Anyone who throws that hard, especially with his past record (it's not great, but still it's a lot of saves), has value. Yes, but it is fair to say that he has much less value after the way he has pitched the past month than if he had been more effective. If you were an opposing GM, would you pay top dollar in prospects for a demoted closer with an ERA over 7.00? Nope, you'd "take him off the Sox hands" and do them a favor by giving them a decent, not great prospect. i would take an "A" level prospect for koch right now if somebody would take him and his contract...and id throw in KW for free

I may be confused onw hich play everyone is talking about - the play in the 4th, batting Olerud, and Boone on 1st? I thought people were complaining about the call in the 2nd - we were so out of the game at that point - the call before that was the gift K of Cameron so they didn't all go against us last night - in the 8th(?) jimenez ended up being called safe at 1st on an infield hit where he was clearly out...again another play that wasnt even that close...maybe its not the laz diaz thing...but the umpiring has been bad this year...ive seen bad calls before...but these are ones that are so obvious and happening so frequently....these are not bang-bang plays the umps are missing

if you did a number analysis..especially down the stretch last year..and looked at the fact that koch had an over 20 innings increase from his privious high plus he led the majors in number of pitches thrown per IP...there were warning signs...the comcast cable maginzine sports writer who covered the sox in their april issue said his biggest concern was the health of billy koch after his work load last season...even the cable guy was worried
