  1. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 08:01 AM) Truth. The Dodgers are a problem. Not only that, but that media rights deal and its profitability (or lack thereof) are casting a shadow on all the forthcoming deals and tamping down their values a bit because of what has transpired out in LA, with so many homes shut completely out of Dodgers games now. In the long term, that's another version of SportsVision, albeit incredibly profitable short-term but costly to the franchise long-term.
  2. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-043325435.html Lots of love here for Sox players/org. Abreu, Micah Johnson, Carlos Rodon, David Robertson, Avisail Garcia and Chris Sale. Abreu consensus pick for AL HR champ, interestingly. Robertson 2/5 votes for AL saves leader, Sale first no-hitter, Garcia breakout hitter, Rodon and Micah for AL ROY. Indians slight favorite over the Tigers for first.
  3. Open dictionary...Beckham Consternation/Weeping and Gnashing of Tongues, new phrase
  4. Jarrett Casey, all the lefties (whoever he is)! Trey M. getting into the action...Abreu continuing to absolutely rake (2/3, .527), and Carlos Sanchez now over .400 (.05) for the spring. Avi Garcia just homered now (2nd of the spring) off Mr. Paxton, 3 for 3 with 4 RBI's. Finally, "Yogi" Farrell 2/2 and Carroll has pitched well this spring, completely non-projectable Axelrodish 1.59 ERA.
  5. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) This is a different version than what you had. The only time I have ever seen it used is in a non-union fracture of the hand. a non-union fracture is when normal healing is not occurring and the bone is not forming the callus to heal. It's usually the the last option before surgical intervention. They use it for horses because their bones to not heal well, similar to a non-union in humans. The horses are usually put down instead of trying to heal the bones, unless of course they are of a certain bloodline. I would seriously doubt if this sped up the healing process as his fracture has healed in a fairly normal timeline because it wasn't a full break but an avulsion. Will commence to break down the life-threatening injuries to Seabiscuit and Secretariat...in 3, 2, 1. Kluber, Ventura and David Price are ACES, period. That's absurb, Sale. How could you give up a run?, that's horsesh-- stuff!, there. Real cause for concern about his ever returning to prior form.
  6. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 09:58 AM) I was going to say that. I think the top ten prospects in 2016 will be headlined by Adams, Adolfo and whoever they draft at 8 this year. I do think Martinez is a sure fire top ten prospect next year, I have him at thay 10 to 15 range. Alfaro and Nunez will be ranked as well but I dont know about top ten. I really like last year's international signing class. You heard it here, Micker Adolfo will be one of the best prospects in all of bsseball in due time. If Montas and/or Danish take the next step/s, they're banging on the door already of Top 100 MilB prospect-hood. You've got guys like Trey M. and Engel/May with some interesting tool sets. And, of course, Tim Anderson goes into the season with a lot to prove defensively...with a possible position change on the horizon. Mr. Courtney Hawkins, this is your year to shine. If Hawkins, Barnum and Adolfo all impress, that will be the first time three legit power hitting prospects (and no, guys like Andy Wilkins weren't true prospects)...have been found (together) in our system in ages, not to mention interesting bats like Thompson and Matt Davidson with the possibility of a late surprise.
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) you are right about the latin prospects..... but wow ..... the shear idea of some of them even becomes true.... this system will be one to watch. now if they can find a prospect who could hit the ball a mile ..... that extra power hitter who will make it as a mlb power hitter. Keon Barnum
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) The point is you must think Finnegan and Duffy are at the top of their position if the season is over because of them. And then you run this list. They aren't on the list, and you don't even support them on the list. I think that's a little odd. And it wasn't October. Robertson, A. Garcia and Melky Cabrera aren't either. They must suck. How can the likes of Rodon and Finnegan be on any list when they're starting in the minors instead of relieving in the majors? If you'll notice, they only had the TOP starters for each of the five teams. Does that mean Jose Quintana and Jeff Samardzija also suck, or wouldn't/couldn't be the best pitcher on the Twins? Yordano Ventura Duffy Edinson Volquez Vargas Guthrie It's possible Volquez could be 2nd, but, then again, he could be out of baseball in two years. Anything's possible with that guy, just like Liriano.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) That's not the point. You basically said 2015 was over for the Sox because KC has Finnegan and Duffy. Have you changed your mind? And what day did I say that? I'm guessing it was in October. Probably it came before they added LaRoche, Robertson, Me.Cabrera, Duke, Samardzija, Soto, Beckham (pushed them over the top and past KC), Bonifacio, Rodon (to active roster), Crain, Albers, etc. If the White Sox came back with the same team as ended 2014, yeah....2015 would have been over. With Viciedo starting again, I'm sure you believe the Sox are/would be the better team!!! But what's your point, exactly? That I should have gotten out a magic 8 ball and envisioned last October what Hahn was going to do this offseason...because I'm sure there are posts all over SoxTalk with you predicting/projecting exactly what has transpired, right? Now you're just picking fights because you have nothing better to do with yourself, it seems.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) What about Finnegan and Duffy? Finnegan's going to start in the minors (probably AA), just like Rodon. Duffy will be fine. What about the April Fool's Day joke? You really wanted to believe it, didn't you? Reality check, I certainly would rather have Duffy and pay him $650,000 than pay John Danks 20 times that...but maybe you'd still prefer Danksie.
