Forgot about that possibility. DON'T BUNT ALEXEI.
-
I'm thinking missed squeezed play and DP or triple play.
-
Maybe all of our hitters should just deliberately miss on bunt attempts and just swing away with 2 strikes.
-
Rios now 6/7 against Fister. At least he can hit someone. Dropping those balls into LCF with parachutes right off the label.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) Very nice 3-2 change-up to Smoak. The previous change he hung and really got away with one the way Smoak's been going recently.
-
Based on Beckham turning on a fastball and pulling it down the left-field line against Felix in the 8th and his first AB in this game, two consecutive hits FEELS like progress. What else do we have?
-
I think if you had to watch the White Sox and Mariners play more than 2 series in one season any baseball fan would go crazy. Ugly! Well, maybe Beckham's starting to turn for the better. MAYBE. Smoak 'Em If You Got Him, Gavin.

1/2 with the predictability score on Corpseball.
-
Bradley getting booed, lol. Dunn's big swing off the end of the bat really fooled him. Maybe Adam will get back to .200 before June 1st. Now, how do we NOT score this time? Predictions? DP ball by Quentin and 4-3 groundout by AJ? Ooops, forgot the K possibility. Now's time for the tailor-made DP, AJ.
-
No, it just shows how athletic Dyson is, Greg. He scored on a pop fly to the shortstop into very short LF earlier in the week. If we pinch ran Usain Bolt for Beckham, we would have a 2-0 lead, too.
-
And that's why Figgins didn't need to bunt last night, lol@AJ. I know, Floyd's horrible at holding runners, too. Worst possible combination for the Sox.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 7, 2011 -> 07:58 PM) Somebody tell me how what just happened is FN possible...............unreal. Well, Pierre can't drive the ball into the OF and Morel made a typical rookie baserunning mistake on a softly hit ball? Can we just close this thread now before a total meltdown occurs? I guess there's no longer enough fans who care to spend their Saturday on White Sox baseball to even get upset. Now even Konerko's getting into the act with the error. This is almost incredible.
-
OF COURSE. WHITE SOX BASEBALL. Finding new ways not to score runners from 3rd with less than 2 outs.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 7, 2011 -> 07:48 PM) Estaban Loaiza had the most consistent season ever? Can Hawk ever make a statement where he doesn't engage in ridiculous hyperbole. Just like the White Sox teams. Consistent until late in the season or they're facing the Twins. Then they consistently lose.
-
Getting a fortunate break there. Can we actually score the runner from 3rd? Beckham actually kicked his glove with the tip of his shoe as he was jumping over him.
-
Hosmer with his first hit, a sharp groundball through the right side of the infield. You can cancel the post-game with B-Mac.
-
LOL at the Knights starting Gaby Hernandez and his 9+ ERA. Wilkins with his 5th HR, 3 RBI blast.
-
Undo the Danks/McCarthy trade!!!! Joking...sort of. McCarthy has really changed mechanically. He's still throwing 92-93 MPH, but his arm angle is a lot closer to 3/4's or 4/5th's and he's totally reversed himself from a flyball, high in the strikezone pitcher to one a lot more similar to Jon Garland.
-
I think he only had 4 or 5 K's. I've seen him more dominant with his fastball moving a bit more and racking up massive K numbers with his curveball, but to have gun readings in the 100's in the 9th inning of a no-hitter is pretty unreal. He was more economical with his pitches and less concerned than when he came up with striking out everyone in sight. You could see him huffing and puffing, the adrenaline was really flowing.

If Rios was so great, there would be ONE team in MLB who would take his contract on besides the White Sox. We'll quickly find out this year if that's the case, and soon. Because at least 18-20 teams would take Alexei as their starting SS.
-
Even CarGo struggles sometimes. (Who's obviously in an elite category, not comparing him to Smoak/Wallace/Beckham/Gordon, etc.) Brandon McCarthy with a perfect game through 4 against the "powerful" Royals line-up. ERA all the way down to 2.80 on the season. Morel's back in the line-up, hitting 9th. Beckham 8th, Rios 7th and AJ 6th. Hopefully there's a better idea to shake up this team than switching AJ and Alex...doesn't seem too dramatic.

QUOTE (High Mileage @ May 7, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) Assuming KC falls out of the race, we could have some interesting trade chips. Melky Cabrera, Bruce Chen, Jeff Francis, Wilson Betemit, Mike Aviles, Matt Treanor, etc. Jeff Francoeur has pretty much played into getting his option picked up already, so he'll be back I'm sure. Hopefully Kyle Davies can gain some value too, even a fringe prospect... Attendance of 30,690 (80.4% full) last night for Hosmers' debut, second most since Opening Day. Lorenzo Cain is getting it together in Omaha. Current line of .292/.393/.431... I'm not so certain that Moore will trade Cabrera. What's the compelling reason to do so, as he still has a favorable contract? The walk-up last night was 9,845, and I'd assume 75% of that was Hosmer-related, so he's already created $150,000 of additional revenue just by being recalled. The Cardinals might take a look at Betemit. Francis has SOME value because of his playoff experience with the Rockies, but not much. I really don't think you'll get much for either Treanor or Aviles, though. With Francoeur, the obvious concern is him cooling off and the Royals not trading him when it's possible. There's about a 25% chance he will continue to sustain his success, and a 75% chance he regresses to his "mean" for the last 2-3 years.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2011 -> 09:27 AM) You've got it reversed, the annual ritual is the Twins sending us into a tailspin, not t'other way round. Well, you can certainly argue in 2003 when they ended up sweeping us out of September (after we'd beaten them 2 games in a row in a four game series but struggled in the infamous Jose Paniagua game to close it out), in 2004 when Burke was run over by Hunter, or when Thome punked Thornton (as well as the big Jenks blown save when we were up 3 1/2 games after the AS Break), they've gone on to cruise through the season after big confrontations with the White Sox. I said it somewhere, whoever sweeps through the 2 game series has a decent chance to salvage their season. The other team will be dead.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) I really don't mind your b****ing about every White Sox prospect, but when you mention other teams' prospect you fail to mention they have struggled at times too. Brett Wallace was horrid last year. You were very wrong about Humber, and since you think Beckham sucks, you will be wrong about him. I do think we should wait until at least the ASB before we start crowing about Humber being a feather in KW's or Cooper's cap. It was a good "no risk" acquisition, but there's a long season to go for Beckham to redeem himself and Humber to falter. Unfortunately, Beckham didn't produce (along with 4-5 other guys) when he was most needed, and it's made the season almost irrelevant from here on out, except as "developmental" trial and error in setting up for 2012 and playing spoiler.

Raul Ibanez and Jose Baustisa, anyone? LOL.
