  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:56 PM) Key to this game was the last DeAza at bat. We had a chance to actually grasp the lead. The key was our bullpen would have blown it anyway. It doesn't help that Ventura: 1) Doesn't realize how badly Moustakas is hitting 2) That Cleto is a FB pitcher and Perez a FB killer 3) That he actually can walk Perez, the best catcher in baseball, to face Moustakas with the veteran Downs...it's not like Moustakas is now 0 for 15 or anything...or can hit sliders well...but maybe Ventura's going off spring training results, lol.
  2. Left a fastball right out over the heart of the plate. Cleto has no clue where the ball's going. And the White Sox bullpen implodes again, despite the CS. Passed ball on Nieto. 90 losses is looking generous.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) Easy to second guess Ventura here. Walk Perez and go after 0-14 Moustakas with the slider. Cleto will probably leave a FB over the plate and get lit up by Perez. We'll see. It's not a good choice after Cleto pitched so poorly the other day. Downs is the veteran, and Moustakas is still pressing to get his first hit of the season. Ventura just isn't a good manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I don't understand why Cleto's the better option over Webb or Delisario here. Just don't get it.

  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) Replay sucks. let the umps make their mistakes. he's safe obviously. Caught him on the upper back right below the helmet. He was out.
  7. Quick release by Nieto. Thurman Munson-esque.
  8. Wow....easily could have been Ramirez sitting on 3rd base with a 5-3 lead. Of course, our bullpen would have to hold it, somehow.
  9. Royals' announcers seem to think Davis is hurting, but got DeAza there. 1/9 with RISP. At least Conor came through.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:37 PM) 3-3 Chen no win And still no career losses in 15 starts for Danks against KC.
  11. Tie game. Now it's up to the bullpens. Cain having all kinds of trouble with the sun. No way Aoki could get anything on that throw moving towards the RF line from center.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:31 PM) Abreu's been hit twice this season already Shades of Carlos Quentin. That's going to happen a lot when Dunn is in one of his rough stretches...rookie rite of passage.
  13. Questionable pitching Wade Davis four consecutive games. Seems to have lost confidence in his stuff here after losing Abreu and giving up a hard hit ball to Semien. Poor Theo Epstein...Cubs getting off to a rough start again.
  14. Looks like it might be Downs instead of Cleto. Semien with a nice approach against a pitcher with really good stuff in Wade Davis. Maybe that will help to rebuild his confidence. Tigers' bullpen falling apart. That will be their Achilles' heel all season. They were up 7-1 or 7-2 and now it's 7-6 with Baltimore still batting in the 9th.
  15. Danks almost unraveled in the 4th/5th but got things back together to finish the game on a high note. Let's hope "good" Cleto shows up in the bottom of the 8th.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) Not a single hard hit ball with RISP today. Something that's noticeable about this lineup is that there are only 5 guys in it that are threats to hit double-digit homers. Semien should eventually hit 15-18. But not this year. Abreu, Viciedo, Gillaspie, DeAza should manage it. Plus no Dunn/Garcia in the line-up. The problem's not the power so much as lack of clutch hitting in the last couple of games...and the bullpen.
  17. 0 for 7 with RISP now I think. I guess on the previous Nieto ball it would have been 1st and 3rd, 1 out. DeAza was out to begin the inning.
  18. Could have been a 1-6-3 double play ball but Crow couldn't handle it cleanly. Or 1st and 3rd with no outs and Nieto's first major league hit.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) The key to only losing 88-90 games this season is winning series against the Cleveland's, Minnesota's, Yankees, Baltimore's of the world and some of those NL teams. We're simply not going to beat the good teams like KC, Detroit, just about everybody in the East. I wouldn't be so sure about Cleveland and the Yankees being down. We should be competitive with Houston and Seattle again. We never play well against the Blue Jays or Orioles. We were 2-17 against the Indians last year. Guess that has to improve by the law of averages.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) Through six: John Danks- 105 pitches (69/36), 5 hits, 3 ER, 4 BB, KKKKKK. ERA is 4.5, obviously. 2 consecutive walks and the Aoki stolen base really hurt him the most. He's been fine for a 4 starter. Offense just hasn't done anything with Chen, as usual. Trade EN FUEGO Ramirez now before he puts up 30-40 errors with Abreu doing a poor imitation of the Konerko scoop at 1B, haha.
  21. Wonder how many Royals' fans feel the same way about him as we do Chen/Guthrie? 15th start career today against KC, 6-0 overall, 4-0 in KC.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) Caulfield how recent is that Eaton quote? Just this week...I think it was Monday or Wednesday. White Sox team average down to .287 now with the 5/24 so far.
  23. Chen ranging from 65 to 88. Moore/Yost probably made the right decision holding back Ventura for the Rays. Guthrie and Chen own the Sox. Konerko fooled by a pitch right down the middle.
  24. Viciedo and Gillaspie visibly frustrated with the slow stuff...can't wait back on it.
  25. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) So does Micah Johnson, who is probably even better. Maybe, maybe not. Semien has a lot more pop in his bat and better defense at 2B...Micah Johnson's more of a threat on the basepaths. He's going to have to put up a ton of doubles and triples (like Eaton) because he's not a power hitter by any stretch of the imagination. With Johnson, the biggest concern is defensively, sticking on the infield or being moved to LF/CF. Put them together, you have another Ray Durham. Individually, both might not make it as major league regulars.
