On Gardsy: QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) I definitely think he'll manage to win this game. If he gets the chance to, he'd love to spoil things for the Sox. Are you disappointed?

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Hey gang, what's the weather situation like in the city? Are we getting this one in? Its raining hard at Archer and Austin, about 15 mins from the park. Memo to Mark: no tarp sliding today.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) I don't understand, its the 'everyday' line up. The order is just a little juggled. My bad, I thought he was talking about the Sox.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) That's not a good lineup for the Twins. If Buehrle can't put up a good start against them tonight, then he let this team down. I don't understand, its the 'everyday' line up. The order is just a little juggled.

I don't see this as an issue. The Sox have hit 114 HR at home and given up 98. If it were an issue the easy solution would be to make the existing fence a little taller, perhaps with a chain link or screen you could see through. I sat in the 12th row out there for core of the core and, if remember right, don't think it would interfere much with the sight lines. I had a lot of beers though.

To paraphrase Wanne: Today's the day....I've heard for the last 3 years what a lights out, big-game pitcher this guy is...well Mark...it's put up or STFU day for you. If Mark lays a f***in egg today....I'd seriously think about including him in some sort of package in the off season. It worked yesterday.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) "View New Posts" function was not altered in any way. I'm a little confused about the difference between a search and a query. Isn't every screen the result of a MySQL query? I mean the data lives in tables and the various screens just format the selected records, so while a query is lauched by a user initiated search, aren't you are also running a query everytime you refresh a page or open a new one? MySQL is a nice program, I use it at work and at home, but I know it sucks up processors at an amazing rate. More RAM?

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) It doesn't matter where he hit in the line up, even if he hit 9th, he should of knocked in the winning run in the 9th inning against the Twins the first game, he choked, but has picked it up the last 2 games. Lets hope he continues to do it the rest of the year. I've been watching games for over 40 years so I'm pretty good at not letting momentary swings of emotion get to me. But that one stuck. There are only 3 or 4 outcomes to that at bat that don't score the run and he found one of them. The pitch was absolutely perfect for him, in the middle about thigh high with almost no movement. I think that's what surprised him, his eyes got big as saucers, he tried to put it on the moon and he popped it up. I don't think he went up there trying for a homer but it was such a cookie he just reacted -and missed. aaaaargh! He's done great things since then, the White Sox don't win Friday without him, so I am not on his case but, Oh boy did Thursday's at bat hurt. Every day is a new day in baseball, bless Jermaine for putting it behind him and playing well. I haven't quite put that one behind me yet.

QUOTE(winodj @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Here's my prediction. The White Sox won't score another run until tomorrow's game. We have a winner!

Is the Big Hurt not even traveling with the team?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) ^^^ If Frank is able to play baseball, I want it to be here. I agree and want to add that had Frank been able to play this season they would have clinched two weeks ago. Resigning the Big Hurt = big risk and big reward. -
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) Now I don't wanna start anything(more) but I have to say this collapse seems to fall on Ozzie. The Sox, in my estimation, have played worse since Ozzie's managing has gotten worse. I think Ozzie has been pretty consistant with his moves, except that they ran more before Podsednik went lame, which make sense. For better or worse, his lefty/righty pitching moves have been there all season and he hasn't shortened up on the starters outings. So the same guys who made him look like a genius in the summer make him look like an idiot in the autumn. This all comes with the territory. It could all change again tonight. A good thing about baseball is all the games start 0-0.

You will also note he has taken the media microscope off of the team and on to himself. He might be a little smarter than he looks.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) I too was proud to see the boys battle back. It goes to show all of those who are preaching about the Sox quitting and all of that garbage were dead on wrong. The biggest problem we had yesterday was Freddy Garcia's refusal to work to the inside corner, and a complete failure of the bullpen from Marte to Jenks to Hermanson. Poncino's refusal to call the inside strike contributed. He did it all night to both teams so no sour grapes, but if Freddy had gotten a couple calls I think he would have gone back in more often.

I am totally satisfied with how the White Sox played last night. Down by four against the American League ERA leader they battled and fought and scratched their way back, even took a lead. They still didn't lay down, after the Indians took the lead back, added an insurance run and trotted in the league save leader, the game still ended with the winning run at the plate. I wanted a win as much as anyone else but that was one great game, tip your hat to the Indians. If the Sox finish up playing like this I, for one, will remain a proud White Sox fan.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) i cant believe that a guy who was hitting .190 was ready to get steamrolled by the fans got a hit off a totally unhittable stud that all of us love! baseball is like the stock market. i will say however what can go wrong usually goes wrong for the sox & their great fans! there is really no way any true whitesox fan really is going to believe that we will win tomorrow, impossible! good lord how in the hell did the bears & bulls bring joy to the city of chicago? walter & jordan! Rule 1: Past performance does not guarentee future results. This rule also applies to the Indians.

I wish the Sox had won, but that was one great ball game. As Grant told Sherman after the first day at Shiloh, "Lick 'em tomorrow"

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Man this is a great game of baseball.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) I have a feeling Marte will start the inning. Jenks should be up in the pen if we need a strikeout in a big situation. Why switch a lefty for a lefty?
