  2. http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20802325_2...0.html#30129104 Ranking the 9 Marvel movies... I wonder if this current Captain America is getting a bit too much credit, also leading to a bit of upward revising for The First Avenger, and Iron Man (the first) and Thor getting a bit of a short shrift. Didn't realize how hot Haley Atwell was until I googled her. Wow. Didn't really get that feeling at all from her in the first Avengers movie, very toned down and Jennifer Connelly-esque.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 09:28 PM) Don't doubt batista Tony or Jose? Single Mom's Club B+...got ravaged by critics, but this is one of his better non-Madea movies, and Zulay Henao (Colombian) is smoking hot. Had never seen her before. Amazing for 34 or 35. Mr. Peabody & Sherman B...fond memories of this cartoon from growing up. Captain America: Winter Soldier...A/A- just a notch behind Avengers, Redford's addition ads some gravitas, as well as Sam Wilson...not a huge Black Widow fan, but she was more tolerable in this one. Did a really good job of tying in the past of our country with the future globalized/your enemy can be anywhere feeling that has prevailed since 9/11. Bad Words....well done, Jason Bateman...unfortunately it won't be seen by many until it comes out on DVD...Bateman at his surly/snippy/sarcastic best, really enjoyed the interaction throughout the film with the Indian contestant. You could see the "reveal" coming a bit early, but it was still eminently watchable and pretty cleverly done. Always enjoy Allison Janney in whatever she does. Divergent: B/B-...flatter, less charismatic versions of Katniss and Peeta (well, actually, I like FOUR in the Divergent series a lot more than Miss Everdeen's love interests, but Woodley isn't quite Jennifer Lawrence in terms of taking over a screen and making you pay attention to her)...really, what I mean to say is that this story feels a bit flat coming on the heels of Twilight and Hunger Games, but it still did well enough to make sure the entire trilogy makes it to screen. Liked Shailene more in THE DESCENDANTS with Clooney.
  4. Kentucky six weeks before the end of the regular season looked like there was a 50/50 chance they wouldn't even make the tourney again. They came together, finally. After all, they were preseason #1, so they ended up #1 when it most counted as well. If you don't reflect the entire season's results, then why even have a regular season or pre-season, why not skip all the way to the NCAA's? Kentucky has been very fortunate, so far, but if you went through every championship team's six game run over the last twenty years or so, there's probably only a couple that weren't on the verge of getting knocked out in the first three.
  5. Jackson had the game in his hands with the free throw and 15 footer and didn't come through. Would have liked to have seen Kaminsky touch the ball there instead...don't care at all about the final game. Guess I'll be cheering against Calipari, but it is what it is.
  6. Wow... Harrison did it again. But still 5.7 seconds on the clock.
  7. Kaminsky coming up big late. Got bailed out a little there on the desperation shot as the clock was winding down. Looks like Jackson shuffled his pivot foot and could have been called for the travel.
  8. Kentucky with some amazing athleticism there from Poythress. (And somehow, no turnovers for the entire 2nd half with such a young team). Well, having 6 McDonald's All-Americans in one class, what do you expect? Really don't want to see them rewarded with a National Championship again, that's not good for the sport (although the media loves to talk about it).
  9. Great game. KY looked like they were about to run Wisconsin off the court five minutes ago and WI stayed calm and rallied. Need to get Kaminsky more involved in the offense. Finally waking up a bit. Doesn't seem like he's aggressively looking for his shot, even though he's a huge match-up problem for Calipari. Brust hits that 3 and they're on the ropes again. 5 point Badger lead...now Randle scores with a chance for a 2 point lead. Need to help out defensively on Randle...he's not going to settle for a jumper. Need to contain him somehow.
  10. Zoom in ... no, even more than that: If I were in the business of producing and/or directing White Sox games on television, I would seriously consider changing my approach on certain days. I do not fault fans for not going when it's 39 degrees and windy, and this is not some recycled rant about the age-old attendance issues. But some standard camera shots are just not worth using. Take the low third-base angle of the pitcher as he comes to the set position, with a runner being held on first behind him. In the background, you can see literally thousands of empty green seats. It's distracting, a bit sad and leads to even more knee-jerk commentary about the Sox and what their perceived importance in this town is. Show me a high angle of the infield from the broadcast perspective to widen the focus as intended. Another common one: a wide shot of the barren outfield stands as a graphic shows the "picks to click." You might want to do that over the 2005 trophy in the lobby, or the statue outside Gate 4. Look at it as an opportunity to be creative, and also protect the image of your team. Daily Herald/Scot Gregor http://www.azcentral.com/story/piecoro-blo...-stuff/7377397/ What the DBacks are trying to do to make their stadium look fuller...one of the potential solutions is widening the upper deck seats and providing more amenities/discounts/packages (a lot like the A's do where you get a combo of different items or all you can nights, etc.)Building a stadium restaurant has already been done, the USCF example was actually used in this article.
