I feel bad rooting againt the Illini, but in my eyes they were the Cubs of college basketball. Maybe Willie should give SS or 3B a try if he wants to secure himself a spot on the roster. He played good defense and made some outstanding plays at second, so he might be able to make the adjustment. I'm no expert on the difficulty on swithing infield positions, but Arod was able to make a similar transition last year. Willie can be a graet player and showed good improvment last year, so getting rid of him would be a big mistake I think, especially since Iguchi is still very unproven.

Just throwing out a thought... If maggs couldn't get anyone to sign him for a decent amount of cash, I wonder if the Sox may have pursued him if they hadn't acquired dye. I'm thinking $4-5 mil with incentives for 1 year. I'm not sure exactly how incentives are worked out, but we could give him some cash for games played, average, and homers. However, I'm pretty glad he isn't coming back now, so I'm not saying we should/ should have done this, just wondering if there was a possiblility of it happenning.
