Sox looking at building in South Loop
Orlando might have the financial base, but the nature of all those amusement parks being the top priority for visitors and the fact that you would be relying on supplemental tourist traffic (not unlike Las Vegas) complicates matters, not to mention the ongoing political dispute between Disney and the governor's office. Then there's the weather issue (dome or no dome)...would probably be an outdoor facility to fit in with the vibe of that area. Not to mention you're starting to run into Braves' territory going further north...built-in through all of those years of TBS/TNT and connected by the interstate.

19 Bally RSN's going bankrupt, 14 MLB teams potentially affected
Rhttps://www.dailybulletin.com/2024/10/29/dodgers-franchise-stadium-giant-sports-complex-coming-to-ontario/ Yes, they just spent $100 million on renovations…but that’s pocket change compared to the Ohtani Betts and Matsumoto deals. And twenty years is an eternity, the Rangers had three stadiums in that timespan.

Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
The only way keeping Crochet sort of makes any sense is if you’re drafting the equivalent of Stephen Strasburg/Skenes @ 1-1 this year (not next) and bringing him to the majors directly from college to compete this season…but that would require $400-500 million at a minimum of FA spending to shore up the starting lineup. Not even sure the equivalent of Alex Bregman ($182 million), Alonso ($125 million) , Adames/Kim and Teoscar Hernandez ($60 million) spread across the field would give you a competitive lineup without Luis Robert having a monster bounceback year as well. You’d need RoY performances from Montgomery and Quero too. And we still haven’t spent money on a more proven closer…but Tanner Scott would be another $56 million according to MLBTR.

The bigger problem is Crochet just follows along in the line of Sale Quintana Rodon Giolito Cease Lopez Kopech, heck even Fedde … having success with other organizations. Or at least getting paid by them. So being a feeder team for MLB or the equivalent of the Washington Generals doesn’t really accomplish all that much for fans of sustainable, winning baseball. And the far bigger problem clearly lies on the position player side. Until that’s fixed, we could produce the 1990’s Braves rotations and still be a .500 ballclub.

Largely due to concerns about how thin he was and the profile looked more like a high leverage reliever…at least at FGCU. They also protected him so much by having him throw FBs at lower velocity unless he really needed to ramp up into the high 90s in key situations.

Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart
That could tempt Sasaki to head to a team where he'd take on a starring role. It will probably take time for the 23-year-old to round into ace form at the next level, but he could be in line for more off-field, non-MLB salary with a team like the Atlanta Braves or Tampa Bay Rays, both of which Bowden name-checks. He also mentions the San Diego Padres, who offer Sasaki a chance to play on the west coast and with a longtime mentor in 38-year-old Yu Darvish, who is under contract through 2028. That may be the perfect setup. Sasaki can learn at Darvish's altar for a few years before taking over as the Padres' No. 1 ace when the moment arrives and Darvish hangs 'em up. Darvish has a closer relationship to Sasaki than Ohtani or Yamamoto, and he probably won't stand in the way of endorsements for the rookie fireballer. If we want to read the tea leaves of Bowden's report, perhaps we should start calling San Diego the "favorite" to land Sasaki. https://fansided.com/it-sure-sounds-like-roki-sasaki-isn-t-destined-for-dodgers-after-all-01jcpk0g0ckr also interesting... The way for teams to differentiate themselves in the Sasaki sweepstakes will be endorsement opportunities. While one might expect the Dodgers to present the clearest path to ad revenue in Sasaki's pocket, he would be playing in the shadow of Ohtani and Yamamoto. According to Bowden, New York Mets ace Kodai Senga received more endorsement money (probably referring to Japanese sponsors here) than Yamamoto last season because the latter was second-fiddle to Ohtani in the Japanese marketplace.

Field: Versatile defender who has played second base, third base, shortstop and center field. Looks most comfortable at second base, where he played in college. At short and third, shows solid athleticism and range, but is a little unorthodox with his movements. In the outfield, he Is still learning the nuances of the position, especially with his reads and routes, but has the raw athleticism and speed you look for out there and to cover up for most errors. Potential average defensive profile with the versatility to adequately play at least three positions. Arm: Fringe-average arm. Passable on the left side of the infield, but best suited for second base. Summation: Potential above-average regular. Ceiling of a consistent all-star. Still has some variance in his projection due to his unorthodox swing, but is a plus athlete who has taken a major step forward in 2024 and established himself as one of the top prospects not just in the organization, but in all of baseball. Has made massive strides at the plate with his quality of contact while maintaining the ability to make good swing decisions. Hit-over-power profile, but hits the ball hard enough that he should be able to hit 15-plus home runs a season and a bunch of extra base hits while maintaining a high average and consistently getting on base. https://soxprospects.com/players/campbell-kristian.htm

"And while some might argue that the second base job should go to prospect Kristian Campbell, there's no comparison between a rookie and an established star like Bregman, besides which, Campbell can also play shortstop and outfield; there are other ways to get his bat into the lineup if that's the goal. Signing Bregman would also open the possibility of making Campbell the centerpiece of a deal for young pitching, should management choose to fill any rotation openings that way." www.yahoo.com/sports

CHSN to be available on antenna in Chicago
But none of those teams are looking at 3-4 consecutive years of 100 losses, including the worst season of all-time...and the White Sox tv ratings were always relatively low compared to the Cubs, and that's even when they were good in recent years (2020/21).

He actually has to win a major trade first...or it will be just like the Bears and developing a QB. (Or even not messing up already developed prospects.)

Eaton was an established top prospect with AZ and put up a huge fWAR season playing RF in 2016 due to a boat load of assists...almost double the overall Aybar numbers. Plus he was a legit stolen base threat at that time as well, and overall health was not yet a concern.

Sammy Peralta and Nicky Lopez clear waivers & elect free agency
Fedde was Top 15-20 in fWAR for most of the season. Was Aroldis Chapman's value higher than that when KC pilfered Cole Ragans from the Rangers for him? At the very least, he'd be a comparable value to Nick Martinez after his initial success out of the KBO with SD.

Williams is having one of the worst QB seasons in recent memory, ranking last among 106 quarterbacks since 2021 in catchable throw rate. He also ranks last in pressure-to-sack ratio over that span. Chicago’s offensive line has been average in pass blocking, while Williams has the highest average time to pressure in the league. When not pressured, Williams ranks 31st in Success Rate. He has the worst completion percentage on throws 15+ yards among 468 QBs over the past 15 years. Williams’ first career nine starts haven’t been quite as bad as Bryce Young or David Carr, but he’s right in their territory. Williams has faced the third easiest schedule-adjusted QB schedule so far! And he gets the eighth toughest moving forward. When not facing Jacksonville or Carolina defenses that rank bottom-three in EPA/pass this season, Williams has averaged 179.3 passing yards (5.3 YPA!) with only three touchdown passes over seven games. The Bears fired OC Shane Waldron, and even the discussion of benching Williams is shocking for someone with his college resume. Reportedly, some veteran teammates are calling for Tyson Bagent. https://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy-football-panic-meter-caleb-williams-and-the-bears-are-down-bad-155703368.html

They're just not going to give a single player a contract that's equal to their entire 25 man payroll over the span of three years, 2024-2026. You're acting like they are the Padres all of a sudden. That's also 4x the size of the Grandal and Benintendi contracts. Start talking that way as soon as they have new ownership. That contract would blow up the franchise if he ever had Danks-like career turn, major shoulder/labrum injury, etc.
