  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Great job Freddy. He struggled early but really battled through and kept the Sox in this game. He showed a lot of toughness and I for one am thinking this will be the game that gets him back on track down the stretch. Hopefully Neal can come in and set the tribe down and keep this game tied up. Thats balls
  2. Interesting, Blakes error opened the door. Without that extra out the Sox would have scored one.
  3. Them Indians may live to regret letting the White Sox off the hook in the early innings.
  4. This might be a way for Oz to get Hermanson's confidence and his own confidence in him back. H's innings have been so inconsitant, what with the back injury, that he needs a couple outings in a row to demonstrate what you will get when you put him in.

  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) When the Sox are playing their best baseball...getting good performances from their starting pitchers, bullpen, and getting some timely hitting/manufacturing runs, I don't fear a single team in baseball. You got it right Balta! When the White Sox play good baseball they are hard to beat. Not from hero crap, just a good game where everybody does their job.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) His real name is Bugsy
  8. I was at a BBQ yesterday and about 3/4 of the crowd were Cub fans. They sounded exactly like some of the voices on this board. They all act like the year is already over. I had to remind them that [while theirs was], the Sox are 3-1/2 up with two weeks to play. I read these relentlessly critical posts and I swear I am back in cubdom. Beck's got it right, the most exciting part of the season is yet to come, if anyone doesn't enjoy it -savor it, relish it- it's their own fault. I don't know how it will come out but it's been a hell of a ride and I'm staying all the way to the finish line. The rest of you can go buy blue hats.
  9. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 03:06 AM) I'll be shocked if we win this one. Steel yourself
  10. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, this team is gonna freaking kill me! God Bless the Chicago White Sox!

    New Season

    QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) This is sooo awesome Awesome it is, I just wish they were playing better baseball. The Sox win when they make few mistakes and take advantage of the other guys mistakes. They never really beat anyones brains out. Its been the other way around lately, they find ways to give away a game instead of stealing it. When the players stop trying to win 5 games every night, get back in the 'now' and just do their jobs things will turn around. I expect them to play better baseball, on both sides of the ball. The team has a way of responding when everyone counts them out. Its been a great season, and the best is yet to come.
  12. I’ve never understood why people impute moral rectitude with success on the ball field. When winning they are stronger, purer in thought and motive than other the team. Fans latch on and invest themselves - WE swept Cleveland after the break, nobody can beat US. When they lose it is because they are low life timorous chokers. Only players who are greedy, lazy and selfish ever strike out. THESE guys are a bunch of bums. THEY are a pathetic disgrace. In truth they are the same guys win or lose, the game is only a game. As wrapped up in it as we get, it’s just baseball. Baseball will not get you an A on an exam, or keep you off the chop list when they restructure your department. It won’t raise your kids or pay your mortgage. That paper you are late with will still owed no matter how the season comes out. The only effect baseball has on you is what you do to yourself. The White Sox, those brave, selfless over achievers have become, in the minds of some, a team of weak-minded venal individuals. But the guys haven’t changed, only the way we view them. This is more a reflection on the beholder than the White Sox.

  14. QUOTE(TLAK @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Game 1 was gone, Game 2 said it was gone. I switched my preference from best available to upper deck box and got 2 for game 2. Game 2 Box 513 row 3. No that I think about it, I bet many tickets get put on hold so it looks like every thing is sold, then the user doesn't execute the buy and the seats come back. Keep trying.

  17. The second time around theory really hasn't held up this year. The Sox are 14-17 in the second decision against pitchers who have more than one decision against them. When you only count those where the time between decisions is 14 days or less, they are 4-4. As to Howell, he went 5 IP 5 ER June 22, 6 IP 2 ER on Sept 8. Both in US Cellular. I guess they'll have to play the game tonight to see who wins.
  18. http://www.hickoksports.com/history/baserook.shtml If I am reading this correctly Jenks will not be a rookie because he was called up July 5, giving him 56 days on the roster before 9/1. BMac will be a Rookie as his two stints (May 22 to 27 and Jun 19 to July 4) add up to 20 days. Neither had 50 innings to Sept 1.
  19. QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) I was wondering who BMac would replace before this Marte development. I was thinking Viz. but either way, BMac would look really good in the bullpen in the playoffs. Having a solid guy who could be ready to log 2, 3 innings at a time [El Duque scares me coming out of the pen] might be key in the playoffs, so the entire pen isn't used up. I haven't even thought about who the other 14 guys on the offense will be yet. I'm just looking for the 9 starters to get going and the sox will be in decent shape I'm with you, I was hoping to see BMac either back to back or every other day against the Angels to see how he reacted.
  20. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) rain delay? ....i guess i should go study huh? Farmer says about a 7:45 start. He always lies so figure 8 or 8:30.

  22. USA Today Since August he's been on and off the bereavement and dissabled lists but now has decided to put a cork in it. So the Sox' closest competetor has also lost a key bullpen arm.

    Limping Home

    QUOTE(JoshPR @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 03:19 AM) How many of those teams had the Division wraped up by then? Looks like they all had a pretty good margin, just like the current White Sox. 1981 was a strike year so they split the season, LA got in from winning the first half with a 36-21 record. They treaded water in the second half going 27-26. The team with the best record, the Reds at 66-42 did not make the playoffs. Folks in Ohio are still upset about that. Should the White Sox succeed, and we run this query again a few years from now, the 2005 Sox will be right in the mix. You still need 11 wins in the playoffs, no matter how you get in.
