  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 06:57 PM) Think they'll kick the tires on Mike Gonzalez after today? NOPE. We're not in "win now" mode. Rebuilding year. He's not going to be a part of any future with the Sox...why bother?
  2. Feel sorry for Paulie that his homer will get lost a little bit in how the game ended, on the road, etc.
  3. At least we're contributing to Cespedes' All-Star numbers. You'd have to say there's about a 90% chance he's the selection for Oakland. Feel sorry for Kansas City...about the worst possible year for them to host it with how their season has started. The only way it could possibly have ended up in a worse fashion for the White Sox would have been if Manny Ramirez was on the active roster and he hit the walkoff right after Cespedes tied it.
  4. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 06:37 PM) Really? You think pulling a rookie is going to ruin the clubhouse. I think it's worse if he doesn't. Matt Thornton should be closing. It has to be Addison Reed.
  5. Santiago to the minors and we keep watching Beckham, Morel and Viciedo fail? Okay. But Santiago should be tried as a starter, anyway. That will be the FLIGHT FROM HELL coming back home, though. And the Red Sox will be coming in with a 3 game streak...we win four in a row, twice now, give it right back. Once again, the perfect game or no hitter ends up having a bounceback effect on the team.
  6. We picked the wrong Cuban and the wrong closer, lol. If we weren't stuck with those Peavy/Rios/Dunn contracts, we could have had a legit run at Cespedes at least.
  7. Sure, it doesn't matter if we win this game at all. No biggie. Send Santiago to the minors to work as a starter. Reed promoted to closer, etc. It's funny though how we're already throwing Santiago under the bus and Morel and Beckham get years to prove themselves. We criticized Santiago for getting beat on the fastball and 3 of the hits this inning are "waiting in the weeds" offspeed pitches for hits.
  8. LOL at Balta now. Sure, we could still win this game again, but that's probably the end of Santiago as the closer.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 06:27 PM) f***! Please pitch around Cespedes. Too late.
  10. Maybe the key to this game was Ohman coming in and getting Weeks, Sogard and Reddick. At least at this point. The last 2-3 years, our back-end bullpen guys would have blown that game somehow....it was almost an automatic loss.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) So, how many people want to go through this thread and find proclamations that this game was clearly over and done with? 9 times out of 10 when you have 1st/2nd and the runner picked off 2nd and then another thrown out at the plate....ON THE ROAD....a major league team is going to lose that game. It's the fact that we might have the best bullpen in the major leagues (except for Stewart) that saved us. And it's STILL not over, YET.
  12. Thank god, bad pitch in this guy's first appearance of the season out of the minor leagues. Don't stop scoring...and let's put Oakland in the rearview mirror and get on that plane back to Chicago for the big Red Sox series.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) Really? Those two losses to the A's in April were the reason we sucked last year? You think if Thornton starts out 100% in April saves that the season ends up exactly the same way? No way. Those April blown games set the tone for the entire season and they never recovered.
  14. Scary when we have to bunt a runner into scoring position for Eduardo 666 Minor League OPS Escobar.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) It's one hard fought extra inning game. GMAB. Yeah, and you would have said that after our first TWO blown games against the A's too last year. Did we ever recover from those two losses last year? Not really? We subsequently went on our 5-19 streak and that was all she wrote for the season. We were never really in it afterwards.
  16. This is reminiscent of that game last year when Lillibridge fielded a single in deep CF and the runner scored all the way from 1st. Ozzie actually benched him for that...although Rios rarely suffered for about 40-50 misplays in the outfield.
  17. First inning and this last inning, something like five hits, multiple doubles in one inning ZERO FREAKING RUNS. I'll have to agree with Greg's disgraceful tag at this point. This game kills us if we lose.
  18. That freaking throw one-hopped Sogard, too. Everything that can go wrong WILL go wrong.
  19. This is one of those games it just hurts to be a White Sox fan.
  20. Jesus Christ, you've got to be kidding me. No freaking way. No way. No, no, no.
  21. God, this game has just been awful whenever we had runners on 2nd or 3rd, something horrific has happened each time. Feels like a combination of 2009 and 20011 all mixed into one game of bad memories.
  22. YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. That has to be the game, lol.
  23. 7 total bases for Konerko today. HR, 2 singles, and an intentional walk.
