  1. The White Sox rule of not scoring the runner from third leading to a run (runs) the next half inning....it never fails. Must happen 80-85% of the time.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) I didn't either. Maybe I've overrated Leyland all these years. ... Who is this Nieto guy? Is he a bonafide prospect or lousy? Picked up in the Rule 5 draft from the Nationals' organization. Another Cuban. Guess Hahn couldn't work out a deal to keep him in the organization (where he really belongs at Winston-Salem or BIRM), so he has to stay on the major league roster all season or he goes back to Washington/Rizzo. Was in High A ball last season, so don't expect much of anything in 2014 out of him. Anything productive would be a pleasant surprise.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) This is so insanely stupid. It is a lot of pressure on Semien knowing that Beckham's coming back soon...he's pressing....it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have Ramirez hitting up at 2, but I'm sure Ventura sees Semien long-term in that role and wants to see how he handles it. The bunting definitely is something he's going to have to improve.
  4. Danks has to do a better job of holding the runner there. Aoki was barely safe.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:41 PM) Here comes another likely run after the Sox score. Aoki and Infante are going to be Sox pests the next few years. At least it's not Getz and Callaspo, haha.
  6. You can understand why the White Sox struggled with a Johan Santana or CC Sabathia in their primes. Why they haven't been able to make adjustments against someone with Chen's repertoire is beyond me...it's not like they haven't seen him and Guthrie over and over again. Tigers already off to a 4-0 start. Didn't see that one coming.
  7. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) http://www.brooksbaseball.net/velo.php?pla...14&s_type=2 Danks averaging 89.31 on the fastball today. He really needs to be at 90-92, touching 93, in order to keep that differential between fastball, cutter and change. So much for that...what else is new with Chen, change the uniforms (Abreu, Eaton, Semien, Nieto) and still the same problems scoring runs.
  8. Great job, Semien. 2/21...continuing the trend of last year not scoring runners from 3B and less than 2 outs. Sigh.
  9. Need to at least tie it here. Let's go, Sox! Have to take advantage of 8/9 hitters both getting on base. The uneventful way to score a run there, but at least it wasn't a K.
  10. Archer/Y.Ventura will be quite the pitching prospect match-up on Tuesday night.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:26 PM) Good. I didn't want a Damon out there. He's more Aaron Rowand than Damon/Pods/Pierre in terms of arm strength. Inconsistent/erratic.
  12. Danks threw a ton of pitches there, lucky the score's not 4 or 5 to 0. Still a game. For now.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) Seems like he's throwing change-ups 90% of the time. Second time through the order, and KC is no longer fooled. In other words, he's our version of CC Sabathia...just a bit cheaper.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:16 PM) Terrible break on the ball by Dayan but got lucky with bad base running. Well, he shouldn't even be playing out there. He's used to LF now. Why DeAza's playing against Chen, no idea. Guess it's a "teachable moment" for Avisail and Ventura. Danks has completely lost his command now. Another impact of the surgery.
  15. Now Danks loses Perez after an 0-2 count. Moustakas is as cold this season so far as he was hot in spring training.
  16. Thank god Hosmer had a brain cramp there. Wow...would have been bases loaded, no outs and probably game over. 8-3-5-2, much better rundown than our last attempt in Minny. At least Abreu can throw the ball better than Thomas.
  17. Butler was 6/33 career against Danks before that at-bat. Still under .200.
  18. Eaton with a really poor 2 hop throw to Ramirez there... Have to limit the damage now. Can't give up runs 2 and 3 with Chen on the mound.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) GameDay says Chen threw a 69 MPH eephus to De Aza on 0-2 Shades of Takatsu.
  20. 0/4 with RISP today so far. Don't think Viciedo's .600 average will last long. (It will be interesting to see if Viciedo will take PT from Garcia, or it will just be at DeAza's expense against LHP). First hit for the Royals there by Omar Infante.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) Wow, this defense has been worse than last season so far. The only place for improvement is probably DeAza/Eaton. Rios>Garcia, Beckham>Semien, Gillaspie will never be better than average, nor will Davidson....Abreu's worse than Konerko. By default, anything is better than Phegley, I guess. Ramirez might challenge 40 errors.
  22. Ramirez is going to have about 30-40 errors this season. Jose Valentin territory. Konerko saved him 10-15 per season, easily.
  23. So we have both the tiniest CF, tiniest catcher and tiniest 3B coach? Does Eddie Gaedel have any family members surviving? And Leury's not exactly Captain America/Puig, either.
  24. Pretty hopeless for Conor and DeAza up there today. At least no Dunn whiffing. Would like to get my hands on Bruce Chen's personal t-shirts he gave to his teammates a couple of years ago..."83 by you" Buehrle's almost down to that number, 85-87.
