Having Teel AND Quero was supposed to provide "surplus value" at that position. So you're now going to turn around and trade them for....an outfielder or high leverage reliever? Teel's been hitting "decently" but he SHOULD be much closer to a 900 OPS playing half his games in CHLT. Quero, for his part, has always looked closer to Omar Narvaez than a legit All-Star, but we'll just have to wait and see on the power part of his game. At least he didn't get overwhelmed right away in the big leagues.

Well, it's also an indictment of Getz that entire draft classes (see Zach Collins/Burdi) are already entirely out of baseball at this point. The White Sox just haven't been productive at development in the last decade other than IDENTIFYING Tatis Semien Chris Bassitt etc. The pitching side has been more or less fine, given what little resources they've been provided to work with. Other teams are far better at identifying the future value those players may or may not possess.

How many veterans since Getz has been GM that have come from other teams have done even close to "well"?

Davis Martin with the quietest solid 3.42 ERA in MLB right now. Too late for Baltimore to trade for him, though.

I'm talking guys like Romy Gonzalez and Luis Gonzalez a few years ago in SF....Alex Call would be another in WASH. Obviously the core of the rebuild has been covered to death. But even Moncada is doing well (when healthy) with the Angels this season. Burger was fine last year in MIA but is dealing with all kinds of family (child's illness) issues this year. Sheets has consistently been one of the best hitters on the Padres this year and has been above an 800 OPS for the cumulative season so far.

Somehow...when Sox players go to other teams, they usually thrive. For example, the SFG are brilliant at making something of role players and cast offs. When those players come from other teams to Chicago....it's just, PFFFTTTT. Total collapse.

Sometimes the catcher/s can actually out-throw the White Sox general terribleness at holding runners effectively.

And then we have "off to the races" once again on the basepaths...Cubs' exposed any pretense of a defense against that, earlier in the season Thaiss and then Quero much better at throwing out runners.

Now Vargas finally gets his offensive game going and starts to show his warts on the other side of the ball...what was actually carrying him for the first month of the season.

Don't you mean warning track? Pretty sure the White Sox are right up there in the running for most boring team in MLB. It's a tight battle with the Marlins at this point. Other than the Luis Robert saga and Shane Smith, there's not much of note.

Maybe Vaughn would be better up taking Par 3 golf with wide fairways...even his worm burners would eventually get to the greens.

Well this is the problem with non star level prospects. Right now, you're looking at Vargas Meidroth Quero sticking and Sosa/Baldwin losing out. The problem is neither Vaughn nor Rojas are part of the future plan...so more than 2/3rds of the entire lineup (including 4-5 OF spots) after Elko goes down is basically irrelevant to the future, except (maybe) trading Robert eventually. And Quero is basically playing only 2 out of 3 games.

Rojas is hardly going to play third...his best near GG caliber position. Blocks Sosa at second and Meidroth is SS for now. Ofc we continue to trot Vaughn out there every single game. Think he's sat just once recently. Probably something dumb like wanting to let Rojas play against his former team.

Rojas is really blocking Sosa and Baldwin...who definitely should be playing everyday and working on his defense as well in CHLT. Capra just pointlessly replaced Baldwin. And then you have the Benintendi Tauchman Slater Taylor veteran outfield of playing time pointlessness as well. SIGH. Adrian Houser might lower that average age lol.
