  1. "The Sox fell to 31-100, giving them back-to-back seasons of 100 or more losses for the first time in club history. They’re the second-fastest to reach triple-digit losses in the modern era behind the 1916 Philadelphia Athletics, who did it one game sooner at 29-100-1." Rick Morrissey suntimes.com/sports
  2. That fight after rapid improvement was 95% leverage for a new stadium and 5% for the fans.
  3. RS/RA -123 LAA -184 Miami Marlins -208 Colorado Rockies -276 Chicago White Sox 32.7% worse than the 2nd worst team in COL!!!
  4. Just stupid. I bet most of those scouts would love to do some advanced work on finding players for the potential Crochet and/or Robert trades if that work wasn't completed in June/July...trying to figure a way to turn the Titanic around if it hasn't already hit the iceberg and filled up 5/8 of the "watertight" compartments.
  5. https://sports.yahoo.com/rookie-jackson-merrill-hits-walk-231142849.html "It was the 19th homer for Jackson Merrill, a 21-year-old who is pushing Pittsburgh's Paul Skenes for NL Rookie of the Year. “He's that guy,” Profar said. “He has it. Every time he steps up to the plate like that ... everyone in the dugout called it.” Jake Cronenworth struck out before Merrill went yard. Merrill once again deflected attention away from himself when asked how the walk-off homer felt. “Same thing as every day we win: We won the game. That is what it felt like. Any thoughts on myself, or anything, that’s all for the team," he said. Cronenworth whispered something to Merrill before he went to the plate. “I'm trying to be more in the zone, swinging at better pitches, and him telling what was happening with the pitches, it helped," Merrill said. Merrill was a prized shortstop prospect when the Padres converted him to center field in spring training to fill the hole left when Trent Grisham was sent to the New York Yankees along with Juan Soto in a blockbuster trade in December. Merrill made the opening day lineup and has dazzled with his bat and glove. “I've said it a lot of times, since I stepped on the field with him in spring training, he showed me that he's that type of guy,” said Profar, who is having a career year at age 31 and on a $1 million contract. Merrill said slapping five with Profar "was cool. But we're here for each other. It's not just one person that did it.” It was Merrill's second walk-off homer. The Padres have 33 comeback wins and eight walk-offs."
  6. 100 losses (and counting): Will White Sox's woes ever end? https://sports.yahoo.com/white-sox-reach-100-losses-for-6th-time-in-franchise-history-how-many-more-will-they-lose-211800332.html This is the sixth time in franchise history that the White Sox have lost 100 games. It happened twice before MLB expanded in 1961, first in 1932 (49-102) and then in 1948 (51-101). Since 1961, it has happened four times: 1970 (56-106), 2018 (62-100), 2023 (61-101) and now 2024. While the 2024 season has yet to be completed, the Sox need just six more losses to tie the record for worst team in franchise history (set in 1970) and seven to take the outright lead. With 31 games left to play this season, they have a legitimate chance to become the losingest team in modern MLB history, a record that is currently held by the 1962 New York Mets, who lost 120 games in their first year of existence.
  7. Name managers won't come without a $2-3 million contract at a minimum and at least 3 if not 4/5 years guaranteed. Seems highly unlikely anyone would actively desire to take over the worst team in baseball history.
  8. DeJong Fedde that's it
  9. Not ready yet/years of control/will get hit around so much their confidence will get dinged like Nastrini Bush Cannon (recently) Berroa Leasure etc. Defense not supporting, either. Makes GM who acquired callups look like he's in over his head with decision making and judging big league readiness/competitiveness. Still better to watch youngsters than retreads from fan perspective.
  10. In terms of impact though, getting zero return for Fedde/Kopech/Pham and the possibility of Robert being mostly a salary dump and Crochet bringing back 50-75% of what he should have gotten this past trade deadline. They had a chance to build a Crochet/Smith/Schultz led rotation for the future OR OR OR building around Crochet’s trade return (position players), Wetherholt/Cags and Robert and will end up going in neither direction, without ANY discernible plan moving forward, a defense or a bullpen.
  11. As both are career below-average 2B? I can understand misdiagnosing pitching, catching and outfield play… But we doubled down on Moncada when he was leaving at the end of season regardless, wasting $29 million and simultaneously traded away Burger… Ramos has regressed… Montgomery has regressed… Gonzalez and Baldwin were both pushed up too quickly after experiencing a little bit of success. Lopez and Shewmake were just not good moves. Have one of the worst defensive 1B in modern baseball in Vaughn. Sosa despite claims he starts off slow and then adjusts looks mired in the 500s ops-wise yet again. VargUs? Well, he might be the worst player in baseball. And Tim Anderson wasn’t traded last year when that should have been the choice over dumping Burger, pretty much regardless of the projected return. And we illogically insist on keeping Sheets around yet again for one of his invariable hot swings…name only mentioned as he should be 1B/DH only. DeJong was the only one we got right…but then we traded him to a divisional rival to help them to the WC. They better be right NOT acquiring Keaschall AND drafting Bonemer, because they have a truly shitty record on middle infield prospects, where they SHOULD have the MOST expertise but seemingly have the least. Anyone on SoxTalk could get 1/10 prospect moves right. ChatBots should be smoking the Sox at this point. 4. Luke Keaschall 2B/OF, Wichita Wind Surge, AA Twins Top 30
  12. Fedde was his main claim of success. But even that and Crochet got FUBAR, ultimately.
  13. Let’s not forget taking Wilson back as well…
  14. Vargas is worse than Maldonado now right?
  15. Lesser of two evils...
  16. Would advantage the Central again to count all those games as forfeits.
  17. Matt Ginter-esque. Felix Diaz and Jon Adkins would have key roles in this bullpen.
  18. AL Central might finish with four teams over .500, largely thanks to the worst team in baseball history.
  19. Relegated to #10 draft pick really stings the most...
  20. Would be nice if Fedde could at least knock out the Cubs but he's knocking out his own team more.
  21. The pitching challenged Angels were unlikely to give up a future ace. Other than the Big 2 and Crochet...a plethora of 4/5 starters. Maybe Taylor or Keener/Keeler can break through?
  22. Skulbal's going to get 15 k's if they let him.
