  1. Let's wait before we start calling anything in the Sox possession a top group of relievers until they can prove it at the highest level.
  2. Still ahead of Miami TB Oak in attendance. It's ludicrous KC is having the season they're having and only in 26th and barely 20000 per game with Witt starring on that team.
  3. If they do beat the 62 Mets record it's all Get is going to hear the entire off season. How could you let things get that bad when you were supposedly competing? And didn't trade either Crochet or Robert.
  4. No encouragement for lengthy Vargas at bat?
  5. It's always that way on travel days but especially after school is back in session...so opposing teams can get out of town earlier.
  6. Greg will definitely be asking for fan refunds on this one.
  7. Doesn't go along with believing all pitchers are essentially high injury risks....unless you will actually consider breaking the trend and finally extending one again after Danks went south. 4-6 years...not just 2-3.
  8. Miguel Cleto comes to mind. Santos too

Julio Rodriguez is even more of a bust than Robert then, at least this season, because they absolutely needed him to compete with Houston. https://www.mlb.com/player/julio-rodriguez-677594
  10. Massey has been solid too for KC...772 ops would lead the White Sox. Freddie Fermin at 761 as well.
  11. And fixed his back and lack of stretching/flexibility too? Maybe banning him from all long plane rides lol?
  12. What happened to Shirley? Haber was that heavily involved in the draft, and now totally out of baseball...
  13. https://www.mlb.com/news/michael-lorenzen-exits-with-injury-against-guardians?partnerId=it-20240828-10889170-mlb-1-A&utm_id=it-20240828-10889170-mlb-1-A&lctg=34656683 But at the end of the night -- just before Tuesday turned into Wednesday -- the Royals moved into a tie with the Guardians for the American League Central lead with a 6-1 win at Progressive Field. And by clinching the season series -- 7-2 with four more games to play -- Kansas City also owns the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Guardians had held a lead in the division since April 13. On June 25, the Royals were 10 games out of first place.
  14. Sal Perez +129 Witt +177 Pasquantino +108 DeJong +155 Basically, Lugo, Wacha, Ragans and Singer have all been above average starting pitchers. All at 129-136 ERA+. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/KCR/2024.shtml Bullpen hasn't been all that great. McArthur their closer with 18 saves and pretty pedestrian-sounding numbers.
  15. They sold parking and concessions tonight, right? Guess they probably still lost money based on the costs of all those workers just to show up and wait around for a couple of hours at least, security, etc.
  16. Well, Generation X is more like Greg's typical experience, but I was also a spoiled only child (mother stayed home and then she just worked part-time at a cafeteria, Hardee's, etc.) and my father always got home around 3:30-3:45 as he had a carpool to work at the Rock Island Arsenal at 6:00 a.m. and came back earlier than most dads. Never missed a single sporting event in my life, except things like cross country that were right after school...and he even made it to the end of the meet when they were close and not "away" meets. Both parents always (run, _________, run!!!!, my mom) came to Little League through elementary and middle school (soccer/basketball)...then in high school until I got a girlfriend that I dated 3-4 years and eventually decided I'd rather be with her than play, haha. We had actually met in a Catholic church's gym when I hit her with a spike accidentally and asked if he she was okay. No we don't blame my parents' generation (born in 1929 and 1936) for all of the problems of the modern world...or the "Greatest Generation" that fought and survived WWII and Korea.
  17. Well, we witnessed a miraculous recovery from Rodon with his back against the wall in 2021. Tim Anderson...not so much
  18. Ranks right up there with Maldonado Lopez basically the entire ATL trade for Bummer. Shuster has been only one to come close to performing pretty decently.
  19. Statistically Fedde was Top 20ish in all of MLB.
  20. In fairness to Vargas, imagine going from arguably the best team in baseball to inarguably the worst and how much of a shock to the system it must all have been to process.
  21. Not to mention all the opportunities pitcher that could be part of the future would have enjoyed to prove themselves. Seems like ever since Leasure fizzled out Grifol just went to the veterans, period...as far as high leverage spots.
  22. Yet most former players in their prime years are playing much better away from the cesspool. Not shocking at all from a human psychology stand point. Then you have had the constant trade rumors....losing most of his teammates and returning to the field before he was 100% ready, just like his last major groin injury.
  23. Oscar Colas...come on down. I can't imagine why any Hispanic player would want to be anywhere around the White Sox now, if you throw in Robert's darkest thoughts about quitting the sport. Grandal Moncada and Eloy just about imploded...and Abreu very nearly with the Sox for his nadir. Then you have Vargas looking like a lost/abandoned puppy.
