Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Only for publicly traded companies when someone owns at least let’s say 5% of the company…you can see which mutual funds, retirement/pension funds own pretty much exactly how many shares and when they were purchased or sold and at what price.

2025 MLB season...catch-all for non-Sox, non AL-Central
https://twinsdaily.com/forums/topic/69808-what-have-i-twins-done-to-deserve-this/ 3 of the top 10 #MNTwins projects are injured - Emma, Raya, and Jenkins. This song by the Pet Shop Boys is running through my head. I want to serenade the baseball gods imploring them - What have I done to deserve this? Or West End Girls, lol...

2025 MLB season...catch-all for non-Sox, non AL-Central
Eduarniel Nunez, 25, San Diego Padres This is an elite arm. Think Jason Adam. Nunez posted eye-popping fastball metrics in his appearance against the Mariners: 96.8 mph with a spin rate of 2,661 rpm. Only six pitchers threw four-seamers in an MLB game last year with that kind of velocity and spin (minimum of four fastballs): Padres' Jason Adam, Michael Kopech, Jeff Hoffman, Ryan Helsley, SFGs' Randy Rodriguez and Twins' Brock Stewart. Not bad for a non-roster invitee whom the Padres quickly snapped up as a minor league free agent after Nunez spent eight seasons in the Cubs’ system. His slider spin rate (2,911) and curveball spin rate (2,931) are also elite. Yikes. Of course, there are reasons why the Cubs did not give him a 40-man roster spot: poor mechanics and poor control. Nunez still cannot consistently throw his fastball for a strike when he needs it. He has walked 6.1 batters per nine innings in 190 minor league games, including 26 in 23 2/3 innings last year in his first look at Triple-A. Minor league free agent, spent 8 years in the Cubs' system...could be the next Estrada (also from Cubs)/Suarez bullpen find Ethan Routzahn, 26, San Diego Padres This is another success story when it comes to hard work, technology and instruction. Undrafted after playing for three colleges (Dallas Baptist, Northwest Florida State College and St. John’s), Routzahn signed with San Diego after pitching for Trenton in MLB’s Draft League. At age 26 in High A with an 88.4 mph sinker, Routzahn did not appear to be on a track to the big leagues. Always a hard worker, he decided to check in with Driveline to work smarter. ... On Saturday, Routzahn threw his sinker on 13 of 17 pitches. It’s a low-spin sinker with crazy movement down and to the arm side. He could be a workhorse, groundball reliever with deception, in the manner of Ryan Thompson and John Schreiber or a righthanded version of Hoby Milner. https://www.si.com/mlb/eight-pitchers-spring-training-better-stuff

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
We basically are going to be perceived as a "good place to get your career back on track," which isn't an altogether bad thing if Katz/Bannister keep seeing their reputations across the industry increase. Paying him $9 million or putting him into the starting rotation never made a whole lotta sense for the White Sox, but it was definitely an interesting/eye-raising contract proffered by the Nationals.

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Yes, essentially the Flexen role last year. Shuster didn't really do anything to "lose" his job after being rostered all last season...so they must like something about him. The last vestiges of the biggest trade in Getz's career before Garrett Crochet, lol. Along with Gowens. Seems fairly likely that Steven Wilson is on course (at least so far) to make it back to the majors this spring.

Sox Spring Training notes
White Sox: RHP Grant Taylor The White Sox are heavier in the pitching prospects, so the natural choices would be Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith, the top two left-handed pitching prospects in the game, per MLB Pipeline, who threw back-to-back scoreless innings on Feb. 26 at Camelback Ranch. But instead this nod goes to Taylor, who topped out at 101.2 mph during his first appearance in Surprise on Feb. 23. The right-hander is a starter to watch, after being drafted while he was recovering from Tommy John and dealing with a lat issue in ‘24. He has the stuff to be a high-end member of the rotation. -- Scott Merkin mlb.com

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Let's assume Reinsdorf and Sons are at 20%. Hobson, just for argument's sake, 30%. 50% unaccounted, for other than the 5-10% Ishbia was reported to have purchased as early as 2021. That means Ishbia wouldn't even be at 50%, unless Mellody/Lucas sold their shares to him at the $1.8 valuation. In theory, they could have tried to also buy a controlling interest, or could JR lock them out/block them for the Ishbia's bid/offer???

