  1. Jones .192 vs. LHB, .328 against RHB. VENTURA IS AN IDIOT. Does Ventura even look at the splits? Jones CANNOT get right-handers out.
  2. One more out away from being out of the inning. NEXT IN.... Ventura turning into Tony LaRussa here with all the relievers available in SEPT.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 07:48 PM) Could be seeing some decent pitching from the Twins next week with Deduno, Diamond and Walters?? If they can't win at home against bad teams in September, they're cooked. It's hard to imagine beating DET 3/4 with how things are going right now against the Tigers.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) What a great time for this team to completely go to sleep. On the bright side, we play Minnesota at home after this series. And the Tigers play the Indians at home.
  5. Hopefully A-Gone or Cody Ross won't show up in the Tigers' line-up now. Or Lew Ford.
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 07:44 PM) Nice call Robin. Let's let him get smacked around hard just one last time before we call it a day. He deserves the chance to do that. And it's not like he was ripped to shreds. The Boesch and Young balls, sure, but walks/control killed him again tonight. Liriano's a veteran, he'll shake it off....and he was still the better option than Omogrosso or Septimo, probably.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) Ha, good thing he started this inning Not unlike Peavy in the 7th last night.
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) The sad thing is that was one of the better at bats by the Sox this whole game. His batting stance sucks. Looks like he his leaning back on his heals. And still no prayer against a 95-100 MPH fastball.
  9. .207 and 589 OPS for Beckham in the 2nd half. Wise might have had a shot at that ball but he was playing too far in and took a slightly wrong route and wasn't able to re-correct at the end.
  10. 0/14 or 0/15 with RISP since the start of yesterday's game. Pathetic.
  11. Advancing runners...not exactly in 2005 first half mode with Iguchi and Pods.
  12. That's why you keep Viciedo. The ball just flies off his bat when he doesn't even take a full swing.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) If you're using "why didn't we get Bedard" as something to complain about as a failure of the GM, then yeah, I'm going to criticize. Maybe, maybe, maybe he'd be better in a spot start...but at the very best it's another crapshoot. We would have been better off just keeping Guthrie off the Royals. Well, at least he was part of a win against the Tigers too, unfortunately it wasn't pitching for us.
  14. Liriano with a 4.5 ERA for the game, lol. Almost inconceivable to have 7 walks in 4 innings and only give up 2 earned runs. Of course, the problem is that our crappy bullpen has to enter in the 5th or definitely the 6th, but we are still only a bloop and a blast from tying it.
  15. 7 walks. LOL. All time thread jinx...should be banned for September just for starting that thread. BTW, Fielder hit .370 in August.
  16. I don't think we could take Liriano and Floyd on the same team. Geez, as exasperating as they are, they can both turn around and be dominant in stretches. Omogrosso and Septimo warming up. YIKES.
  17. Luckily, that ball didn't bounce out of Rios' glove. It hit the heel and stayed in. That would have been a complete disaster.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:18 PM) I do not give one damn about the Detroit Tigers. Kenny Williams' teams have difficulty making the postseason. And until last season, the Tigers could never beat the Twins either, only in 2006. Should Dombrowski also be fired? He's had more money to spend than Williams.
  19. Cy Young could have started for the White Sox and it still wouldn't matter because the offense can't score against Scherzer or get a hit with RISP. Still 0 for the series in a game and a half in that category. Not unlike the Tigers in KC. Thanks to Dyson and Cain, or the Sox would be looking at trailing the Tigers in the standings after tonight by 1 game instead of still ahead by 1.
  20. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:13 PM) This team has a history of not manning up. I care less what the Tigers do. The SOx control their own destiny and they are chocking on their tiny nuts. It happened to the Twins against the Sox in 2008...the Tigers the following season against the Twins. It's not ONLY the White Sox. And let's face it, the Tigers have a lot more talent, overall, than the White Sox.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) Sale and Q were likely going to need a few starts skipped the rest of the way (or at least I hope so). If we just had an "average" AL bullpen this year, we would have had that luxury of not being tied with the Tigers on Sunday. We would have been 3-4 games up on them, no matter what happened in this series. Now every game will have that "do or die" feeling in September...unless KW really is ultra-confident Floyd will be back again, and soon.
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) A staple of this GM's teams. And what did the Tigers do after they swept us last time? They basically fell apart. Are they weak mentally? Two days ago, after the Royals swept them, half the Tigers' fanbase was ready to give up. The season changes on a day by day, and inning by inning basis. 2-0 is far from an insurmountable lead.
  23. One more out to stay alive in this game. Garcia is dangerous.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) KW really needed to find a pitcher during the waiver period. As soon as Floyd went down, there should have been a rush to find someone. I don't think ANYONE, let alone KW, expected that Axelrod could go out and basically throw 5 quality starts in 7 tries. That's revisionist thinking, based on how he's pitched a couple of times out this year. He's also been lit up like a Christmas tree.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) He won't be back next year with the Sox Still, he's pitched pretty darned well in 5/7 starts. That's not bad at all for a 5th starter and someone who basically cost us nothing in return. Without him, where would we be?
