  1. All depends on what Sox think of those two pitchers yet again...Porter has durability/frame concerns, as well as 5+ walks to go with 12+ k averages per 9. SOME external scouts perceive him as better suited for closing, but that few seems to be in the minority right now. MLB Pipeline scouting report Brock Porter RHP, 20 years old Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 65 | Control: 40 | Overall: 55 Porter had a decorated high school career at St. Mary's Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.), winning three state championships in three seasons, Gatorade state player of the year honors in 2021 and 2022 and Gatorade's national award in his senior season. Though he was MLB Pipeline's top-rated pitching prospect in the 2022 Draft, the Rangers managed to float him to the 109th pick, where they used the savings from taking Kumar Rocker at No. 3 to pay Porter a fourth-round-record $3.7 million. He logged a 2.47 ERA with a .160 opponent average and 95 strikeouts in 69 1/3 Single-A innings during his 2023 pro debut, though he also walked 42. Porter's fastball and changeup ranked among the best in the 2022 prep class and lived up to their billing in his introduction to pro ball. He can operate at 94-97 mph deep into games and touch 100 with his four-seamer, which features plenty of run and carry. His low-80s changeup has excellent velocity separation from his heater and confounds hitters with its tumble and fade. After showing inconsistent feel for spinning the ball in high school, Porter has scrapped an upper-70s curveball to focus on a mid-80s slider that's becoming a solid offering. The biggest question now is whether he'll control and command his pitches well enough to pitch in the front half of a rotation. He's strong and durable but struggled last year to maintain his high-tempo delivery, and several scouts outside the organization project him as more of a late-inning reliever.
  2. Snelling/Lesko/Thorpe plus Head plus Marsee... Although they undoubtedly need Marsee for outfield insurance as Azocar and Profar aren't enough to rely upon at the moment. Going to have to find a different third piece of be satisfied with two. Maybe DeVrieze comes into this...anything is possible. https://www.justbaseball.com/mlb/dylan-cease-trade-buzz-is-picking-up-ahead-of-opening-day/ All depends on the Sox evaluation of those two arms. Duran looks like a second piece but he's really the third piece here as he's totally expendable with Carter and Langford. "The Rangers would be dealing two of their best three pitching prospects. Drafted in the fourth round out of prep school back in 2022, Porter is considered by some to be the top arm in the Rangers system after he pitched to a 2.47 ERA in 21 starts and 69 1/3 innings pitched in Low-A last year. Meanwhile, Leiter has seen his stock drop some since going No. 2 overall back in the 2021 MLB Draft, but he is still an extremely high upside arm at just 23 years old."
  3. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/kim-zolciak-kroy-biermann-pay-200043737.html https://pagesix.com/entertainment/inside-kim-zolciak-kroy-biermann-georgia-house/ Months later, US Weekly confirmed in February 2023 that the Georgia mansion was in foreclosure and would be auctioned off the following month. (Truist Bank started the foreclosure process in August 2022 after the duo defaulted on their mortgage.) https://www.law.com/dailyreportonline/public-notices/?atex-class=FDR-30102&keyword=Biermann Great investment opportunity for SE SoxTalkers!!! Kopech must have turned down getting involved in this gigantic mess.
  4. They really had an opportunity to own Venezuela during the Ozzie/F.Garcia years. They've actually been signing a lot more Venezuelans in recent years, compared to Dominicans...despite the majority of MLB clubs closing down their academies during the Hugo Chavez years. White Sox didn't even have one down there during the height of Ozzie and his family (2004-2010). Korea another barren wasteland until Fedde...who's not exactly a native there.
  5. See Benintendi when the Sox attempted to trade for him as part of Sale deal. You don't trade 21 year old World Series heroes unless you can sell REALLY REALLY high on them.
  6. Didn't realize Soroka had the exact same situation as Burger with multiple Achilles' tears...
  7. Doubt it. They learned a major lesson from the Tatis move...and doubt Sox would push for a guy they never would have ponied up the money for. Too far away from majors as well. Has to be a pitcher mixed in there...that's critical.
  8. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/iowas-caitlin-clark-draws-record-viewership-numbers-for-wnba-broadcast-partner-cbs-163931258.html Pretty incredible broadcast numbers....breaking records across seven different networks.
  9. Head would be good due to local ties.
  10. Carson Fulmer? Why not Rocker?
  11. There are still 2-3 Grifol fans remaining outside his immediate friends and family.
  12. 5-13 and still last by far RS/RA this spring. -24/-26 two worst teams after Sox. Still looking at mid -30s for that category after tonight. Okay low 30s lol. Dave some runs for tmrw!!!!!
  13. Preller is just as desperate if not moreso than Cashman. He has fired or pushed out three managers now and counting. Has the Top 5-6 MiLB system to trade from... Merrill is pretty much the only untouchable, along with Salas. Jackson off to Seoul for LAD Opening Series. Another gutsy call giving up a year of control again.
  14. Sign JD Martinez....instant contender in this division if they keep Jimenez too.
  15. Sosa and Phillips fighting for their Sox lives.
  16. Do we get any credit for Jimenez? Certainly not much. He was all over everyone in the game's radar at that point. At this point...don't imagine the success rate could be much worse if you brought back Dave Wilder. Gor example, LHP Jesus Pena was the "best" product of the system for a span of like 10-15 years on the pitching side of things.
  17. Ortega and Phillips look dead in the water. Payton on paper has had a decent spring, albeit in limited action.
  18. Nastrini and Deivi Garcia with strong numbers this spring. Would like to see Garcia replace Kopech in the rotation if they completely lose patience with Michael. (Can't even make the argument that Kopech throws harder than Garcia these days.)
  19. That was an ugly half inning against Farmer...

  21. “Fanatics is going to hell,” a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, said in reference to a particularly explicit photo of a San Diego Padres player bending over on the field. The transparency of the pants quickly became an online sensation. “Buying my wife Fanatics baseball pants instead of lingerie,” read an X post with more than 33,000 likes. “Whenever I’m nervous public speaking I just pretend people in the audience are wearing Fanatics baseball pants,” another person joked. https://www.yahoo.com/news/see-baseball-pants-fans-brands-175049564.html
  22. Wonder if Benetti will carry it over to Detroit...? He'll be all Jobe crazy after he hit 102.
  23. Yankees/Rangers/Padres...contingent of 100's comped, more than the paying customers, in fact.
  24. Poor Sosa, he's going to get squeezed out by Moustakas too as the last bench player, along with Sheets. Or Pillar/Phillips.
  25. They were pretty competent with Tatis, Jr., lol. Of course, the father basically marketed his son to the Sox, rather than the other way around. And ALMOST Soto and Guerrero, funny how they now get credit for finishing second and third for these big-name guys, like the thought process was absolutely correct but JR's checkbook not so much in agreement. Or we're going to be stuck with this "age scandal reverberations" overhanging for months and months, like the Wander Franco case itself.
