i cant say thats a bad choice..ive said for a while that i think tony is geared up for a career year...he could this team's savior when its all over...
-
the key is can we score 8 runs tomorrow...or do we go back to 1 or 2???...then can we wina single game in seattle...we get moyer and always hit him pretty well so we should win one 3-3 on this road trip would be great for this bunch
-
which guy do you think will spark the team most as our 2nd baseman and lead off man
-
ditto
-
when you jerk the line up around and it works....you ride it out..you stick jimenez on the bench and go with the exact same line up tomorrow...if the line up scores 8 runs toimorrow then you t ake it into seattle.. graffy got on base 6 out of 6 times...leave the line up as it is
-
guess it depends how important this season is...everett has like 12 homers..thats twice as many as our leader...he could fit in the middle of our line up nicely and send willie harris back to charlotte where he belongs.. here's another way to look at it...if everett could be the difference in winning the division then making this trade would make sense because it would mean we bring back bartolo...if we dont make the trade amd lose the division then we keep garland but bartolo goes elsewhere... so the question is...does everett put us over the top???...id have to think about it cause im not really sure... but i wouldnt write this trade off immediately if it come to pass
-
what does that say about our history
-
i like the idea of shaking the line up up...but the guy that should bat 2nd all season after watching the first plus month is maggs...he has the speed to be a good number two hitter and since everytime someone is on first he hits a grounder it would great to jhave the lead off man on ahead of him and hit and run...get the middle infielders moving and maggs hits it right throught the vacated hole...has to work better than thomas.. maggs is an ideal number 2 hitter in the same mode as darrin erastad...

we do, we have one thats better...his name is dmaso marte..now if jerry would only give him the job
-
was the chat down last night??...i couldnt get in

everyone is wearing black now...thats al lyou see...since we have a history of changing color i think its time for a change...maybe we could snap out of this slump.. lol ...i always wanted us in forrest green..its a color we havent tried yet

sean hated KW with a passion..that i know for a fact..

the giants wont miss a beat with worrell closing..he's been lights outs 9-10 in saves and a era of 2

i can understand it CW and to a point i agree..my biggest fear is this team will play just well enough to not win anything but not bad enough to force any real changes...and so the '04 season will just be another extension of '01 ,'02 '03.... at this point i dont care whether they turn it around or not...i dont like this team..i dont like a lot of the players on it...it lacks heart and intensity...and today our manager just gave the team another excuse when he said what are they supposed to do..come back to the dugout going yippee i struck out...what an idiot..he's making excuse for lackluster performances... im tired of this group..we have a bunch of right handed power hitting dh/corner outfielders /1b types that obviously only care about themselves...after all this we still are grounding out to 3rd base at a record pace....we need to purge this team....and with the pitching staff as young as it is we could rebuild quickly..we need left handed power , alot of speed and some guys that can throw leather.. WE NEED BALANCE...other GM's have built those kinds of teams..it can be done... jimenez, lee, konerko , maggs , even my favorite st.josE6 , even thomas...all of them could be traded right now for all i care...last night was the final straw for me..what i saw out there made me sick...it should not be tolerated..but not only is it tolerated the manager is in the press making excuses..i wonder how JR will feel when during the next home stand he cant get 7k people in the park...maybe then he will wake up and do something... crede and olivo i keep...the other everyday players would be fair game... like you said we could dig out of this hole...but so what...this team is not fundementally sound and will not win anything accept maybe the weakest division in baseball..barely , just to be swept...

ok so who are you from the mlb boards and when can i get that beer??????lol.. The next home game that KW is not the general manager. I will tell you that I am not the guy from Kansas City and I love the former second baseman that was traded for Tony Bernazard. its juicer???

