  1. That’s mostly directed at Reinsdorf, his family and the way he runs his franchises in what’s supposed to be one of the top 3-4 media markets in the entire country..
  2. Don’t forget the rake or slant of upper deck…and the wind screens to keep people from feeling they’re going to fall to their deaths, both near the very front and original back rows of seats when there was no roof/overhang. Dividing quality of services so much between the upper and lower decks, as well as ease of movement, previously…when the park would have to accommodate 30,000+. Sun fields in the late afternoon/early evening.
  3. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/11/19/walmart-and-mcdonalds-among-top-employers-of-medicaid-and-food-stamp-beneficiaries.html Wal-Mart and McDonald's are #1 and #2. Amazon, Kroger and Dollar General right up there.
  4. Angels' Stadium would definitely get some votes as well. So the 8th oldest and arguably the 4th or 5th worst, by most subjective standards.
  5. Well, this was supposed to be Year 4 of the Unprecedented Financial Flexibility Championship Window...as everyone argued 2020 was one year ahead of schedule (and that squad quite fortunate to be playing almost only AL Central teams). If we had advanced and even gotten to let's say the ALCS just once, there would be a heckuva LOT more enthusiasm than there currently is...unless JR was going to sign a pledge to spend at least $225 million on payroll in 2028-32 or something like that. Almost nobody believes additional revenues from a new stadium will be plugged back into all those areas that this team needs to compete with the elite/modernized teams of this era. Going the stadium route now just seems like desperation at this point...and distraction away from the product on the field. Heck, we can't even compete with four of the poorest, smallest market teams in baseball as it is, let alone the AL East or NL West.
  6. Lauren Sanchez isn't going to "like" this post, lol...
  7. It's like he is running for Mayor of Bridgeport. Probably Tray is along for the ride as the Vice Mayor with how adamant he's been.
  8. Isn't Wal-Mart arguably worse in terms of forced government subsidies due to their salary and benefits (or lack thereof) structure...along with their aversion to building stores in "inner city/urban" areas of major cities?
  9. We will see...Rosario or even Anderson being flipped at the deadline for $1.5-2.0 million both sounded like better bets for getting a positive ROI. The defense better be worth it, making Cease's value appreciate over a half season.
  10. You can even be generous and extend to 2012 thanks to 2008/10/12.
  11. Nobody hates Sox fans more than Jerry Reinsdorf. Sox fans shouldn’t be objective about the allocation of public dollars because of their sports loyalties, or only make exceptions for favorite teams? If it was such a slam dunk development brimming with off the charts potential, why wouldn’t he feel confident enough to risk, let’s say $500 million of his own money, like Ricketts did (and more)? The only answer is that billionaires have been getting away with this since the 1980’s, so why should he hold himself to a higher standard when he’s not doing something illegal, merely taking advantage of the opportunities only the investment class has access to?
  12. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/may-run-time-phoenix-diamondbacks-224938337.html Now the DBacks are asking for hundreds of millions to renovate Chase Field or threatening to leave…at least they had a competitive team last season.
  13. “Going with Yoan OVER. Contract year and all that.” Leverage for WHAT exactly?
  14. You really think JR is going to pay $25 million for Moncada when Ramos is roughly one year away or less? That would be 1/5th the entire payroll, roughly. Coming off a win total in the 60’s or low 70’s and abysmal attendance numbers?
  15. If he plays like 2022…one of the biggest bargains of the off-season.
  16. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/chiefs-super-bowl-rally-shooting-010841959.html
  17. Sure, but Tennessee just forked over $1.3 billion and the NFL is always going to be the biggest game in town...even in SEC and NASCAR territory. Of course the Bears aren't really able to leave Chicago...how much is having two MLB franchises worth it to the City of Chicago? Does it really hurt the Bay Area to lose the A's, for example?
  18. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/white-sox-release-statement-owner-215233971.html Still trying to figure out why they would choose Sox over Bears “We recognize discussions about The 78 serving as the future home of the Chicago White Sox have generated a lot of excitement over the potential of the larger project’s positive economic impact. We are mindful and respectful of the legislative process and wanted to travel to Springfield to meet personally with legislative leaders. We’re excited to share our vision, and we appreciate their time and hospitality.” Another statement followed from a Related Midwest Spokesperson. “We appreciated the time afforded to us by lawmakers in Springfield today. As we shared in the meetings, The 78 is a generational development and an investment in our hometown. It’s personal to us and we are excited about the prospect of delivering the city’s next great neighborhood, while making an historic economic investment that will bring over 10,000 construction jobs and 22,000 permanent jobs to our city and state. The long-term impact will be transformative – creating a new riverfront neighborhood anchored by a state-of-the-art ballpark for generations of fans to enjoy and help enhance Chicago’s place as a top destination.” According to a recent, extensive report from Crain's Chicago Business, Reinsdorf is reportedly confident in his chances of winning over the state's approval for his complex financial plan to fulfill the goal of building an entirely new Sox stadium, in collaboration with real estate firm Related Midwest, along the Chicago River. "The two [Reinsdorf and Related Midwest President Curt Bailey] are bullish they can win state support by arguing the stadium subsidies will bring along billions more in private investment, and the deal is structured in a way to not require new or increased taxes," the report states.
  19. Sources tell Yahoo Sports that the Giants, Angels and Marlins are the finalists for the three-time All-Star, and a decision could be made in the next week. Miami also checked on Anderson’s availability at last summer’s trade deadline. While the Giants and Angels could offer Anderson an opportunity to play every day, the Marlins, who made the postseason last year, are the only team of the three with a legitimate chance to make a push for a playoff spot. After Anderson was part of winning seasons in just two of his seven years in Chicago, playing for a contender could be a factor in his decision. Yankees also still talking Cease if Snell deal falls through. https://sports.yahoo.com/the-5-best-non-shohei-ohtani-moves-of-the-mlb-offseason--and-4-that-should-happen-before-opening-day-160528867.html
  20. When have they been winning since 2008? 1 1/2 out of 15 years and more than likely out of 19 or 20.
  21. It was the whole deliberately playing at 75-85% effort that caused the problems. Same debate as that not going all-out in the NBA All-Star games and playing conservatively or hesitantly might even lead to more injuries…although that would be incredibly difficulty to quantify.
  22. Can’t think of any reason the Sox would possibly want a massive distraction this year…
  23. Nicky López already being undermined…
  24. Close proximity for anti-porn meetings of the FCA.
