Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
"It also means an acquiring team isn't taking on much risk, but could reap a serious reward if Robert snaps back into being the player he was as recently as 2023, when he smashed 38 homers and had an .857 OPS. Still just 27 years old, Robert's potential is immense. And while his offensive ceiling is the most tantalizing part of his game, he's also an elite defensive center fielder." sny.com https://sports.yahoo.com/article/padres-calling-white-soxs-bluff-140041481.html

Likely don't even have that much cash on hand to pay it out this budget year without going into more debt. Not going to happen.

Andrew Kashner is still pitching?

The Trade Winds are upon us
“He has spent much of the 2025 campaign with the Dodger's Triple-A affiliate, the Oklahoma City Comets, and struggled to produce at that level, as well. Through 16 appearances (including 14 starts), Miller's ERA sits at 5.58, his WHIP remains high at 1.63, and he has nearly as many walks (49) as he does strikeouts (57).” And now moved to the AAA bullpen…

Yankees acquire Austin Slater for RHP Gage Ziehl
Sounds like Thorpe, minus the change.

Yankees acquire Austin Slater for RHP Gage Ziehl
White Sox grade: B Ziehl hails from upstate New York, not far from the southern shore of Lake Ontario, and if he emerges as a big league pitcher, it looks as if he'll do so just off the western shore of Lake Michigan now that he's Chris Getz's latest prospect acquisition for Chicago. According to the prospect gurus, Ziehl relies on decent velocity with plus command and a plus sweeper-style slider as the foundation of his arsenal. A standout on the excellent Miami Hurricanes' staff, Ziehl prospered in high-level competition as a collegian. This year marks his first taste of professional game action, and the results have been just so-so. “Since signing, the Yankees have worked with Ziehl to alter his arsenal. They tweaked his four-seam fastball to give it more cutting action, and they made small upgrades to his slider and changeup as well. His fastball averages just less than 90 mph, and he backs it mostly with a low-80s sweeper but will mix in a mid-80s changeup and the occasional curveball.” baseballamerica.com Another soft tosser. espn.com

Don't break it ALL down. Go for 63!!!!!
Getting the highest possible draft pick next year is critical… Even with a 63-99 finish, they’re still far and away in last place in the Central. If you want them to jump into contention for next year, it’s going to require spending at least $100 million like the 2023 Royals, who also happened to have one of the five best young players in the entire game in Witt, Jr. Tauchman can certainly return for 2026 as a FA if he so desires. He’s not going to be the starting RF in 2028 (first potential Sox playoff team), after the Tigers have lost Skubal to FA. Certainly not at his age. Benintendi will be long gone then, too, and aged out of LF. There’s also no reason at all to believe JR will spend big going the expected labor impasse offseason after next year. Sosa and Vargas and Meidroth may or may not to be long term starters…most likely, they’re complementary pieces. The future leaders for now look to be Montgomery, Teel and Quero, with Braden, Carlson and Bonemer the heart of the next wave (hopefully). They’re still at least 2-3 middle of the order bats away, and the future rotation is just as far away unless Shane Smith/Vasil don’t take the next step and one of Schultz/H.Smith has to mature into a true frontline starter. Lots to be excited about due to their play after the break…but lots of reasons to pump the brakes on getting carried away too much, as well. If Montgomery, Teel and Quero all finish with 750-800 ops numbers, then maybe they’ve finally started to turn the corner.

SEA acquires Eugenio Suarez from AZ
You would think they were acquiring Ramon Laureano instead...or at least Mullins.

SEA acquires Eugenio Suarez from AZ
“Seattle did not need to dip into its deep well of top prospects, though Locklear is a major league-ready first baseman who should occupy the position as Arizona retools for 2026. The 24-year-old has done nothing but hit in the minor leagues, posting an .894 OPS over nearly 1,500 minor league plate appearances, including a .316/.401/.542 line with 19 home runs and 82 RBIs at Triple A this season.” That’s the kind of 1B the Sox need, compared to Vargas/Sosa…

SEA acquires Eugenio Suarez from AZ
“The deal, which is pending medical review, will send first baseman Tyler Locklear and right-handers Juan Burgos and Hunter Cranton to the Diamondbacks, who already had dealt first baseman Josh Naylor to Seattle less than a week earlier. Suárez, 34, ranks fifth in Major League Baseball with 36 home runs and rejoins a Mariners team with which he spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons.” Basically a 1B/DH and two relievers, albeit one that throws 98-100 like Taylor Just so hard to get premium SS/CF talent back

2025 Trade deadline rumors thread
Padres/Preller looking to acquire A's closer and turn him into a starter? or bluffing as he deals Suarez/Cease? But according to The Athletic report, “indications” are that Preller “is willing to at least discuss” such names as shortstop Leo De Vries (the third-ranked prospect in all of baseball per MLB Pipeline) and catcher Ethan Salas (the club’s No. 2 prospect and No. 20 overall). To add to the intrigue, the Padres might consider converting Miller back into a starting pitcher (the right-hander made six starts for the A’s back in 2023). San Diego does have a history of converting relievers into starters, doing so recently with Michael King, Stephen Kolek and Seth Lugo...along with Nick Martinez. mlb.com

Cubs acquire old friend Michael Soroka
"Great" is really pushing it. It might end up being solid or could certainly go awry when he's under real pressure in the spotlight of the August/Sept. pennant race.

Pollock was never a capable RFer unfortunately. Plus he never really wanted to leave the Dodgers.