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that...

no it wasnt hindsight because there was a bunc h of set up men out there as free agents besides gordon...reed and remlinger are two right off the top of my head....besides.. williams has made three trades like this...trading guys in the same position for similiar play ers...siro -wells , well fogg lowe - ritchie after those two disasters he didnt learn and made the foulke - koch trade... -
a major leaguers needs to be able to catch pop ups too..thats something that jimeenz hasnt shown us....a major leaguer needs to be able to fielda ground ball and not lollipop the throw to the first baseman so a guy as old and slow as bj surhoff gets an infield hit on a play that he should have been out on by 5 steps...a major leaguer also need to get up off his ass and get into cut off position after he dives for a ground ball and misses it so the outfielder has someone to throw through , not lay on the ground and sulk like a baby...a major leaguer needs to "come ready to play" everyday... ill take miles lack of walks over all of this garbage from jimenez...with miles attitude..ill bet he would leearn to walk more if asked too..will jimeenez ever learn to play the game the right way if asked??..id say no...this is his 3rd team now and he just doesnt get it

cw..anything can be made politcal if it gets your name in the news..you know that....remember when green bay fired (was it ray rhodes??) after only one season...politcins jumped on that..didnt jackson have a march and a rally in green bay.??. but you make a very good point..tieing your bandwagon to KW is probably suicide and god bless orielly!!

the closer role is so overrated...the best closer on this team is also the most quiet...damaso marte....even if koch was throwing 100 mph marte is still a better choice... i really like foulked and would have loved it if he could have stayed here...i actually liked him most in his 99 role where he pitched like 120 innings a 2 -3 inning set up man..with marte as a closer foulke could have returned to that role...foulke was a team player...if we had a GM that worked to make this a real team that could have happened as long as foulke was compenstaed fairly... but if he had to be traded i could understand...but not for another closer unless we are talking on the order of billy wagner...we should have packaged up foulke and lee for some speed or left handed power...handed the closer role over to marte or gordon...we'd be much better off...this isnt hindsight either..i said this when the trade was made... paying a closer big bucks is probably the biggest waste of money in baseball....you want a closer...find a starter that has two good pitches and starts off games great but runs into troble in the middle innings (gagne) ..there is your closer...if need be..danny wright would make an excellent closer... you pay the big bucks for only the very best..like hoffman who closes games out at an 89% clip...koch closes them out at about 84%...might not sound like a big difference but that 5% is huge...100 pitchers in baseball can close out games at an 84% success rate... -
true..riensdorf's rep in race relations is about as solid as there is..

i wouldnt worry about jesse jackson..he's pretty much become a non player ever since his total embarrassment about his affair with his secretary and his paying her off in hundereds of thousands of dollars in operation push money...thanks to billy o'reilly his rally barely get a few hundred people now when they used to get well into the thousands..tv doesnt even cover him anymore...he became a huge embarrassment when he was counciling the president on his affair ...jesse's time as a leader has paased, thank god... a guy that could make trouble and is looking for a way to get more national exposure since he is running for president is al sharpton...maybe carol mosely braun too...but like someone else said, if KW gets behind a movement like this he just ensured he will never get another job in baseball....even KW isnt that stupid...
-
i stand by what i posted day one of this season...whether miles is the answer or not doesnt matter,...he won the job out of ST..he outplayed jimenez..and this wasnt a situatio nwhere jimenez was a veteran incumbent..that position should have went to the player who showed the most in ST and that was miles...

rumors now are KW didnt make the oakland trip...this is getting goood.. i know this..eddie einhorn and danny evans are lkinda close...wonder whats in the works??? My guess is nothing. I joked with Danny tonight asking him if coming back was a reunion or if he was coming back to the Sox. He laughed and referred to LA as the place he wants to be now. I'd certainly welcome it. But I don't think teams take another team's GM during the season. Would that be unprecedented? i wasnt thinking about for this season...i figure hemod or someone gets the job on an interim basis...depending on how he is doing in la-la land maybe he will be free this off season???...at least that was my thinking..but if he says LA is the place for him then he is probably banking on staying there for awhile...all in all...i think he has done a real god job out there
