Senzel (no reason why) and Julks getting some PT, mental health day for Vargas. Lee at clean-up is a LOOK, of some kind. 3. 4 teams for DLS this year? Really good for CLE in his hey-day, but I think he's a little bit like Jimmy Cordero in that he just got abused/overused somewhere along the way and never got his top line stuff back again.
  4. Cali has kind of gone to this approach, like the anti-Balta, over the last year. Kind of interesting switching perspectives and attempting to defend the organization in the face of a complete tidal wave in the opposite direction
  5. Well, the biggest thing to be exacted about is that Fletcher might be a 4th outfielder if he can hit at 675-700ish pace. Quero and Montgomery are injured or non-performing or some combination of both. Wolkow is arguably your 3rd best hitting prospect and still 2 1/2 to 3 years away on what would be considered a "fast/er" pace for a high schooler.
  6. Balta has seemingly given up on being upset and has reached acceptance phase.
  7. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/no-1-brothers-ethan-holliday-100738617.html “Ethan, 6-foot-4, 195 pounds, has a chance to be the best of all of them, if you listen to scouts and talent evaluators. He’s got the size, the strength, the competitiveness, the heart and desire to be a perennial All-Star. He’s widely considered the best eligible player in the 2025 amateur draft, and if selected first, the Hollidays would join Peyton and Eli Manning as the only brothers to each be drafted No. 1 overall in American pro sports history. “People look at the size and some of those raw abilities," Matt Holliday says. “He’s got 111-mph exit velocity with the bat, he’s got an incredible strong arm, and just some of the tangible things at a young age that he was further along than Jackson was. “They’re different in a lot of ways, but it’s not fair to Ethan or Jackson to compare. They’re just both talented baseball players who are the biggest fans of each other." If you ask Jackson, who’s 4 inches shorter than his brother, he’ll tell you Ethan will be the best player in the family. If you ask Ethan, no one will ever top his dad Matt, and he’ll be grateful to be mentioned in the same sentence as his brother.”
  8. “Just do your job, just flush it, short-term memory, come back out and do it again. Keep the faith. I was able to stay [on an] even keel and not get too down or too up.” https://www.mlb.com/news/pedro-grifol-reflects-on-start-to-2024-white-sox-season
  9. Yeah, I looked that up and then saw it was 40-120 on some other sites. .2516 would be that winning percentage. So they just need to stay under 41...
  10. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/royals/2018/03/08/kansas-city-royals-anti-pornography-seminar-players-spring-training/407295002/ Here we go again. This will go over SO very well with a bunch of young/unmarried baseball players.
  11. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-gm-candidates-five-names-to-know-as-teams-start-making-front-office-changes/ You had the two top Marlins' execs recently let go as well, one specifically in INTL SCOUTING. https://pressboxonline.com/2022/07/07/orioles-assistant-gm-eve-rosenbaum-has-high-hopes-for-women-in-baseball/ Eve Rosenbaum would be interesting, since we spent so much time the last two years discussing Kim NG. Obviously Elias is one of the best to work under as a mentor. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5096538/2023/11/30/future-mlb-managers-coaches-to-watch/ https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/future-mlb-general-managers-eight-candidates-who-could-eventually-become-your-favorite-teams-next-gm/ Interesting names mentioned include Kyle Boddy (Driveline), Sarah Gelles/Astros (Director of Research & Development) and the White Sox' own Sam Mondry-Cohen in ANALYTICS.
  12. He kind of already fits around Hollywood though, doesn't he? It's not like he screwed up the trade deadline as bad(ly) as Crochet did...
  13. We might as well replace Cole Ragans for them...
  14. Two Moncadas is twice as good as one...like Twinkies (which goes against the law of marginal utility, it should be the other way around, right?)
  15. Looking forward to this offseason's series of reggaeton videos...
  16. Just take him away from the White Sox and we'll see what actual talent he possesses. At this rate, Moncada coming back at 100% next spring after collecting $29 million in "free JR bucks" wouldn't even surprise me at all. That said, I can't imagine Yoan getting anything more than $3-5 million or more likely a contract based almost 100% on incentives.
  17. Weren't the 62 Mets 40-120-0? That would be exactly a .250 winning percentage. 41-121 would be a better record by percentage points, so it has to be 40-122 to "win" the worst record ever ignominy.
  18. Not to mention Hahn, KW, Jeremy Haber, Hostetler (unless he was taken back in by the Braves)...Barfield not off to the greatest start with Fletcher, but he's already seemingly the heir-apparent to Getz. Not sure exactly what connection Dayton Moore has at this exact moment, believe it's fairly minimal. TLR's footprint is obviously much stronger.
  19. Pretty much. That has been his specific go-to quote all season long...shot across the bow.

  21. Another career redemption arc. Hard not to root for him after all the setbacks ever since that memorable Sox debut in the rain seems like decades ago now. Biggest shame is nothing to show for Fedde and Kopech.
  22. Not many have 52 career fWAR.
  23. 1962 Mets had 6/12 regulars with .699 ops or higher. Sheets Vaughn Benintendi Robert only shots the Sox have at getting just 1-2.
  24. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NYM/1962-schedule-scores.shtml This is the stretch where Mets fell from 30-84 to 30-95. Then 31-95.
  25. https://www.mlb.com/news/dylan-cease-on-beekeeping-with-his-father Dealing again tonight. 1 hit through 5, 5 ‘s. Recently named 11 Harry Potter characters in just 15 seconds and wiped out little girl in Player vs. Fan trivia competition. Most interesting pitcher alive contestant.
