  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) He's smarter than that. What a pleasure it is to watch Sale vs. Shields. Can we please sign Shields next year? Sure, for $125-135 million.
  2. Another good approach by Gillaspie. Garcia and Ramirez need to get it done this time around. Pretty sure that's an 0/15 string now for Avisail. At least he got the runner to 3rd, because Ramirez finally got the big hit to plate the run. You know Sale will want to stay out there as long as possible...with how the bullpen's been going.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) It's awful the way the manager strolls out of the dugout while the team gets to look at the replay first and relay the information to the manager. Ridiculous. Because they only have so much time to interrupt/delay the game...otherwise, the next pitch takes place and it's too late. That's why the two coaches in the dugout have to be fast in making a determination.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 01:49 PM) Sox had no choice but to respond immediately. Royals are setting the tone of making us their patsies, doing whatever they want to us. That was the Indians last year... Looks like Sabathia will pick up a victory, fwiw. Tigers finally lost.
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 01:48 PM) What is the point of the replay? To piss off Harrelson (and take hits away from Semien). Sale getting chippy out there. Hosmer out by a mile as Butler swings through the ball. Butler to lead off bottom of 7th. LET'S GET SOME RUNS, DAMMIT.
  6. Ventura's pissed, and Gibson is saying "it's not OUR call, it's the (replay) guy in New York!!!"
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 01:45 PM) Abreu's gonna be a DH, isn't he? It's definitely heading in that direction. Except Adam Lind's not a 1B, either. Enter LaRoche or Kendrys Morales.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) Too many errors. Bad baseball means the losses will start piling up. Shields may be dumb enough to hit another Sox and he'll be ejected and there will be a fight if all that happens. We'll see what happens the next time Abreu comes up.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) I don't know why you throw at the lead off guy in a 0 0 gane with the middle of the order coming up. Glad we got the out. Because Abreu stepped on Hosmer's foot...so, theoretically, Shields was going after Abreu. In the minds of the White Sox, at least.
  10. Well, we're already starting to miss Konerko's scoops at 1B. God, our defense is just awful.
  11. Last 5 1/2 games for Sale against KC. 1 run scored by the offense. Tyler couldn't add his 2nd and 3rd RBI's to that list. Shouldn't have been benched, now he's going to go 1 for 21, surely. Half teal.
  12. Great job of advancing the runner there...not.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) Winter soldier very good, stll a tick below Avengers for me. Now I want to know how in the world Agents of Shield will deal with all that! Really good (albeit long) deconstruction of the Captain America movie and its commonalities with America today...definitely worth a read, but only if you've already seen the movie. http://popwatch.ew.com/2014/04/06/captain-...hield-paranoia/ From the last episode, everything is pointing to Agent Hand (Saffron Burrows)...but then Ming-Na Wen is involved, there's also the issue of who actually is the real Clairvoyant (alive or dead?). Will there be a Gary Shandling appearance on AGENTS? Kate joining the SHIELD t.v. show? Need more Reina...she's as entertaining as Amy Acker in Person of Interest. Presumably she would need to escape from prison somehow.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 01:06 PM) Glad Hosmer and Abreu both didn't get hurt. Don't really know what Abreu was doing in stepping on his foot. Revenge for Paul Konerko!!! Never forget!
  15. Hawkins K's. 5 of his 12 outcomes.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 12:53 PM) I still think he has a bit too much going on at the plate when he's triggering That's what SHE said... Abreu must have spiked Hosmer. Great play by Escobar, on the heels of a terrible play by Alexei Ramirez. Jose now 1 for his last 10. Solid contact there, though.
  17. Say what you will about Garcia, but he saved Sale/Ramirez a run there by backing up the play at 1st.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) Axelrod off to a good start. I think they said in spring he changed his mechanics a little bit. I know he's a whipping boy around here, but the Sox need a long reliever in the pen. If he puts up 3-4 good starts, and the pen still sucks, I wouldn't mind him coming back in May. --- Barnum RBI single Davidson 2 RBI doubles Phegley is swinging a hot bat. No matter what happens, think they will give Flowers at least two months before throwing in the towel. We've seen this show before. With both of them.
  19. Barnum with his first hit. Scored Jacob May to tie it.
  20. Marcus Semien supposedly has the best "strike zone discipline" of anyone in the White Sox organization. Hmmm... James Shields, 17-6 career in April starts. One of those 6 losses to Sale last year on O.D.
  21. Adam Dunn..."I gain just 10 pounds by watching Sale eat." GF (Harold Sale) was 6'4" 145 pounds, paratrooper..."When he jumped out of the airplane, he was the only guy to float up." "He eats more than anyone in the world (but still can't gain weight)..." Nice comp, Ichabod Crane on the mound, haha.
  22. Wow, Sale's last five starts against KC. 1 total run of support. Tyler Flowers HR on OD, 2013. 1.8 average over his last 8 starts against KC.
  23. Hector Santiago gave up 4 runs in 5 IP in his first Angels' start and took the loss. Alex Rios is off to a very good start as well.
  24. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) Caulfield, did you ever read The Giver? Divergent is similar to Lois Lowry's novel. Yep. And then there's also Ender's Game, which has some similarities as well.
  25. Oh, by the way, Sal Perez has the 2nd best career average (.355) with RISP of any player in the majors with over 200 career at-bats in that situation. Royals' announcers still ripping on the White Sox for the decision. "This points to the weakness of the Sox bullpen (that they went to Cleto in that situation)." Haha.
