  1. Verlander 0-2, 5.84 ERA in the 2nd half of the road. Looks to be going 0-3, ERA over 6 after tonight in Anaheim. Hasn't won since the middle of July. Rocked again. This trend will come into synergy with all the good Chris Sale home vs. road splits at USCF next WED. Greinke vs. Anibal Sanchez tmrw, btw. And the Iowa Hawkeyes (my alma mater) suck. Ferentz is starting to become more overrated/overpaid than Ozzie Guillen.
  2. Somehow I have a feeling Greg775 must have thought this game would be at 6:05 p.m., lol. No comments yet from him.
  3. It's a good idea statistically, but will never be adopted. If they had the choice between skipping a start at home versus on the road, it would be pretty clear cut where he prefers to start, though.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) No...Rivera wouldn't....but Reed also didn't blow a 3 run lead. That stupid Mariners game always comes back to mind now whenever Reed comes into the game. Tie game, huge lead, 1 run lead, 3 run lead...I was actually more confident in Jenks, in all honesty. Jenks sort of learned how to pitch to an extent. Addison's just throwing the ball at the plate.
  5. Not only that, but the conditions had changed from sunshine to overcast/dreary there...probably better to have left Dayan in, all things considered.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) THen again, if not for a play by Danks, the game is over with a 123 9th. The problem is that EVERYONE'S confidence in Reed is shrinking by the day. We can make the excuse that Danks lost that ball, but you really think Mariano Rivera would use that as an alibi if he managed to blow a 3 run lead in a similar situation? I don't think so.
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 06:00 PM) BTW how did Sale look today? Great, Struggled with his control through the first three innings, couldn't put away hitters...then he found his rhythm and breezed through the 4th, 5th and 6th, retiring his last 10 batters faced in order. 9-2/1.70 ERA at home
  8. Is Shingo Takatsu still pitching? Reed's ERA has ballooned all the way to 4.83 now on the year. If not for the great defense by Viciedo/Ramirez in LF, it would be a tie game. Of course, if we could actually get one good swing with the bases loaded and stop freaking hitting pop ups, then we would have been able to use Veal/Jones at the end of the game. 26,227 tickets sold
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:55 PM) Finally.....................Danks f***ed that up 100% The problem is that good closers shut the door at that point. Reed, who has no idea of how to do anything but point his body at home plate and fire fastballs at 93-95 that he has no idea where they're going...inevitably falls apart when things tighten up. Ventura will affirm after the game that he's STILL the closer, but there's just no way he can save games against the likes of Jackson, Cabrera, Fielder, etc. They will eat him alive if he can't throw anything but an average MLB FB for a closer, with almost no movement and often center cut.
  10. 6 game losing streak to the ROYALS OVAH. KW BRING BACK BOBBY JENKS.
  11. Give Dyson 2nd, lol. That was inevitable. He might as well steal 3rd so he can score on a wild pitch.
  12. WE OFFICIALLY HAVE NO CLOSER. THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES.
  13. JESUS CHRIST, REED.
  14. SIGH. Setting up for Cain to come to the plate as the go-ahead run.
  15. C'mon, Reed. Pitch. Don't just throw the ball as hard as you can over the plate. There's a mistake behind you, shut the door. Veal and Jones in the bullpen.
  16. Of course, the defensive replacement misses the ball by 2 feet when Danks loses the ball in the lights.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) Would love an insurance run here. I'm hoping we don't see Reed. It looked like he didn't have good velocity last night (sat at 93-94). Surely you jest with this part of the line-up and none of them being fastball hitters. Good ab by Tylers. Walks 9 and 10 on the season in a single game.
  18. FINALLY, Thornton, after 6 seasons, starting to get some huge outs with that hook.
  19. Another out here would be huge and stave off the momentum for KC. 5-3 game and doubts start to creep in about Reed entering.
  20. If Juan Pierre was playing LF, it would be 5-3, no outs and Escobar on 2nd.
  21. Holy hell... Thank god he was out at home. That might save the game. Viciedo with another good play in combination with Ramirez. Could easily have been a 5-4 game and goodbye to the game in all likelihood. Seems 90% of the time after you blow the bases loaded situation the other team fights back in the following inning.
  22. That breaks the string of 13 batters in a row retired. Sunshine gone, 3-1 count. Bad combination. SIGH. Top of the Royals' line-up now. Should have put the game away last inning and now it probably gets interesting again somehow. Crap. This is NOT GOOD. And there's no savior down in that bullpen. Just get the DP here, PLEASE.
  23. 14/74 with RISP. (.189) Breathed some life back into the Royals if they can score here in the 8th. Then there's always the scary possibility of Addison Reed entering the game looming...
