matt anderson???
-
should have been kelly wunsch..thats his job..get the tough lefty out
-
notice all the ground balls stewart is throwing
-
right now..im watching a carbon copy of tom glavine on the mound for the chisox... he throws exactly like glavine..tailing fastball , works the outside corner...takes a little off here..throws a little harder there..decent curve and a good change up
-
if olivo gets the bunt down the pitch sequence is probably different and d'angelo doesnt get the homer..so it worked out i guess
-
kc is gonna run away with the division
-
hmm and after the Carlos beaning in the knee yesterday... No love loss between these two teams, but as flat as the Tigers have been, why chance waking them up? i agree..we got 18 or so more games to get even with the dickhead
-
id much rather live with olivo's growing pains instead of wtaching sandy...miguel defens eis so good he can make up for his lack of hitting..if he plays regularly his might come around as the season progresses olivo just bunts into a DP as rowand falls asleep on the bases
-
where was jimenez on higgensons slow roller throught the infield??...thats another slow hit ball through the hole between paulie and d'angelo...thats all we saw in the KC series...what's gonna happen in minnesota with those two stewart looks sharp..would love to see him move up and replace garland as the number 3 pitcher..but we gotta remember this is detroit...its like playing a high level A team
-
tried to spike jose at 2nd base..im all for hard play and breaking up a double play but you could plainly see he went in with the idea of spiking valetin just above the ankle and not breaking the play up..this is the same SOB that started the fight in '00...he is a serious headcase...
-
jose with a double when jose is focused is there a better swing in baseball???..i love hown he loads up on his leftside and then ..WHAM, !!!
-
i disagree on head first slides into first..if you do it right its the fastest way int o the base...the key to slide late so you slide throught the bag...slide just to the foul side of the bag ,tap it with your outstretched hand then just slide right by the side of it...its very safe because you wont get you shoulder hooked up on the bag or the feet of the first baseman.. the very worst injuries ive seen are guys running to first base on a close play and lunging for the bag...jason kendall , ruben mateo come to mind..the teach players to run throught the bag but that takes perfect timing and when its a bang -bang play a player isnt gonna try and time it...if he is a little short of the bag he will lunge...thats when it becomes dangerous on jeter...if you look at the replay of how the catcher came in to cover 3rd base had jeter gone feet first im pretty sure he ends up with a broken leg...the catcher was full spped in his gear and fell right on top of jeter with his shin gaurd with the full weight of his body..that was just a freak play... remember ventura..he slid head first into home and broke his leg...you can get a serious injury on play there is contact... i played baseball/softball until i was forty..i slide headfirst into everybase..would dive after everything..run into more than one chain link fence in my day..i played in some high level leagues for awhile but didnt have near thge talent of aslot of the guys i played with so i had to hustle my ass off if i wanted to play..the only major injury i ever suffered playing ball was i seperated my right shoulder and tore the rotator cuff...that was from swinging the bat...i hit left handed and usually lead off because had excellent speed (my only attribute because my power was worse than luis castillo )...the tird baseman was way off the line so i tried to slap the ball down the line..it was an outside pitch i was trying to run to first as i hit it...my right shoulder went towards 3rd and the rest of my body went to 1st and rip..right out of the socket..who'd have thunk it before i swung???..s*** happens...but you gotta play your ass off and if a player feels comfortable sliding headfirst like i did then i see no problem with it
-
i think it depends on the player...if its thomas..id just assume he gets out of the way of one of an infamous magglio 6-4-3 instead of sliding and trying to break it up...franks getting up there in years now and 3 of the last 4 years he has been hurt...id rather see frank just give up at home and get tagged out instead of trying to run over a catcher...frank is not here to be a baserunner , he is here to hit 320 and drive in 130 runs (hopefully ) the other position i dont want to see guys go all out is pitcher...i dont want to see my pitcher diving after a short pop up that no one else can get to or worse , see them field a bunt or something and make an ackward throw , off balance throw to first...injuries to pitcher's arm are much more career threatening then injuries to everyday players.. now for everyone else on this team..they have to go all out all the time...other wise we see that lackadasical play that has become all too common the last 2 years
-
if he was here, he wouldnt have gotten hurt sure he would have.. since he left seattle thats pretty much all hes done is get hurt.........you guys can have him i on the other hand want nothing to do with him being on the south side................. the injury he suffered yesterday was because he crashed into a wall and fell on his shoulder funny...if he is with us , or any other team he isnt in cincy to try and make that play, so he doesnt get injured...this wasnt like a hamstring injury that eventually would have happened anywhere he was playing..it was a freak thing , like frank's injury in '01... plus we have the best padding in baseball in our outfield..even aaron rowand cant knock himself unconscience running into it
-
we got a new 3rd base coach...could have been a communication problem.. what the hell were we squeezing for anyways??..graffy is swinging the bat about as good as anyone on the team right now (except for my man jose )..thank god tony missed the sign because it was another stupid move by mauel
-
geez, we are back to jimenez??...i was hoping we would ride tony g's hot bat for awhile
-
wouldnt surprise if the tigers we running out don knotts today
-
if rowand can prove he is an everyday player then we can go with an outfield of borchard - rowand - ordonez either left to right or right to left and once and for all get rid of "mr. potential" - "dumbass caballo" , "the yard gnome" "the lawn ornament in left" or whatever you want to call his dumbass
-
had dinner with matt friday night..he is a real cool guy..glad i got to meet to and hope he can make it down again...with the exchange rate he ought to be able to buy chicago
-
with our power we are gonna have alot of big output games...weh we catch a pitcher tired or just not on his game we are gonna light him up the key will be how we do in one run games when we score 4 runs or laess...we are horrible in that stat last year..on august first i believe we had won only 2 games with 4 runs or less..compared to about 15 for minnesota...that was the difference in the division...the ley to this season..can we manufacure that one run to get us a victory when its 2-2 in the 8th??? as for detroit..i think the mets of 62 might have some competiton..i didt think it was possible for detroit to get worse then they were last year..they proved me wrong...50 wins will be an accomplishment for this team
-
this was one of the few moves i was happy with that kenny has made in his tenure here...white should be fine..just dont hang anymore curves!!!!
-
if he was here, he wouldnt have gotten hurt
-
It wouldn't incriminate you, but it could get you hurt...unofficially, of course... and for the record, I was only being semi-serious. I figured your post was kind of tongue-in-cheek, but you never know around here... usually in the form of a nightstick or telephone book upside the head.,..you get arrested ...just shut up and do what the cop says

ive been playing with this for 2 days now...trying to get fair numbers for everyday players , SP , C, RP here is how the numbers from last year woulds stack up at each position..i tried to use the top players, average players and last round fantasy players to make comparisions..other than schilling and johnson dominating..most of the top pitchers put up similiar numbers to top hitter...if i lower the win total for pitchers then they will be come less important than everyday players...so what do you think?? infielders - points tejada 915 arod 1026 helton 844 mcgriff 661 castillo 749 durham 801 chavez 787 d. bell 661 piazza 631 lieberthal 502 outfielders guerrero 923 c . lee 622 lofton 639 bonds 920 SP johnson 1247 zito 912 schilling 1162 pedro 888 garland 670 d.lowe 854 rogers 717 wright 673 buehrle 893 CL gagne 796 koch 778 jimenez 575 m.williams 619 set up marte 402 hawkins 412 bradford 446 rhodes 533 wakefield 658
