Signing Murakami best Sox decision in ages. Very good investment.
Quite a few. CLE has it down....despite their #3/4 overall record the past 12-15 years. Minnesota surely. OAK and Colorado moving forward. Miami is at least competitive again...might dump Alcantara regardless..

Can we legally 86 someone at SoxTalk lol? Or First Amendment provisions don't apply to private websites? Just kidding. Have to balance out Ron to be equitable.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance Still 29th in overall attendance for all games. Can't all be blamed on weak Central attendance outside Detroit. That per game average at home has to slide back up to 20000+ per game (1.6+ million pace) to consider it an appreciable Murakami-driven jump (along with .500ish baseball).

Is it time to bring up Hagen Smith?
Cannon again just sounds hopeless. Mason Adams at least a month or six weeks away, maybe?

White Sox signing Randal Grichuk to major league deal
White Sox wanted nothing to do with playing Moncada while the final year of his contract expired with a $29 million pricetag including the buyout. JR somehow thought that was punishing him. Angels still gave him a shot. Twice now. Might be why they're the worst team in baseball right now.

Japan is definitely not meaningless for the Dodgers and Ohtani/Yamamoto. TV/ad revenues are one driver of the revenue equation...as well as jersey hat souvenir sales. Then you have corporate sponsorships like UNIQLO Field at Dodgers Stadium.

At what point do we start to believe?
Chicago White Sox: B+The big headline has been Munetaka Murakami, who is a threat to break the single-season record for strikeouts -- which scared off many teams, despite his big power numbers in Japan -- but nonetheless is hitting .231/.374/.564 with an MLB-leading 13 home runs. He's as pure a three-true-outcomes guy as we'll ever see: He hasn't even hit a double yet. But Murakami isn't the only story here. Top pitching prospect Noah Schultz has debuted and displayed strikeout stuff. Colson Montgomery is swatting home runs. Sam Antonacci looks like a fun player and Miguel Vargas has more walks than strikeouts. The White Sox probably don't have the pitching or lineup depth to hang here all season, but they'll avoid 100 losses -- and maybe even make a run at .500. dave schoenfeld espn.com

White Sox signing Randal Grichuk to major league deal
https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=979848003877755&id=554465839749309 2021 was the Robert hip flexor strain year...or was that the adductor? Hard to keep track. Since Aug. 25, 2022, Robert was 1-for-28 with nine strikeouts and he was often seen swinging one-handed due to the discomfort. Robert said the hit-by-pitch didn’t really affect him adversely, but admitted bad habits were developing as he tried to swing through the pain. “That kind of backfired on what I was trying to do. Again, I think that was my mistake. It’s something I learned from,” Robert said. “I’m very confident, as soon as that discomfort goes away, I’m going to be able to swing the bat the way that I do without the bad habits. The thing that developed the bad habits was in my mind. “I think it was the best decision that we could make, especially after you saw how I tried to help the team during those games,” Robert told reporters on Wednesday through interpreter Billy Russo. “I tried and the team realized that even with my best effort, it wasn’t enough to help them in a good way. ...... “Yes, I asked them to let me try to play, but I also think it was my mistake because I didn’t realize at that moment that trying to do that, I wasn’t helping them. I wanted to play because the team was in a very good position. We were making a push to make the playoffs and I wanted to be part of that and help the team. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do it. Already had the left hand injury, which was exacerbated by a Logan Gilbert hbp https://www.mlb.com/news/luis-robert-left-hand-injury-white-sox-2022-season

White Sox signing Randal Grichuk to major league deal
He hadn't had his breakthrough 2023 season yet...at that point. Just his RoY chase in 2020 that faded to second behind the unforgettable injury-prone Kyle Lewis.

White Sox signing Randal Grichuk to major league deal
Charlie Montoyo was so threatened by Robert (who didn't even know who he was, namely the bench coach) that they had to put his name in the lineup...despite his reputation for not wanting to play when dinged up? That would make sense in alternative Lemming World 2024. Well, this one was actually on LaRussa, KW and Hahn moreso than Getz. Who was the head athletic trainer that end of 2022 year who was so scared/frightened/intimidated by mild-mannered Luis they simply couldn't resist?

Leave him down in AAA until there's an actual legit playing time opportunity. They're not going to bench Antonacci or Meidroth when things are going so well. Benintendi's 29/30 DH ranking is not going to be replaced, either...unless he can also do a TA and catch as well?

Another premature player promotion blown up by the media in advance??? That's already twice this year in less than six weeks.

Anyone who watched Robert closely during those days was in complete disbelief he was allowed to go up there and try to hit. Everyone saw it with their own eyes. It was painful to watch for anyone who has played at higher levels...judt imagining trying to compete against elite big league stuff like that. Another spectacle.- White Sox signing Randal Grichuk to major league deal
