why do you think gibson is an ass??? i plan on seeing it...ive been staying away from the hype as much as possible so i can decide for myself (as much as that is possible i guess) about its accurace and relevance trying not to have any preconcived notions
-
i didnt think he had an off year even by his standards... 606ab 95r 192h 46d 3t 29hr 99rbi .317ba .926ops other than his rbi's being down a little his other numbers are at his career average or better ..his 192 hits were a career high

id be alot more zen - like myself if we could just win once
-
i know matt..i was just joking around adding that one.. a couple years ago attack of the killer tomatoes was voted the worst movie ever made...thats why i added it my list but my pick fopr the worst ever is "message in a bottle"...after 3 hours of that i had a noose around my neck out in the backyard looking for a sturdy branch...if i ever seen kevin costner in person im gonna kick his ass
-
ummm, ill have to pass on that one...go ahead and keep you posts as long as you want

whitesox61382...sorry about missing your ackknolwedgement of the flaws in that example.. i was talking to some dodger fans and they said that perez pitched injured most of last year...which was the reason why his IP were way down...that opens up another can of worms...if he's healthy then there is even more reason to believe he will return to his '03 form...but there is a risk that pitching injured could have taken its tool on his arm and he may never reach his potential now.. of course the same can be said about PK and the problems with his hip..which i think played a major factor in his decline last year... looks like a crapshoot either way on this deal...and with recent sox history the pessimist in me says that whatever KW does, if in fact this trade is workable , will be the wrong move

if frank had reversed his career..started off slow and then that 7 year stretch was towards the end of his career he would for sure be a first ballot hall of famer...look at soso..he stunk the first half of his career but has a dfew career years(about3) at the right time and he probably goes in first ballot..its all about what have you done for me lately... i just had a sick thought...what happens if thomas and soso go in the hall the same year??...that would suck

no need to pardon your rant...it represents what about 80% of us feel...you ought to clean it up a little and send it to all the chicago papers...it might make the reader opinion section... how bad as it gotten for the sox , marriotti is now coming off as a sympathetic figure...pr is a freakin nightmare for this team...if this group starts out slow like last year's team i dont know if they could draw a million fans i really think reinsdorf and his cronies are so insulated from the real world they dont even see the inevitable trainwreck coming...this could be one very ugly season...the presure for this team thats assmbled now to win is gonna be unbelievable
-
id like to see the sox groom wright for the closer role...i see alot of similiarities in wright to gagne...i wouldnt give up on wright just yet either

come matt..."attack of the killer tomatoes" had the best one liner in movie history when the undercover agent was disguised as a tomato in their camp and then gave himself away at dinner by saying "somebody pass the ketchup "

steely dan - pretzel logic (aja would be a good choice too) supertramp - crime of the century the police - outlandis d'amour (ghost in the machine rocks too) van halen - van halen1 pink floyd - dark side of the moon

you have one flaw in your arguement...youre only comparing them against the "47 pitchers that qualified"...those were the best 47 starting pitchers in the NL give or take a few......47 comes out to the top 3 starters per team...in that case...yes his numbers are average ( im guessing they are the top 3 starters because they all logging more innings than pitchers 48 -80) there are 16 teams in the NL..5 man starting rotation equals 80 starting pitching spots...expand that "qualified" to include 80 pitchers and you will get a better represention of where perez's numbers fall in relation to the whole league...and they should rank higher than average

i averaged his numbers over the past 2 years and 6.85 or round it up to 7 k's per 9 innings pitched is not good for a starter???..thats excellent...how can you say thats just average???...mark buehrle's k/9 ip = 4.66 , bartolo colon's = 6.43 1.28 whip is above average for a starting pitcher...mark buehrle's whip last year was 1.35 ..colon's whip last year was 1.19...perez fals right in the middle between buehrle and colon... BBA..dont have the numbers but just looking at hits per ip perez would be better than buehrle but not as good as colon this kid is a quality pitcher...its rumors about his attitude that bothers me...but he is a proven number 3 starter thats left handed and young....konerko is a proven power hitting 1st baseman..both coming off bad years after all star years the previous season.. straight up..you have to make this deal because its so much harder to find a lefty starter than it is a power hitting 1st baseman...

you are mixing up buck weaver and shoeless joe i believe... buck weaver was the one who happened to walk in on the players fixing the series with the gamblers...he refused to be a part of it..never took a dime and played his ass off in the series.. shoeless joe took 5k from gamblers , signed a confession admitting to throwing the series....the confession was lost during his criminal trial but somehow founds its way into a 1923 civil suit between jackson and sox owner charlie comiskey...also sometime around 1923 there was a story in one of the new york papers about shoeless joe throwing the series...he said that the guys didnt think they could make it look believable by trying to purposely makes outs at the plate and decided to throw the series in the field...joe talked about taking a bad angle on a catchable fly ball to make it look like he just missed it...making throws into the infield off line to let runners advance..stuff like that... there is no doubt in my mind that shoeless joe knew what he was doing and was a willing participant..at that point in his career he was a veteran ballplayer...he knew what was going on...and while he was ignorant as far as education he wasnt a stupid man...after his playing days in outlaw leagues he retired back in his hometown in SC and was a successful businessman... buck weaver's name should be cleared...while he was one fo the best of his era i could never get behind reinstating the guy...too much evidence says he was guilty

i think kobe probably did it..or at least something not kosher...but i can also understand whats in play here...the defense attorney's job is to get his client off with in the rule of law..and if this law can help their client get off then they have an ethical (lawyers and ethics - talk about an oxymoron ) responsiblity to use it to their fullest advantage.. as for kobe going along with it meaning he is guilty..no..in any court case you do what your lawyer says...anytime you open your mouth w/o your lawyer ok'ing what you are going to say you are making his job 10 times harder... like i said i'm not on kobe's side here..my gut says he is guilty but all he is doing is following his lawyer's advice...cant blame him for that

the more dumps the merrier ive always said my bmi came out at 29.0 im 5'6' and 180..my ideal weight when i played ball was 166..my bmi at that weight is 26.8...thats pushing obese...when i was 166 i hardly had an ounce of fat on me...of course ive lost quite a bit of muscle due to my neck surgery and not being able to work out so my fat % now is closer to that BMI thingy than it was 15 years ago this doesnt take into account age either..as you age you are allowed a little bit more body fat...
