  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 03:07 AM) YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS well played sir, well played..
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) Just saw an ad, Free Xbox 360 with a Windows 7 PC purchase. Its a 4G XBOX, so aka worthless without the hard drive..
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 02:36 AM) Actually, a marathon is a race. And baseball is too. Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint. Yes, I meant sprint obviously
  4. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) Tweaked just a bit for more truth. Well I wouldnt go that far.. for the most part they have kept the two main titles on their top talents.. but man the IC title use to be the tits.. the battles Razor Ramon and HBK had over it.. hell Razor and Double J.. it use to be prestigious and now its just kinda like here you have it for a while since we dont have anything to do with you right now..
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 12:38 AM) No 8???? Lebron still the GOAT!!! Miami is gonna piss this series away if LeBron doesn't realize hes the best player on that floor and start acting like it.. jesus, 11 shots? Cmon man..
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) Both our CF and LF have taken steps back from last year. Man, does anyone pay attention to splits? I know its trendy to bash on Pierre this season but here are his month-month splits April - 111 AB: .243 / .286 / .270 / .556 - 5 SB 7 CS May - 112 AB: .286 / .365 / .339 / .704 - 4 SB 1 CS June - 18 AB: .278 / .409 / .444 / .853 - 1 SB 1 CS Its hard to argue that he hasn't been helping the team since May 1st, Rios on the other hand...........
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) We're 19-11 over that time. That's a .633 winning percentage. If we were to continue on such a "mediocre" pace for the remainder of the season we would win 93 games. Its like talking to the wall man
  8. QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 12:17 AM) The six out means about nothing right now too. Its the beginning of june. You people are crazy. You mean like how our slow start in April and part of May should have meant about nothing too? Everyone still flipped about that.. Its not so much that were 6 back now, but that we are actually starting to put some things together and win games.. So yeah, you're kinda right that it doesn't mean much right now but the fact that were getting back into it does mean a lot because after the start we had we need all the momentum we can get right now..
  9. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:56 PM) You think it is more likely that the Sox trade him to NY? Yes I do. Unless the Yankees are really scouting us 2+ months in advance, which would seem a little weird to me considering we only play them what like 7-8 times a year.. Do you mean Humber? I don't know about that, but Danks could be an option for them.. I guess they both could. Either way, I think if you were to make odds, the Yankees want pitching and we have too many starters.. Theres a good chance that we could be out of it come near the deadline and one of our pitchers is headed to the Yankees.. I just think the situations match up pretty well, so if I was to guess if they were scouting us for an August series our scouting one of our pitchers ide lean more towards the trade option side of it..
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) My boy Zach Putnam (played ball at the same high school, 3 yrs apart) is just killing it in the minors for the Indians, he really could be a stud pitcher. Looks like they converted him to a reliever but his stats are pretty insane: IP: 32.1 ERA: 2.51 WHIP: 1.021 HR/9: 0.8 BB/9: 1.7 k/9: 7.2 I don't know if I would call that insane
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) This is the stuff that I don't understand, being excited over making up ground. When they get to 4 games back of the leader in the loss column they'll be contenders. Until then they are also-rans. So nobody should be optimistic about cutting the deficit in half over the last 4 weeks?
  12. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) I would guess scouting for the series in August. not sure if serious, but that's good stuff
  13. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) I agree with what Bill Parcells said, "you are what your record says you are." but can we at least wait to see what their record will finish as? or should they just forfeit the season in june?
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) You say they are playing good baseball, I just disagree. They have not cut the deficit in half in a four week stretch, they've picked up 4 games in the loss column. I'm not a debbie downer. I am following the team as I always do and I am still down on the team. The team is still under .500, still not playing good baseball. What do you want the four of us to do ... act all fat and happy about how great the Sox are? I want the Sox to win. The Sox still deserve a grade of D for the season. Do you agree? If it changes to a C, B, A, I'll be f***ing thrilled. Watching the team make out after out with runners in scoring position with less than two outs would drive anybody crazy. How you retain the optimism is great, but I can't do that right now. You give the team a grade to this date, please. It's a D. Why do you insist on giving season grades and harping on being back in the loss column 1/3 into the season? Baseball is a marathon, not a race..
