  2. Thomas was 7th. Anderson Burger in that 10-20 range. Collins too. Rodon Vaughn Madrigal 3-4. 5-9 picks have always been unusual. for Sox. Fulmer too?
  3. A Cook County judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a Winnetka resident alleging that a proposed land swap between the Winnetka Park District and billionaire Justin Ishbia violates the state's park district code and its public trust doctrine. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2023/10/09/judge-dismisses-lawsuit-filed-by-winnetka-resident-over-proposed-land-swap-between-park-district-and-billionaire/ https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins-podcasts/gleeman-the-geek-ishbia-st-peter-and-abs-r17850/ Somewhere between 25 mins and 40…apparently there’s a 90 min Dan Hayes Patreon on the Ishbia withdrawal and why he picked the Sox. 1) distressed asset, more future value Sox a sleeping giant, media market/city size 2) home and business already located here, opportunity to be the big hero and build a new stadium, whereas Minnesota won’t do anything in that area for 10-15 more if not 20 years
  4. Stocky? Kind of like a fireplug...
  5. MLB has held early discussions with Netflix, Amazon and Comcast about its media rights, John Ourand of Puck reported Thursday, but those talks have not focused specifically on the ESPN package that expires after this season. Instead, discussions are said to have focused just as much on 2028, when all of the MLB media rights will be available. Amazon’s Prime Video service currently offers locally-produced MLB games by way of partnerships with Main Street Sports Group (formerly Diamond Sports) — operator of the FanDuel Sports Network RSNs — and a separate agreement with YES Network. Comcast owns a handful of RSNs that carry MLB games and previously owned a $30 million/year Sunday morning package of MLB games from 2022-23 that it elected not to renew. Netflix, which is growing a burgeoning sports operation, has never carried MLB. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2025/02/mlb-media-rights-talks-amazon-nbc-netflix-espn-2028/ Per Ourand, Fox Sports has expressed interest in one piece of the ESPN package, the annual Home Run Derby. ESPN is also said to “expect to reengage” with MLB, as the company’s decision to opt-out of its contract was always believed to be a step toward a renegotiation, rather than a full split. 6. https://www.mlb.com/news/jake-burger-hits-home-run-after-daughter-s-surgery A slimmed-down Dominic Fletcher has been impressive early on in camp and is already on the 40-man roster. Among the many veteran non-roster invites, Brandon Drury has corner outfield experience and most recently put forth a successful season at the plate. But as a left-handed power threat who wouldn’t need to make a full-time return to the outfield to serve as a Benintendi replacement, Joey Gallo’s presence in camp only takes on greater prominence. Bobby Dalbec is athletic enough to play the outfield and willing to boot, as is Brooks Baldwin. Oscar Colás is definitively still here. Wilfred Veras Island is always open to new residents. https://soxmachine.com/2025/02/andrew-benintendi-to-miss-4-6-weeks-with-broken-right-hand/ No mention of Zach DeLoach, Cal Mitchell, lol...
  7. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/calvin-mitchell/22169/stats?position=OF You're forgetting once upon a time 2nd round draft pick Cal Mitchell. Yet another negative career fWAR guy for the Sox to tout. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/canaan-smith-njigba/23264/stats?position=OF Still listed as a FA.
  8. Peaked at 4.4 fWAR in 2018...2.1 in 2022, before we gave him the big contract.
  9. This is what you get when you rely upon an AI aggregated search, lol...
  10. Olerud broke into MLB with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1989, without ever playing in the minors. Prior to the 1990 season, he was named the #3 prospect in MLB by Baseball America. Yep, add him to a SHORT SHORT list. #3 prospect, vs. Braden Montgomery in the 40's through 60's, with one rating service not even having him in the Top 100 since he didn't play last year in short-season ball due to injury. Incaviglia and Abbott were both Top 10 rated/legendary college players/pitchers.
  11. Steve Dunning (1970), Mike Morgan (A's pitcher), Pete Incaviglia (Univ Texas), Dave Winfield, Dave Roberts (Padres), Brian Milner (Blue Jays), Jim Abbott (Michigan), Xavier Nady (Padres), those are the notables players to go directly from draft/NCAA or high school baseball directly to the major leagues without ANY MiLB seasoning. Basically, 23 players have done it since 1965...with Winfield clearly the most successful, a HoFer out of Minnesota.
  12. And while Ishbia would probably financially back contract extensions and free agent signings for the right players, now isn’t the time to suddenly start spending. Injecting millions of dollars into the Sox roster as it enters its rebuild period would be misusing money. Even moving to a new ballpark at the end of Rate Field’s lease in 2029 is putting the cart before the horse. The Sox need to focus on the mechanics and fundamentals of baseball before they can envision all the bells and whistles. While Ishbia seems like the perfect fit for the Sox, Chicago can’t get ahead of themselves. Ishbia has the tools needed to get the Sox in the limelight in a positive way, but the Sox need to work on themselves first. https://southsideshowdown.com/prospective-new-chicago-white-sox-owner-emergence-fits-organization-rebuild-timeline

  14. Melody Hobson might be more of a passive investor, just looking for ROI/RoR. We MIGHT find out something more on Friday. There's no way in hell I would want either Reinsdorf or Getz around my $1.8 billion dollar investment. They gone.
  15. Benintendi doesn't matter. Sunk cost. It actually opens up more playing time. The only problem is it's going to make it even harder to trade him in June/July....he's got to hit like he did the second half of the season from May on, and he's got to play at least "solid" defense and not be such a liability... Montgomery back issues are much more concerning.
  16. We thought Vaughn was rushed...the guy hasn't even played MiLB baseball in short season format. And he's coming off a relatively major injury as well to his ankle/foot. He's at the earliest a late 2027/early 2027 (May) arrival.
  17. Cal Mitchell, another LF option, had a really great play the following day but struggled with another...supposedly due to the sun, according to the broadcasters.

Milwaukee Baltimore Seattle Cincy Dodgers Red Sox are the Top 5 https://www.mlb.com/news/marcelo-mayer-roman-anthony-kristian-campbell-impress-in-camp?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Elias still the center of controversy lol. And the Mariners not supporting their pitching core.
  19. Between Moncada Jimenez Robert in 2024...and Benintendi already this year, lots of wasted millions.
  20. Oscar Cola, lol...is this the one where the ball went off his head in LF or an altogether different play where he had a throwing to "nowhere" error?
  21. I think I would prefer him to Amaya not that it would ever happen.
  22. Those are all small markets though. Think Ishbia's going to believe he can fit at least 40-42,000 in Chicago...37-38000 on lowest side.
  23. But how did Bergolla look? And Bazzana?
  24. Well, McKenzie still sucks…Sosa big day…and scrounged out four runs with just five hits on the day. Winning ugly. Summary for Greg.
