  1. Gonzalez is a mess. Watch him hit his glove with his knee, one time I thought the ball would come out.
  2. they don't want to show Bradford to too many hitters. He's less effective second time around. We used to have him.
  3. Hang in there and get to the bullpens. The Red Sox are going to score some runs so don't jump off a cliff when it happens. The White Sox need to play all 9 innings. I'll take our chances with White Sox hitters against the Red Sox bullpen.

  5. From MLB.Com Nice to the be 'other' ALDS.
  6. The White Sox have shown they can beat any of the teams contending for the playoffs. They have also shown they can be beaten by any of them. If anyones fears a particular team, remember that if you don't see them in the ALDS you could get them in the ALCS so what's the diff? You have to go through all of them to get the prize. I really don't believe much in play off match ups, these series are so short that it comes down to who is hot at at the right time, there are not 162 games to even things out. I don't think anyone can predict who will be hot next week. I just want the White Sox to play their hearts out against whoever they get and let the chips fall where they may.

  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) Marte is potentially a lot more valuable for the Sox than Duque would be in the playoffs. Against a team like the Angels, Marte could come in to face guys like Anderson and Finley. Do we really want Duque pitching in a tight spot? I thought Marte actually looked real sharp last night. Take away the double and the single Marte gave up facing 5 batters and he was lights out. Marte's role is more valuable than the one El Duque would probably fill, but if you can't trust him then you can't use him and you might as well not bring him along. Did any else notice in the box that Marte got a hold (he left with the lead) and Hermanson got a blown save for coming in with runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs and allowing one run? Correct scoring but no justice.
  9. I compiled the answers and find the average SoxTalk poster who responded attended nearly 10 games at the USCell this year. Dick Allen went to 62 games. 5 guys went to 1. The median number of games attended is 5.5. Considering that many posters do not live in Chicago, and others are too old, too young and/or too broke, I think this is a fine number. SoxTalk is a way for folks who can't go to the park to be part of the season. SoxTalk posters are not overly lucky in selecting games. The overall WPct of .539 is 40 points under the White Sox overall home WPct of .580 Poster Win Loss Total WPct ~~HighHeat45~~ 6 2 8 .750 3E8 0 3 3 .000 aboz56 3 2 5 .600 AssHatSoxFan 2 0 2 1.000 BabyJesus69 4 15 19 .211 Balance 1 2 3 .333 Bias 3 2 5 .600 BigEdWalsh 1 0 1 1.000 Chi Town Sox 13 3 16 .813 chimy2121 4 1 5 .800 chisoxfan79 2 0 2 1.000 Chisoxfn 6 4 10 .600 ChiSoxyGirl 1 0 1 1.000 Chsoxrd5 10 14 24 .417 Dick Allen 35 27 62 .565 elamins 9 2 11 .818 farmteam 0 3 3 .000 Felix 1 0 1 1.000 GarlandFan20 2 2 4 .500 GasHeGone 1 7 8 .125 Gldfinger5 5 0 5 1.000 greasywheels121 0 1 1 .000 GreatScott82 6 4 10 .600 IlliniKrush 6 7 13 .462 JuiceCruz16 9 10 19 .474 KWs OK for Me 8 12 20 .400 LauraJ14 16 13 29 .552 NorthSideSox72 4 1 5 .800 Queen Prawn 3 2 5 .600 rangercal 8 3 11 .727 redandwhite 4 1 5 .800 Reddy 1 2 3 .333 robinventura23 3 2 5 .600 Rods70Rowand33 8 10 18 .444 RX Bandits 1 1 2 .500 santo=dorf 2 2 4 .500 SnB 8 6 14 .571 SoIL 0 1 1 .000 southsider2l5 3 4 7 .429 Sox Hustler 2 1 3 .667 SoxPhan7 3 2 5 .600 The Bones 1 2 3 .333 The Critic 6 2 8 .750 The Human Borch 4 4 8 .500 THEWOOD 10 7 17 .588 TLAK 3 3 6 .500 tonyho7476 14 11 25 .560 valponick 14 12 26 .538 Whitesoxfan56 17 16 33 .515 WinningUgly85 5 1 6 .833 wsox08 5 5 10 .500 WSoxMatt 2 3 5 .400 YASNY 1 3 4 .250 ZoomSlowik 3 4 7 .429 Responses: 53... I'd love it if these guys beat the Indians, pull Buehrle after 75 pitches in 6 innings, then Atkins and Marte set up Baj for the save.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) That's wonderful greasy. Whenever I argue about whether a player should go to the Hall I always ask 'what are you going to write on his plaque?' The way you phrased his stats and accomplishments is a convincer, particularly the 7 consecutive years. Great work! Hang on to it so you can change the 2005 to about 2008 -and I hope all with the White Sox.
  12. I stand corrected Josh, the head to head indeed comes into play if both two teams are ahead of everyone else for the WC, something I did not consider. Thanks for the insight!
  13. Josh is right about 2001. But this year there would be a playoff.
  14. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) Here is why: If they win tommorow the worst they can do is 96-66. The best Cleveland can do after Tonight's game is 96-66. The division would than go to the Sox because they won the season series and the Wild Card will go to the Indians assuming Cleveland is in position to win it. You're thinking football, pal. There are no tie breakers in baseball. If they finish with the same record they play off, 1 game. There is a coin flip for home field, and Sox already lost it, so it would be in the Jake.
  15. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! These are not the 1967 White Sox!

  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) Oh yah. Thats all it was. Crappy freakin luck. For the second time tonight. I'm tired of it. When do we get break after break like the Indians. do you want the sun to come out?
  19. I wouldn't mind Brian Dolgin getting a shot. He has improved every night, he has P b P experience and he brings a playfullness to the air that I've come to enjoy. Except when he talks about his damn car he is relentlessly sane and I think he would be a good change of pace from Farmer on a daily basis.
