  1. What's the MLB record for homers in a season by a 5'7" or 5'8" outfielder? Obviously you have Altuve and Pedroia on the infield... https://www.mlb.com/news/shortest-players-to-lead-league-in-home-runs-c289485242 While they're not quite Jose Altuve (5-foot-6) or Ozzie Albies (5-foot-8), the 5-foot-9 Jose Ramirez (33 homers) and 5-foot-10 Khris Davis (32) have made outsized contributions to highlight reels all season long, powering past the big guys in twin bids to become, as it turns out, one of the shortest players in MLB history to lead his league in homers.
  2. Where would the Rays be if you took out the Wander Franco extension that will probably get wiped out?
  3. https://northsidebound.com/2024/02/05/breaking-keith-laws-top-100-filled-with-head-shaking-choices-that-leave-you-asking-wheres-owen-caissie-among-others/
  4. Except for ranking some of their guys as Top 3-5 MiLB prospects…except everyone in the industry has done that with Salas.
  5. James Fegan. Finally something interesting to talk about with a potential Cease trade on the backburner. Then there’s the stadium project at least.
  6. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/padres/story/2024-02-05/four-padres-ranked-among-the-athletics-top-100-prospects Interestingly, Law gave the Padres just 4 Top 100 but the other ranking services give them 5-6 and #4 and #6 system placements. Sox with 5, but Montgomery pushed way down compared to Salas/Merrill and sporting #18/#20 system rankings so far.
  7. Were there team rankings as well?
  8. This hasn’t already happened? Who would be the second oldest starting catcher in the majors receiving at least 90-100+ starts?
  9. That was the biggest pre-arb deal in history at the time…right around where the Betts extension with the Dodgers was at…at least in terms of guaranteed contract dollars.
  10. If we had traded for Alek Thomas, the excitement level would have been much higher. The DBacks obviously liked him, but not enough to consider him an important part of their future and a franchise building block with their current depth chart.
  11. Back to that phrase “nationally renowned” which goes along with demand and ratings/views. Benetti was one of the few anything “national” about the Sox since the return of TLR which was not negative or embarrassing. Well, I guess he was too embarrassing for elites, aka the likes of JR Hahn and Boyer. Say whatever you want about the weaknesses of Bill Veeck and his under-resourced teams, but he always identified with the common fan more than the C-Suite types and always would fight on the side of those who loved the White Sox more than money or profit…like Benetti when he first debuted with all the idealism, wonder and awe of a newly-recalled rookie later round draft pick. Appreciate Sox Machine for having the vision and foresight to invest (the new stadium project has sucked many back in it seems) during one of those really dark times in team history. And Josh Nelson needs to update his approach to be less like the written version of grumpy Hawk Harrelson. Don’t be a homer all the time, but also be fair when the front office has done something well. Obviously a much higher standard than mere everyday message board commentary from the cheap seats. Challenge/scope of task in front of them is certainly a daunting one.
  12. The activity got started Monday morning, when the Dodgers put some final touches on their bullpen. First, the club finalized a trade that sent left-hander Caleb Ferguson to the Yankees for left-hander Matt Gage and righty pitching prospect Christian Zazueta Jr. With Ferguson off to New York, the Dodgers had an open bullpen spot, which they quickly filled by agreeing to terms with veteran right-hander Ryan Brasier on a two-year, $9 million deal, sources told MLB.com. Incentives could push the total value of Brasier’s contract to $13 million. The club has not confirmed Brasier’s deal. https://www.mlb.com/news/ryan-brasier-dodgers-contract
  13. “The White Sox have reportedly signed Cuban right-handed pitcher Yosimar Cousín to a two-year, $2 million MLB contract, pending physical. Source: Cuban RHP Yosimar Cousin (25) and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a two-year MLB deal, 2 million contract, pending physical. Cousin left Cuba in January 2022.” Let’s not forget this little tidbit. Lambert feels a player that could be gone entirely or the first closer candidate attempted before Leasure or Berroa (assuming they don’t start him at Charlotte).
  14. Mazara had a 786 ops in 2019 with the Rangers. 800+ seems like a dream right now.
  15. Royals FA contract: Alex Gordon, OF (4/$72M, 2016) Extension: Salvador Perez (4/$82M, 2021) FA contract: Andrew Benintendi, OF (5/$75M, 2022) Extension: Yoán Moncada, 3B (5/$70M, 2020 Athletics FA contract: Billy Butler, 1B/DH (3/$30M, 2015) Extension: Eric Chavez, 3B (6/$66M, 2004 Pirates FA contract: Francisco Liriano, LHP (3/$39M, 2015) Extension: Bryan Reynolds, OF (8/$106.75M, 2023) Also gave KeBryan Hayes a significant extension. Interestingly, Cubs have Carlos Zambrano at $91.5 million still as their biggest internal extension. https://www.mlb.com/news/every-team-s-largest-contracts
  16. Embarrassing for the Sox Twins Guardians. It's like the Correa deal going sideways has now frozen their vision for the future. Greg775 will flip out about a rising in parking and concession prices in KC. Fits the positive vibes there with all the new stadium talk. Let's not forget they lost 106 games last year...but are still acting like a team planning to contend this season.
  17. Like the Micker Adolfo hand wringing...as if the next Yordan Alvarez had gotten away.
  18. How long will that realistically last? He will never be able to go on back to back days in 2024, so might as well go to a bullpen by VOMmittee approach ...
  19. Second playoff run has a lot of value. One year you end up with Burnes offers, especially with Boras as agent unwilling to look at extension possibilities.
  20. And you think the feeling of everyone who was around in 2002 was complimentary to the Sox? They must have felt a sense of revenge in how that season played out for Wells, Frank Thomas and their season long battle just to get back to .500 after a 14-29 start?
  21. Thus the onset of the Keith Law Grudge against KW and all things White Sox.