  11. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/115705826/wh...n-in-al-central SOX, Ramirez and Sale (over Kluber). Cabrera (over Abreu), Kinsler (over Dozier), Plouffe (3B, most competitive/open field), M.Brantley (over Gordon), JD Martinez, Yan Gomes (over Perez), Lorenzo Cain, Victor Martinez, Holland/Escobar/Davis KC bullpen 4 Tigers, 2 Indians, 1 Twin, 2 Royals, 2 White Sox Should have mentioned Robertson and Melky as being in the running at least...and Avisail, as RF seems pretty weak.
  12. Who is Danny Hayes?
  13. Don't forget the ascension of Montas/Danish/Micah Johnson.... Plus, odds are VERY high we replace Carlos Rodon with another high impact collegiate pitcher with tremendous upside, so we definitely belong in that teens range....Law had us, what, 14th or so? 12th? It was significantly higher than any rating we'd seen on the minors in ages, I remember that much.
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) Yes. Bleacher Report, lol. But wasn't there a recent article on Flowers' "new changes" that brought his power game back? Kind of like the inevitable "Gordon's got his swing repeatable and figured out with no hitches or dips" article. Gordon's just seeing the ball and hitting the ball and taking the game as it comes, naturally, not over-thinking blah blah blah.
  15. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) hard to look a guy in the eye and tell him "go win a job" when a veteran like Gordon has an awful spring and is handed a job. I really think it would send a message is he was cut and Sanchez and Micah both get MLB jobs. Oh, the humanity, all the money we wasted on Viciedo, Gordon, Paulino and Keppy. Stupid Hahn.
  16. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) Push has a hose. Pushkin?
  17. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) Omg season please just start. You miss the vitriolic/hyperbolic/Snakes on a Sox Plane game threads that much? Actually, I just wanted to post this for Balta's reference when the team inevitably disappoints us later, lol.
  18. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 02:30 PM) Wait, what? Bleacher Report? Best preview you've seen? I think so. They point out of the obvious flaws in the team (4-5 guys)....possibilities for regression from Abreu and reasons for that, and also how much of the line-up's hopes are pinned on Avisail Garcia being a 20-80-20 SB guy....another example, Eaton also had very high BABIP, and low walk rates, not unlike Abreu (around 8%)...so both need to pick up their walk rates to the 12-15% range to compensate for expected falls in BABIP/returns to normative numbers. Concerns about Gillaspie's late season fade and platoon splits, the catcher's spot and Micah Johnson's ability to make an immediate impact. A bit about the bullpen....not much analysis yet of the impact of Petricka being on the DL, and who will step up to take his place, whether it's Putnam, Guerra, Albers, Leon, etc. Crain I guess had that shoulder setback but should contribute as early as May or June.

  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) Kyle mad. But I agree, very little to gain here. I prefer we cut the cord with the long time failures. See Noesi lol. Dayan Viciedo was taken aback by the White Sox‘ decision to release him, but he’s landed on his feet after signing a minor-league deal with the Blue Jays, the Associated Press reports. “I was slightly surprised because I thought I had an agreement in place to stay there, but I understand it’s a business,” Viciedo says. “You have good days, you have bad days. I took it in stride. I’m not upset. It kind of surprised me at first but everything had worked out and is OK.” www.mlbtraderumors.com Looks like the Phillies are one possible destination, with uncertainty about Dominic Brown and Grady Sizemore (poor Lillian!)
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) He had his chances no to return. See Beckham with his ongoing five years of failure and swing/mechanical changes. Viciedo only had two after his rookie season.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 08:03 AM) Dayan Viciedo is a free agent again. Have fun in Japan. I called it if hes back in a White Sox uniform lol.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 10:01 AM) I think he's a very good player, but not someone I'd take with the first pick. He was very bad defensively in the game, as he seemed slow off his feet. I do have some hope for his offensive game to expand, as he's a phenomenal free throw shooter for his size/age (as is Myles Turner). D. Russell has the best chance to be a game changer out of this draft class. Mudiay if healthy...
