  1. White Sox chances of making the playoffs went from 70.5 to 69.8% after the win. Weird. DET at 40.8% Huge series for the TIGGERS against the charging Angels, who are poised to sweep the A's on the road and pull back to 11 games over .500. Fister goes tonight, Scherzer Friday, Verlander Saturday, Sanchez Sunday. Angels countering with Santana, Wilson and Greinke, for now, unless Weaver miraculously heals himself.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) Stubhub had premium lower boxes for $5 last night and $7 today. Going to need some fans to show up the next 7 games at home. Weird schedule this year...19 games after this homestand and only one more home set left?
  3. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) His name is Rios and he dances on the sand (twice)! Or he dances in a ring of fire...(Jim Morrison) Either way, we'll take it.
  4. Have yourself a game, Alex Rios. 6 RBI's on the game. Pick to click, anyone? 22/82 for the year...outside shot at 100 RBI's. I'd seriously give him the Comeback Player of the Year over Dunn, but not sure if he's as popular with the writers as Adam.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) I'd love to hear what a guy who missed 3 prime seasons in military service but still with a lifetime .344 avg. .482 OBP and 1.116 OPS had to say about hitting. If it was a Red Sox broadcast, lol. I'd rather hear what Shoeless Joe Jackson, Aparicio, Fox or Luke Appling had to say had to say. Maybe Hawk can get a Harold Baines quote to use occasionally? Or Big Hurt/Ventura.
  6. Guess they're still going with Sale/Chen instead of pitching both Axelrod and Santiago this weekend. The problem then is that means they plan to use Quintana against the Tigers. Have there been any rumors about starting Axelrod instead? They could pitch Axelrod Sunday, Santiago Monday, then Peavy, Liriano and Sale again.
  7. Ah, there's another Harrelson/AJ connection. His wife and Hawk's daughter roomed together. Dammit Peavy. Have to get through this inning with no worse than a 4-2 lead.
  8. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) More and more firewalls are becoming app aware and these little tunneling tricks don't work all the time. I normally use DynaPass or Freegate. That did the trick. But that torpedo program was blocked from working.
  9. Made it through nearly 1 1/2 hours of a game before the first Ted Williams quote.
  10. Still, you put up a 4-0 lead for Peavy, he SHOULD win that game 85-90% of the time, right? So it could be 1/10, as long as that hit's a Grand Salami, you once again would be expected to win most of the time at home giving your team that kind of early lead...
  11. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) Omg, I get so mad when we get tossed out stealing You just got on that base by sheer luck, and you can't even wait 2 seconds to be called out? It's okay because we can start off fresh with Wise leading off again next inning. Not the end of the world.
  12. “What makes me feel the best is no matter what happens this month I know that everybody in uniform has given us his very best,’’ Williams said before the Sox’ 18-9 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. “Given it their all in preparation, the study of their opponent in the video room and scouting reports. They talk about ideas, they come out early en masse to work on little fundamental things you take for granted in this game or are considered old school. ‘‘So at the end of the day if we don’t achieve the goal we don’t set out to achieve I can’t think of a better group I’d love to go down with than these guys. And I mean that as much as anything I’ve said all year long. We don’t want to do that — we want to be the last club standing, but in the event that we’re not I will walk in and thank everyone in uniform for their efforts.’’ http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...sided-loss.html
  13. Dammit, should be 1st and 2nd and a DP away from getting out of the inning. Letting the Twins right back into this game.
  14. What does it say in that Sun Times article by Van Schouwen exactly? Can't get their website to open here in China.
  15. A little luck there for Jakemeister. We'll take it. Paulie not hitting but guiding balls around the diamond these days. Except for the good swing he took on a Verlander fastball.
  16. Great play by Plouffe there. Could have set up for another huge inning. Still have a chance here to bust this game completely open. If only Konerko would stop feeling sorry for himself. Assuming he gets up to the plate...forgot Dunn. Well, that sucked.
  17. Have we ever heard of Ventura calling out KW for giving him a crappy and/or completely inexperienced bullpen this year? That would be MORE fun.
  18. YES. Okay Peavy, you better not f-ing give up 2-3 runs back next inning or we will kill you. Paulie, what the heck is wrong with you, by the way?
  19. We suck at bunting. That's ONE problem. At least 75% of our position players. And DeAza was out the first two games of that series, one of our better bunters.
  20. Okay, SMART baseball here, ala KW's instructions. Intellect.
  21. Are/were Morel, Beckham and Viciedo hurting/helping the Sox? Clearly, Morel was....and they addressed that with YOUK. Beckham and Viciedo are different situations, but somewhat similar salaries. It's a year by year situation with Beckham definitely. Dayan will get at least 2013 and probably 2014 to establish himself, unless he just completely bombs next year, which is pretty hard to imagine happening. Meanwhile, Konerko/Rios/Dunn could all be leaving after '13 and '14, so we need SOMEONE with a potent bat to emerge as that 3-4-5 hitter of the future.
  22. Hopefully, next time, he gives Omogrosso more of a shot over Humber. He's looked a lot better than most anyone expected in his appearances at the major league level this season.
  23. If LaRussa were managing this team, we'd be 16-20 games over .500 right now, without a doubt. With Ozzie, +/- 2-3 games of .500, without a doubt.
  24. HESHER rules. Underrated classic, but not so easy to watch. And 50/50. Bachelorette is REALLY REALLY good. In some ways, much more witty and pushing the envelope further than Bridesmaids.
