randy winn's numbers were respectable..he was htting about 310 at the break..had some homers and rbi's..stole bases and played a respectable CF.. now whoever is represented by the tigers is gonna be so far removed from being an all star it would be in their best interest not to even show up

mike veeck have a great promotion idea last year the sox could capitalize on....zero attendance night...for the first 5 innings of the game no one was allowed int he park..so the game was played in front of no fans...they had tailgating and live music outside the park..then in the 6th inning they opened the gates and let everyone in for free.. thats kind of a cool promotion imo

unfortunately i dont see maggs getting voted in over ichiro..with the japanese now having two players to vote for..you could very well see matsui and ichiro in the starting outfield... so far it looks like the sox will get one rep...with jeter not in the running and tejada playing horrible so far..if jose can pick his play up a little bit he could end up being our rep...nomar's numbers are down this year too i believe..but the smart money should be on maggs nomar aint exactly tearing it up either..6-16 285 and EIGHT errors...this could end up being val's year if he wants it bad enough

Mike Lum is an ex-catcher, isn't he? In general, I think ex-catchers make the best coach/managerial candidates. They always were involved in every aspect of the game, and had the game right in front of them the whole time they played. I think Joe Girardi would make a great manager some day. if its the mike lum im thinking of who spent time in the late 60's early 70's with the braves then he was a 1b-of...he was a lefty so he couldnt have been a catcher...did have a 15 year big league career

i remember that too...billy was bringing about 93-95 that night..marte 95 -97...you could tell marte had a lot more life on his fastball too...marte is the best kept secret in baseball...if he got on the right team and was just left to close games out it wouldnt surprise me to see billy wagner type numbers...hopefully with big brother being removed from manuel's shoulder he will let marte close...i felt for awhile now that marte has always been manuel's guy anyways
