Peavy could be sidelined as long as 12 weeks
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 02:45 PM) It's all academic really though. With Peavy this team still sucks. And in the AL, he becomes a solid pitcher, but not an ACE like in the NL. CORRECT.

Dayan's Career Offense
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) You need to see him hit. He loves to hit it to the opposite field, much more often than pulling the ball. He has the ability to be a major RBI producer. Since you've had the opportunity to see him more than anyone else on here, what would be your best guess at what kind of hitter he'll turn into?

Dayan's Career Offense
Although I hope I'm wrong, I don't see Viciedo being more than a combination of Uribe and Beltre.

We haven't signed anyone yet, right? What are the best url resources to get updates on signings?

5 players and pitchers
I'm seeing waaaay too many national league players on those lists guys. We all know they can't compete in a real game (in the AL)

I never really knew he got that big of a bonus that late in the draft. Interesting. I hope he turns into a real good prospect for us.

Matt Holliday
That really depends on a lot of things. For example, will CQ's return continually be pushed back until the idea of him coming back this season vanishes? If so, along with the Sox having a record that could be in contention, yes I could see them going for him. One thing Kenny seems to show is that he wants this team to be a competitive team no matter what. Unfortunately given the way the last few weeks have been, it is more unlikely that we will trade for him because there's no point in sacrificing your future for an expensive player when that player cannot get you to the playoffs at that point in the season. Always possible, but not likely.

Disappointment of the year
For me its gotta be Shelby. I felt like he was really gonna shine on that BHam roster, but instead he has played real poorly.

Colon to DL
I heard he was going to the DL for starvation. He hasn't eaten since breakfast.

AAP: Tyler Flowers
In terms of his offense growth, wouldn't that worry you guys to have him getting only part time at bats?

Fire Sale Prediction Thread
Kenny Williams will consider this to be a contending team, even if we're 30 games back in late September. I have a hard time believing that he would do it.

Happy Birthday CaliSoxFan & Markbilliards!
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:53 AM) Happy birthday fellas. I say the 2 of you get together for a game of billiards in California. It is my birthday today! I'd say a nice present would be Gordon Beckham's first major league hit and a start to the draft for the Sox that won't piss everyone off.

It was 20 years ago today...
20 years ago I wanted to marry my Mommy. Little did I know we would eventually move to Texas and 20 years later I would marry my sister instead.

The "Ace" the Sox can get
Given how good of a batter he is, I would imagine that 1) He would want to stay in the NL 2) The Cubs would consider him even more valuable than just his pitching ability because of his ability to hit too I don't want this clown on my team regardless. I think a lot of Sox fans agree.

What number will Slayer wear?
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 04:32 PM) Since chances are the Beckham era will probably start in the next week or so, what number do you think he will wear? I think the Sox will give him #6, the number he wore in college (and you gotta give a pimp a cool, low number like that). Oddly enough, no White Sox has worn this number since the passing of former hitting coach Charley Lau in 1984. What are you guys guessing? Perhaps he's hinting that Slayer will take a note from Swisher and pitch for an inning or two at Charlotte

AAP: Tyler Flowers
That's good to hear. Coming into the organization it had sounded like he was pretty awful, yet didn't have a lot of professional catching experience.
