QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) Does anyone remember who our LAST 3rd base coach was and what happened to him? Bruce Kim. I'm not sure he still in the majors.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Manny leads the league in assists with 12. Cora better not make that same play tonight. When it comes to PK and Frank on the bases, you need to play it safe. You only get 12 assists when EVERYBODY runs on you. There is a reason everybody runs on you.

QUOTE(Bridgeport Sox @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) I know i don't post much but this has been bothing me for some time now. I cannot believe he sent Paulie home on that base hit. All season long (and last season) he has been sending runners home on close plays and has been getting lucky, and when he's not lucky they are out by a mile. I love the Sox but I think we should can him after this season. What do you guys think? It was a good decision. Manny Ramirez screws that throw up 9 out of 10 times. This was the 10th. The White Sox have to stay aggressive, they don't have the overwhelming talent to play it safe. Same play tonight: send him again!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) You know, I didn't realize before today that Contreras has a lower ERA than Bonderman. He's had a habit of pitching great for most of the game but finding the key moment to turn it into a loss or no decision.

I wonder how he will fit in over there. The BSox are not exactly a God Squad.

KW gave a very open explanation on the Score. Basically, the way Ozzie was going to use him, Shingo’s innings were coming out of Bobby Jenks’. The think it would be better for Jenks to mop up and get his feet on the ground in the majors. Once Jenks is comfortable they think he can be something special. -- my take is they want to use the last pitcher slot for development instead of a 36 year old.

The can of corn reference comes from old style groceries. Space was limited so canned goods were put on shelving high on the wall, the customer would tell the clerk which can she wanted and the clerk would slide it off the shelf with a hooked stick, like a cane, then catch it with his free hand. So a can of corn is an easy catch.

Marte actaully got a save out of that mess.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 05:43 AM) Sergio Santos just turned 22. He probably could be ready to play SS in the bigs in early 2006. That would be a good bargaining chip if the sox want to trade for a SS now [that would move Uribe to UTL] Here are his numbers coming into 05 http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/sergio_santos.shtml '05: 16 errors in 84 games.

A fine victory.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) He couldn't throw a strike tonight. Thank goodness he got out of trouble. Anyone else wondering if he might repeat something along that line if (when) the Sox make the playoffs? Alou is 5 for 11 with 2 dings against him so he was careful. After the WP, walking Error-amis was the smart play and it set up the routine force out. I wouldn't read too much into it.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 06:31 AM) Just think about how much of an Ozzie-type player I-Rod is. He can hit, run (even steal a few bases), and play great defense. I know it's fun being a homer but come on... No denying Irod's talent. But he seems to play Ozzie-type ball only when it suits him instead of when the team really needs it. He can get so hot, like in 2003, that it doesn't matter, his pure talent overcomes his lack of situational awareness. His numbers will always look great but I think his team would win more games if he would give himself up when appropriate.

The Injuns were on ESPN last night and played a nice game against the Orioles. Brantley was waxing poetic about how great they are and how they will be a factor in the Central. Said the only team that he has seen give them trouble is the BoSox. Didn't mention the White Sox at all. Didn't note that Cleveland is 11 games behind the White Sox at about the half way mark, or that while they are 2-4 v the BSox while they are 3-6 v the WSox. Guess 2-4 is trouble but 3-6 isn't. Sometimes I think the White Sox are invisible.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) For Nook's Sake let's compare positions: C: I-Rod vs. AJ- I-Rod 1B: Konerko vs. Shelton- Konerko 2B: Polanco vs. Iguchi- Iguchi 3B: Inge vs. Crede- Inge SS: Guillen vs. Uribe- Guillen RF: Ordonez? vs. Dye- Dye CF: Logan vs. Aaron- Aaron LF: Pods vs. White- Pods DH: Frank vs. ?- Frank I'm not even gonna compare the rest cause all that is in the Sox favor. 3 out of 9 positions go to the tigers. enough said. I'm not even sure about I-Rod. Wednesday he came up after Politte walked the bases loaded with no outs and struck out swinging on 3 consecutive pitches that I didn't think were in the strike zone. A good illustration of the 'great' player hurting his team because he wants to be a hero. I was shaking my head at the time, here's a guy with the game on his bat -even a 6-4-3 double play roller would have won for the Tigers- and he goes hacking away like home run derby. Yuk, give me AJ, he would have walked or got hit something.

What Former Sox player should have his number

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) Todd Ritchie I take this as sarcasm. It's not just you Jersey, but I can't understand why everybody ridicules Todd Ritchie. Look up his day by day, he was good until he hurt his arm. Once hurt he was never the same, he had an operation and tried for years on various teams to come back but the flipper was broke. To me this disappointment brings sadness but not derision. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Who's the manager of your All-City team? 100.0% Ozzie Guillen, White Sox 9127797 responses) 0.0% Dusty Baker, Cubs (41 responses) 127838 total responses --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok so I went a little overboard with Ozzie. I had to work all day so I just let it run, I didn't think it would make it up to 1/6 of a million votes. It was certainly childish and even a little boorish. If I wasn't aware of your skills from how much you do for this site I'd question the amount of time on your hands but you're so good it probably only took a couple minutes work, if that. Prankish and immature, maybe, but I loved every moment and also reading this thread though the week. Great job to you and your helpers!
