I like the "true" rivalries (Sox vs Cubs, Yankees vs Mets, Angels vs Dodgers, A's vs Giants, Houston vs Texas, etc.), and those series are kickass, but series like Arizona/Detroit or Colorado/Cleveland do absolutely nothing for me.
-
B Mac showed a lot of moxie and poise out there yesterday. To be making your first MLB start in front of a hostile crowd, in a stressful series, and against a hated rival, and to perform like that was ballsy. I think the kid's a keeper for sure. And if "Gas Can" Vizcaino can't get things straightened out, then ship him down to Charlotte and bring up "Baj."

The Red Sox had "Oil Can" Boyd. The White Sox have "Gas Can" Vizcaino. :sleep

Zambrano pitches a one-hitter through 7 innings and still gets a no decision while his team blows it. It couldn't happen to a nicer jagoff and crybaby. Here's to your next meltdown (and potential ejection) when you don't get a strike call, asshole.

Moronatti jumping on the Sox bandwagon?!
Pastime replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As usual, Moronatti just says what people want to hear so he can sell papers. He's from Detroit - his claim to fame in Chicago is just saying what fans want to feel and read so he can somehow become "one of their very own." He isn't one of ours. Thank God. Just take him for what he is - a bandwagon-jumping schill who could care less about any Chicago team unless he can get some recognition from their success. f*** him. As for kyyle and southsider - I know both of them from another forum, and I wouldn't trust either of them as far as I could throw them. They add nothing to any forum. I think both of them are closet Cub fans. J/K, guys. -
Happy Birthday!! You hardly look a day over 50! (Psssst - try Oil of Olay, you old codger.)

I would say that I'm stupid - but that would be redundant. I try to be helpful and nice, but just end up looking like a complete jackass. My life story in a nutshell, ladies and gentlemen.

Many congratulations! However, get used to very little sleep for a long time - unless your child was born after the due date. Scientific studies over the last 25 years have shown that newborns born before the due date don't sleep for s***, but for some reason those newborns who are born after their due date sleep well into the night and are no problem. They have studied this for years, and they still don't have a logical reason for it, but I just thought I would pass the statistics along to you. Either way, enjoy!! And make sure you raise that little angel to be a Sox fan!!

What's Klingon for "Hey, Loser - Get a f***ing life." I've always wondered how to express that.

I never played with Jose Canseco, and never played in the major leagues. However, I met Jose Canseco at a baseball card show in Chicago back in 2003. He signed my baseball card, then we went into a bathroom stall at McCormick Place, and he then injected me with steroids. And I loved every minute of it. I was finally able to lift my wife after that experience. Thank you so much, Jose. 'Roids Rule!!

Like I said on another thread, Kenny did nothing wrong. Borass and Magg$ wanted to play "cloak and dagger" and keep his medical records a secret, so what was Kenny supposed to do? He has a LIMITED BUDGET to work with, and it would be idiotic, stupid, and irresponsible to spend 1/5 of that on a player who is damaged goods, and a player that might not even be able to perform more than half the season. You just can't roll the dice like that on a player coming off a SERIOUS injury. Maggs had two MAJOR medical procedures on his knee, and he has a degenerative condition of edema in that knee. It would have been a HUGE risk - and with a limited payroll, it's not a risk worth taking. If Magg$ wants to b****, so be it. If anything, we should be b****ing about how many times he killed an inning with a GIDP - when he had a GOOD set of knees.

We've had a team that was among the league leaders in homers for the past 4 years, and what did that win us? NOTHING. The nice thing about the team now is that there is a great chance that guys will actually be on base for homers now. Don't fret or get your underwear in a bunch - this team will score runs. And hopefully we'll be rid of the horrible inconsistency on offense that we've come to know - score 9, 11, 15, 8, and 10 runs in a 5-game stretch, and then turn around and score 2, 1, 4, 1, and 2 runs in the next 5-game stretch. From the "DUH- No s***, Sherlock" category ---- multi-run HRs > solo HRs

I would just do what Yasny suggested - just sit there in silence. Hate is not the opposite of love - indifference is. I don't fault or blame the Sox at all for letting him go. The Sox weren't the ones playing "cloak and dagger" with his medical records - that was Maggs and his agent. Maggs ripping on the Sox was a classless and bitter thing to do - but he's not the first athlete to tear into his former team, and he certainly won't be the last. I appreciated what Maggs did for the Sox for 6 years, but he's the enemy now, so I want to beat him just as much as I want to beat every other Tiger player.

If he can be a spark at the top of the lineup anywhere near as good as Nellie was, then he's worth his weight in gold. Nice article - thanks for the link.

A very amusing thread from another board...
Pastime replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
One word - Dumbass. -
I expect Joe Crediocre to hit .255 - 15 HR - 60 RBI. That's his norm, I guess. If he does better, then we should all dance in the streets. If he does worse, I won't be shocked at all. I've never liked the guy, but I will embrace him if he actually pulls his head out of his ass and produces to the level that we have been waiting for. This is his "make it or break it" year. He either gives us what he was expected to give, or he shows that he is nothing more than a larger version of Chris Snopek.

Tony G wouldn't be a bad acquisition - any good team has a good bench, and he would certainly help the Sox bench. As for the "secret pitcher," I've been hearing Rob Nenn's name bantied about for a week or so. It's not that Shingo is a piece of crap or anything, but you can NEVER have enough good pitchers in your bullpen. I know Nenn has had surgery, and his arm isn't "golden" anymore, but if he's healthy, the guy is filthy as a closer. A safety valve in Nenn is nothing but a good thing. Always have a backup plan ....

Joe Bustchard = Kevin Maas without the one good year
-
From what I've read, he's a Scott BorASS client, and Kenny has already dismissed any discussions with a client with BorASS as an agent. However, with the interest in Miller, it seems like Boston is resigned to the fate that they won't be able to re-sign Varitek. Boo hoo. At least they won the big prize. I don't feel any sympathy for them anymore, or ever again. Yes, it's bitterness.
-
I heard Seattle wouldn't touch Joe with a 10 foot pole. A 10 foot pole. Hey, that's exactly what Joe Bustchard needs - he might hit .215.
-
Sometimes I wish that the Sox would just rebuild with young guys, instead of dealing with the likes of R Alomar, Everett, Ritchie, etc.

You'll have to forgive me, Rex, for thinking big. When I have, it's worked out quite well. I set my sights high the last 10 years and ended up with a wife, job, and home that I really have no right having. I am the poster child for overachievement. The big difference is that I had control over those things, but I have no control over the Sox payroll. I just want to win the WS and enjoy the celebration and happiness the "other" Sox fans did a month ago. That's all. I apologize for repeating the same crap - it's out of frustration more than anything else.
-
Rex, You know what really gets old and tired? An owner who makes big promises, and who says all the nice things, and then does nothing about it. And it also gets old and tired watching other teams go to the playoffs while the Sox sit at home as spectators. I have no facts? Well, according to Baseball books all over the place, the Sox haven't been in the ALCS since 1993, haven't been to the World Series since 1959, and have been to the playoffs only THREE times in JR's 20+ years as owner. THAT'S A FACT. I'm so sorry that my posts bother you so much.

The main question that people should ask Kenny Williams: Does having those strings attached to your shoulders really cause serious pain? Please kindly wait until his puppeter can actually help him form a response. Dolt. Moron.