  11. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 07:34 PM) Snodgress shelled. Not a good start to an important year for him. Just doesn't seem like he has that dominating type of stuff...maybe a 5th, but more likely long relief or set-up. Hawkins is the minor league version of Dunn...three outcomes (well, fewer walks). May and Barnum both struggling out of the gate, Barnum still hitless. Nice to see Anderson with all the extra base hits. Hopefully by the time he reaches the majors, he's a 15-18 homer guy with 30 steal potential. And, most importantly, sticking at SS instead of 2B or CF. Micah Johnson 2 for 3, but I don't think he's going to put up more than 50-60 steals this season in AA.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) I see no reason to take Hoffman at 3 and if it is with Rodon on the board, it is unconscionable It's even more unconscionable to not be able to sign Rodon, who might already have peaked as a pitching prospect six months ago (see Miller, Andruw) and have the rebuild set back by another year.
  13. What he's trying to argue is the Cooper is the one who decided to use Cleto against Perez instead of walking Perez to face the 0 for the season Moustakas with a veteran lefty comfortable in the situation who has the slider (which Moustakas struggles against) to record yet another out against Moustakas (0 for 4, 2 K's, career against Downs). Do I believe Ventura is the one who made that decision? 100% yes. He just said it in a "general" way because Cooper does have more control of the pitching staff and decisions than most MLB pitching coaches, that is true. FWIW, Salvador Perez is 3rd in the majors in OPS. Moustakas is last. Short sample, sure...but you don't face that guy instead of an 0-14 guy who's under all the pressure in the world to live up to expectations.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 05:29 PM) Doesn't Cooper make most of the pitching decisions? No.
  15. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10733609...oung-man-antics Puig gets a huge defense, this time, more on cultural lines...he does have some good points.
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 03:21 PM) Man people living and dying with these games already? This team isn't going to be very good. Enjoy the youth and take the good times with the struggles otherwise it's going to be a long year. I'm looking forward to that Winston Salem game later. Not living or dying. Ventura just has no instincts about managing a bullpen. Say what you want about Ozzie, he always had more of a knack for it, although he started playing it too much by the book at the end..too predictable. The last game of the Twins' series actually hurt...especially after Semien's homer and then blowing it, rallying from being down and out and then taking the lead twice. Didn't expect to win this one.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 03:15 PM) -We need to stop scoring and giving the run back the next 1/2 inning -Our relief pitching sucks -Robin cannot handle this bullpen -Thank God it's Sale tomorrow But, it's also Big Game James Shields. Not an easy match-up.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 03:15 PM) I love Semien, but it's Beckham time. When's he ready? Semien down for more seasoning. That is scary. As we all know our best teams have been HR hitting teams. MLB is like college baseball now. Not many bombs. I'm not just saying this because I worship Ozzie, but that was the worst managerial decision I can remember off the top of my head. Seriously. On paper, it was a move that can be ridiculed over and over with Moose hitting .000. The Royals probably would have pinch hit that former Twin they've picked up who is going to platoon with Moose soon if Moose keeps this up. Danny Valencia, or Ciriaco who is more of a SS...on the Red Sox most recently.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) So you just want him to play it by the book. Instead of facing the best hitting catcher in the game with someone who clearly struggled with his command the last time out and doesn't have much of a breaking pitch, YES. You can go against the book when you're actually proven to have the instincts to do so, like Joe Maddon. If they bring in a RH hitter to PH, then you have Belisario. Pedro Ciriaco or Danny Valencia against him....or Perez/Cleto??? How is that even a choice?
  20. The Royals have a much better bullpen at the back end. Davis was terrible today, but it was his fourth game in a row out there and he was clearly tired and struggling. They're still missing Coleman.
  21. Garcia on 2nd with two chances to score him. Eaton swung at ball four...split finger was difficult for him to pick up. Almost the same situation we faced in Game 3 at Minny, except runner was on 3rd with 1 out. Let's see if we can actually get a clutch hit here this time.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 03:03 PM) Comsidering these are the same geniuses who think he should do everything they say or he is an idiot, it is. It's not Mr. Peabody here. Anyone who follows baseball...95% of them...would have done the same thing if presented with the exact same scenario.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 03:02 PM) Cleto's fastball must be awfully straight. If he throws that hard and still is lousy. Same with Jones...throwing 95-100 doesn't matter if the batter's sitting on it. And yeah, it's not with a ton of movement. Or, I should say...Cleto just has no idea of command or where the ball's going.
  24. Moustakas....career against Downs, 0 for 4, 2 K's. Of course!!!
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) It was a hanging slider. Whatever it was...Cleto's not a good match-up with Perez. Everyone could see that one coming. Getting beat on a major league below average pitch is even worse in that situation.