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) Right-handed pitchers who throw in the low 90's without either a plus breaking or off-speed pitch=boring. Hey, its still a SP that looks to have some projectability and could move quick through the system.. better than the Broadways and McCullochs of the past
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) White Sox=boring whats boring about taking a SP with 4 pitches who could move quickly through the system? Isn't that something we need with ?'s like Buehrle, Peavy, Danks, Jackson, and Humber in our current rotation?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) Pretty obvious Sox will take Purke here. But will that change our grade with J4L??
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) To this point, yes. And let's not act like I'm the only human being on the planet that gives out draft grades right away. Happens in every sport. I'm not waiting until 2015. No, you're not the only person who does that.. but man you are GUSHING over some of these teams "drafts", maybe I should say picks? Its hasn't even been two rounds yet.. the majority of these dudes will never see the major leagues
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) Nationals, Pirates and D-backs all with A+. lol, a couple picks into round 2 and you're giving people A+ grades on drafts that wont even matter for 3 years
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) To be fair, I initially thought they meant all-time. Not just since the 2-3-2 format. That did sound kinda unbelievable. This is much more passable. crazy that in a 7 game series, tied at 1-1, and certain thing happens in the THIRD game and you can pretty much call it a night..
  21. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 02:46 AM) Miz wrote on Twitter that he was not injured last night. that's odd considering the word was that he was thrown over the ropes, landed wrong, and needed to be carried to the back with the match essentially just being stopped with no winner declared..
  22. QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) I agree 100%. I feel like the creativity just isn't there right now. I also miss different factions and the two the WWE currently utilizes suck (Corre and Nexus). As long as I can remember, there has been great factions: Ted DiBiase and the Million Dollar Corporation, The Hart Foundation, The Task Master Kevin Sullivan and the Dungeon of Doom, Raven and the Flock, the NWO, DX, The Nation of Domonation, The Blue Bloods, The Ministry of Darkness, the list goes on and on. I didn't watch much wrestling for a couple years and now I've come back, I miss what factions add to wrestling. Yep, I miss the characters and the stables.. those two things alone add a huge element to storylines.. now its just like solo guys going by their real names.. there arent really stables, tag teams are completely irrelevant.. I meant s***, look at tag teams back in the day like the smoking gunns, legion of doom, the body donnas, the new age outlaws, demolition, the natural disasters, the steiner brothers, the nasty boys, quebecers, headshrinkers, even teams like the headbangers and men on a mission.. tag teams and stables use to be huge and now they are a thing of the past Remember when the Intercontinental title actually meant something? Yeah, now its worthless..
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 02:10 AM) You hope that a switch just goes on and he becomes the monster he used to be, and that really isn't unprecedented, but it's really just a wait and see game. I don't think people remember how bad Konerko was in the first half of 2003. On June 28th, Paul Konerko's OPS was .525. From July 2nd until the end of the season, Konerko put up an .865 OPS. To cherry pick further, from July 13th to September 7th, he OPS'd 1.050. Dunn is definitely not going to have his typical year, but I'm going to be extremely surprised if he doesn't end up with an OPS of .800. He's had a pretty terrible year, but I would honestly say it's probably only half as bad as the year Konerko was having in 2003 - considering his OPS was more than 100 points less and strong offense was much more prevalent then. He will right the ship. He won't end up with a typical 38 homer, .900 OPS Adam Dunn season, but he will right the ship. Ugh, Konerko was SO bad in that first half.. its crazy that it does almost feel exactly the same with Dunn right now.. its just like, what the hell is going on??
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 11:06 PM) Cmon, shaved games off the lead?? The team has a season high win streak of four games. The team has been OK of late. We're all big boys/girls and this team has done very little to crow about. If Dunn and Rios were earning half their paychecks we might be 10 over .500 and if we were 10 over .500 we'd all be happy. And yes, thank goodness for Paulie and Sergio. So you want to complain when they looked dead in the water, and now you STILL wanna complain about it when we are making ground and catching up to Cleveland?? You would figure that when they started turning it around people would be more inclined to actually start seeing a positive to the season, but it appears some people just want to b**** for the hell of it.. I can think of about 4 of you guys off the top of my head.. give it a rest already they've cut their deficit in HALF in what, a 4 week stretch? First it was there's no way they are gonna contend for the division after their start.. oops.. and then it was Cleveland got off to way too good of a start.. oops again.. Whats the point of being a debbie downer when they are actually playing good baseball lately? I don't get it.
  25. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 11:32 PM) So I was right as far as the 2-3-2 format goes. I have no clue about before that. I wonder how many of those teams where the home team for the middle 3 games
