2024 MLB News not AL Central related
Garcia got a ton of value out of OF assists last year...

You can have Vaughn OR Sheets. I'll take Burger. Final season OPS. Highest number wins.

2025 Old Sock Drawer
The Marlins are still better positioned for the future than the White Sox...and that's despite having one of the five worst farm systems in baseball and only the 16th pick in the first round of this June's draft.

2025 Old Sock Drawer
And yet they can't even come up with a legitimate1B, even if you give the Sox multiple first and second round attempts at it...well, I guess Vaughn has improved his flexibility almost enough to do the splits, so that has to be worth something or other. In the end, the Marlins are going to be sold off for a new set of position players while they wait for their pitching staff to return to health. Chisholm will get them something legit back. Alcantara, Cabrera and Eury Perez are the keys to anything that franchise is going to do in the future.

2025 Old Sock Drawer
Pretty challenging to come up with many starting rotations better than this current Sox-related one: 1) Cease 2) Sale 3) Lopez 4) Rodon 5) Your choice of Lynn, Dunning, or Montas Chris Bassitt would traditionally have been up there but definitely not THIS season, at least so far.

Obliques are the very worst possible injury for a hitter. We excused Benintendi's wrist for going on how many seasons now? Not to mention Burger doesn't have nearly the number of plate appearances because he missed so much time already...numbers can change quite quickly, still.

Robbie Grossman traded to TEX for RHP Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa
Not quite as much of a concern not being a high 90s fireballer and not having that long history of MLB innings...but something to definitely consider.

5/12 Games
Berroa got torched in AAA svo. No Montgomery. Nastrini not shockingly with a high ERA.

Under what scenario would you consider offering Crochet and/or Kopech extensions?
Tough balancing act not to end up like Rodon 2021 down the stetch...pitching primarily on fumes.

Ramos getting called up
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/column-nothing-obvious-chicago-white-004300718.html It seems obvious Ramos will stick around even when Danny Mendick returns off the 10-day injured list. “It’s not obvious,” Grifol countered. OK. Never mind. “He’s got to continue to play,” Grifol said. “This is not a four out of seven (series). This is a long haul. He’s doing really well right now. We’re taking it day by day with him. We’re not going to be quick to evaluate — ‘He’s staying the whole year’ or ‘He’s going down.’ “That’s not how this process is going to work. Right now he’s doing everything he’s capable of doing to show he belongs here. He’s putting good at-bats together and playing good defense, but at the same time he’s extremely young. This is his first taste of the big leagues.”

Not sure even Leury could have messed up that first pop-up. Schiffren should be doing Shakespeare lol. He's had way too many energy drinks.

Under what scenario would you consider offering Crochet and/or Kopech extensions?
Of course all those AL Central teams would love to take Crochet off the Sox hands...at a 50% discount to boot. Everyone in baseball knows the White Sox are scared to death of taking a risk. They're never going to be out there with a pitcher like Brandon Woodruff, betting on their own player. It's always going to be Jeremy Haber's little calculator spitting out an adverse number. The White Sox can look across the landscape of baseball and watch Rodon, Lopez, Sale, Cease...yet still smile about not making an attempt to keep Gio, not keeping Anderson, not keeping Abreu. Look at us! We avoided another John Danks! They keep attempting to win the fiscal responsibility championship. Yay. Except they still are getting out-executed by the Guardians, Twins, Royals and even Tigers.

And what are the White Sox going to do if Schultz gets hurt? Push back the rebuild until 2027? 28?

Then explain Cole Ragans after two TJ surgeries…you have to get what you can out of high-risk players when there’s a window of opportunity, just like there is in the AL Central right now for the Royals. Look where KC was a year ago, even worse than the White Sox record-wise. And the same arguments against extending him are going to limit his ultimate trade return…teams that can afford to take on risk over the long term can just wait until Getz blinks. Just seems so demoralizing to keep trading away success stories with zero promise of anything in return.