Sox Spring Training notes
They will move him to third next...although natural replacement for Vaughn or DH as well. Elko and Wolkow eventually there...hopefully George can stay at corner OF. Braden would be RF in all likelihood.

Forgot about Matt Thaiss over Narvaez at backup catcher.

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Shuster is going to be hard to dislodge because he can be a "swing man"along with Wilson.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
From a PR standpoint...if he's not the majority shareholder right now...it could only be Mellody Hobson at 30%. Both are huge stories that will have to come out eventually. If we believe she actually acquired the shares with Lucas from 2021-22. How many of the remaining shateholders are willing to invest millions into a new White Sox stadium? Can't be many non billionaires on that list. And will the one minority shateholder (father died and passed on shares) connected to partying with Clevinger Plesac during Covid take the money and run?

2025 MiLB Catch All thread
Pallette is relieving right now and it's going to be a shocker if our vertically-challenged RFer makes the team....now with Drury/Gallo, etc. Not sure what they do with Narvaez...maybe he's the MLB back-up, if he's up for it. Gray isn't much of an outfielder, he's used to playing all three infield positions...but why not? None of the outfielders are legit prospects...not even Veras. Not sure what the point of continuing to start Eder is...might push up Carela if he's not in AAA, just to see what happens.

Have seen Garrett Schoenle pitch this spring but no Adisyn Coffey...what's the latest? Coffey to High A or Birmingham?

3/2 - Sox @ Dodgers 2:05 CST - spring training
I don't think it's an automatic thing he gets traded if he can keep pitching this well...Cannon is much more likely to be a 4/5 guy, but we don't exactly know Martin's full potential coming off a major injury. It would ALSO be huge if Thorpe can at least eventually be a "guy" the holds down the back of the rotation and NOT just with a 5.0-6.0 ERA. Perez and Wilson will eventually get traded at some point...but you have to start building somewhere. At least guys like Martin and Shane Smith have some decent "upside" compared to some of the guys we have out in the bullpen.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Is it BETTER to root for the White Sox to lose more than 121 games to put additional pressure on the Reinsdorfs to acquiesce with the Bulls also collapsing? Or to root for his death? That seems too macabre. Because both options for White Sox fans absolutely stink. To root for the Cubs to have a deep playoff run and get ALL the attention in Chicago...beginning with the Tokyo Series and NPB exhibition coming up in the middle of March (leaving the 12th)??? But we're in a position of hoping that the minority shareholders don't see any light at the end of the tunnel and give up (getting even more money from the Ishbias)...or that he actually has to start offering LESS than $1.8 team valuation per share to get them off the fence if the team continues to struggle on the field, with tv radio ratings/sponsorships AND with getting a new stadium built relying primarily on the Reinsdorfs...which isn't going ANYWHERE at the moment.

So average to below average for a major league reliever the last three years...? Maybe a tick higher than average for a lefty. Ofc Alex Vesia gets away with it due to his control and off speed stuff.

We will know from mlb if they're approved at least...or certainly NOT approved. Which wouldn't happen after JR brought him in and specifically recruited him off the Twins' purchase from the Pohlads at $1.5 billion.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
All the Dan Hayes and Aaron Gleeman reporting when the Ishbias were both connected to the Twins...they said all reporting out there is that the 2021 share purchase was in the single digits. We know (now) the Reinsdorf sons were buying then as well...and maybe Melody Hobson. That was 30% supposedly. Reinsdorf theoretically around 17.5-25% right now.

Wasn't Eder at 93-96 touching 97 last time out? Dead arm periods are unlikely this early. It's just about his availability to bounce back regularly in 1-2 days. You can't make them wait three days if you're an mlb reliever.
