  1. Maybe you can track down Eddy Ramirez (the Olympic speed skater) and he could help with translation out in AZ...? And also a short story on why he chose the White Sox to show proper respect to him. It's a cool story. Austin would be REALLY cool because he could tell us lots of cool stories about Rodon to whet our appetite for the future...maybe some hints about when he might be signing, what team Austin will be starting off with (assuming it's one of the short season teams for a start or two but it could be Kanny since that's where Rodon would go sooner or later before Winston-Salem).
  2. USA: You realize we're a lost cause, right? Not just our soccer team. They're gonna lie down like Obi Wan this month. I'm talking about the whole country. I'm talking about the IDEA of America. It's hopeless. That whole thing about being a shining beacon of freedom to the rest of the world? GONE. Never coming back. You don't live in a free country. You live in a paranoid surveillance state oligarchy where people gun each other down in broad daylight completely at random. And you know something? It's never going to get better. Ever. The violence will escalate. Income inequality will widen. Twenty years from now, there will be one trillionaire (Donald Sterling) and 350 million people working as his personal wage slaves. Local infrastructure will deteriorate. People will forsake work and the duties of citizenship in favor of fighting unwinnable flame wars—digital arguments that increasingly have NOTHING TO DO with how people actually deal with one another in real life. Good ideas will be discarded because they're too expensive or because some dips*** company already has a vague patent on it and will do nothing with it but sue forever. Your house will be swept away in a Category 12 Nor'Eastercane. It's OK to admit that it's over. Go ahead. Say it to yourself: America is no longer worth the effort. Feels good, doesn't it? Feels freeing. Finally, we can stop HOPING. We can be adults about this and accept the fact that AMERICA WILL DIE. And the worst part is that your cable bill will, like, double when it happens. http://screamer.deadspin.com/the-hater-s-g...-cup-1588867715
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 06:42 AM) Pretty piss poor performance by the Tigers fans, usually they provide a jump in attendance. Seems the Braves-like apathy is starting to set in...apathy, a bit. Especially with the current Tigers' team on a 6-16 run, Verlander looking nothing like an ace and Scherzer looking merely human...on the other hand, how exciting is it when you're team's 27-12 and has the best record in the majors and just mowing down opponents and the division lead is already a full 7 games on May 18th and 19th?

  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 06:12 PM) We have Sprague as signed and they don't. Is he related to Ed Sprague, former Blue Jay?
  6. http://www.freep.com/VideoNetwork/36185606...wswellvideo|img Verlander "that's on me" video....blames the walks/control, says his stuff was good...the only hard hit ball was Abreu's, etc. “God, it's really frustrating,” Verlander said. “I feel like I'm right there, and there's been a bunch of games where I feel like it's been right there and then a couple walks and turns in to a big inning. But the stuff is there, just execute a little bit better and repeat. “Really I felt good, just the walks,” Verlander said. “I need to limit the walks. That one huge inning, I walked a few guys and gave up a couple weak hits and turned it in to a big inning when it shouldn't have been. But like I said, overall stuff felt good. Those big innings I need to limit those walks. I start trying to go a little harder and I end up losing control a little bit, and that's what allowed those guys to have that extended inning.”
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 11:58 PM) Maybe on a Thursday night, with kids out of school, but I doubt it. What are the advance sales? Nobody's going to walk up. It should be a LOT of walk up...we've had crowds earlier in the year in only the 10-11,000 range, so the season ticket base for those games logically has to be around 8,500 to 9,500 before any additional ticket is sold.
  8. 18,803 and 18,424 so far this week. It has to be 25,000+ for Sale/Scherzer tomorrow night and the White Sox with a chance to cut the lead down to 1 1/2 games...doesn't it???
  9. “There have been some instances where things happened that probably shouldn’t have happened, and he was right there in the middle of it,” Dunn explained. “I just know that bats fall on your foot that probably shouldn’t have fallen on your foot. There have been some other things. His hands go places they probably shouldn’t go and hit you in places they probably shouldn’t hit you. Obviously he can’t do this by himself, but something is going on there.” The Eaton story with his wife freaking out coming into the hotel room in California was pretty funny.
  10. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 10:12 PM) Don't worry, Saurez will ruin Sale's pretty little line tomorrow. He seems like the type that would. If that happens, there will be a REAL story. Suarez. Verlander, now 6-6, has allowed 31 earned runs and 49 hits over his last 37 2/3 innings.
  11. Verlander "Doom-O-Meter" rising with each and every start...there will be genuine excitement among the Sox fanbase for the first time since 2012 if Sale beats Scherzer tomorrow and they pull to within 1 1/2 games of the Tigers.
  12. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 08:29 PM) Rangel still rules the world. But can he catch or play LF?

  14. Well, Nieto has gone from 1 to 3 walks in one game. 660 OPS.
  15. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 08:12 PM) FIRE AUSMUS!!!! inexcusable to leave Verlander out there! Still don't understand why he didn't go after an A ball player in Nieto, but DeAza hasn't lit the world on fire this season, either.
  16. That's HUGE for DeAza's confidence... Eaton, Viciedo and Flowers are all struggling, Dunn....someone/anyone needs to step up beyond Abreu/Conor/Alexei/Beckham.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) very selfish player For the first 6 weeks, over 60% of his hits were to the opposite field. He's just in a terrible slump. Steverson's not a god.
  18. Working around him to go after Nieto seemingly.
  19. Why do I have a feeling Dayan will hit into a pitcher to catcher to 1B DP? Pop up? K? God, he's been scuffling. Although he hit the ball hard at Kinsler.
  20. One of Verlander's best fastballs there against Dunn....96 MPH, which of course resulted in Dunn reaching.
  21. As usual, the opponent threatens or scores the inning after the White Sox blow a huge scoring opportunity. #likeclockwork Or maybe, just maybe, this is the John Danks we'll have for the remainder of the season...and things will start to get really interesting with adding one more veteran starter to the back end of the rotation. Remember when Austin Jackson and Avila looked like perennial All-Stars and Martinez looked like toast?
  22. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 07:52 PM) Still have 3 innings but well see. 4
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) You cannot waste them against Detroit it most times cost the Sox a W. The Detroit bullpen is a trainwreck at the back end with Nathan and Joba recently. That said, Nathan's only blown a couple of games his entire career against the White Sox.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) Avila got away with blocking the plate there. Eaton is safe if he can slide directly to the plate. What's the new rule about blocking the plate? Can the umpire call the baserunner safe/discretion?
  25. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 07:45 PM) Eaton is so fun He has to walk more, though. A 653 OPS is Brian Anderson-esque. And 5/10 on steals needs some improvement as well.
