There was a great post earlier in the thread showing how much better Leury Garcia has been than Andrus for the last several years. There just isnt a whole lot of positives I can see from this signing, but you are correct, $3million isnt a big deal.

He is absolutely blocking people. Andrus is a patch, not a long term solution. He also isn't going to make or break this season so whats the purpose of spending that $3 million when you will more than likely get the same from a handful of guys already in the organization? Controllable players with more upside now and in the future not getting the job because of this signing, that would be blocking. If he was signed for depth, sure whatever I can live with that. He wasn't though, he was declared the 2B from what I have seen. It reeks of the White Sox seeing that small sample size and thinking they have solved the problem.

Great post. The odds are heavily favored that one of our internal options for 2B will outperform or match Andrus and they are practically free. While 3 million isn't a big commitment, this still seems like a waste of resources for a team that has openly been crying poor this off-season.

Yeah with the exception that these uneducated men will make more money than any of us will probably see in our lifetime. I wonder what professional sports would look like if it paid like a $60K per year salary.

If the season is lost but Giolito is having a good year, I can definitely see them getting something better than a QO for him in a trade.

I think the point is they shouldn't be relevant to a team like the White Sox (Market size, going for it, etc.) Spending $10 million on 2 players that are sunk costs shouldn't prevent a team that is all in from making moves to accomplish the ultimate goal, winning a championship.

This is an odd subject, because technically the Blackhawks did nothing wrong to lose you as a fan, it was the people who currently own/run the team. If those people were to move on, would you be inclined to be a fan again?

You have to imagine with a better coach and system he should rebound. Its very odd that a franchise level QB just falls off a cliff like that.

The Sox aren’t serious World Series contenders. It doesn't matter if they back into the playoffs in a weak division, they’re coming off a massively disappointing campaign with many of the same holes remaining that did last year. like I said earlier, as currently constructed they aren’t a threat to beat teams like Houston, New York, LA, etc. in a few 7 game series.

This team as currently constructed are not World Series threats. They have enough to win the Central though.

His 2022 is definitely the outlier of his career, so there's also that to consider.
