  1. DeLoach has 9 games under his belt, his minor league performance is encouraging and even if he just becomes a 4th OFer the trade then becomes a slam dunk because as I said previously, 100 loss teams have no use for good relievers. You can make the argument that Santos doesn't even fall under that category as he one good season of 66 IP. Santos did have value, that's why the Sox got 2 close to MLB ready prospects and a draft pick for him. Its hard for me to not see this one as anything but a win, as I have a hard time believing you were getting anything more valuable than the package we got back. As far as Cease goes, who knows what kind of performance he would have had on this team this season. Im still happy with the package we got back as I think Thorpe is definitely an MLB pitcher, Iriarte looks promising, and I still believe in Sammy Zavala. Hes a 19 year old in Advanced A ball who had a 17% walk rate, 22% K rate, and has some pop. Not ready to call him a bust just yet.
  2. Well they have already gone 0-3 in the stretch where I thought they could go 5-10. I don't think there is anyway they go 5-7 so I may have to revise my 38 win prediction down a couple notches.
  3. When you consider how bad our team is, how bad our team will be for a while, and the wasteland of our minor leagues I would say getting 3 prospects for an injured middle reliever with no track record of sustained success was definitely a win for the White Sox. DeLoach didn't do anything in his very brief stint at the MLB level, but hes 25 and hit .285 with a .777 OPS at the AAA level so at least there's a chance you can get something out of him even if its a 4th OFer. Berroa is a 24 year old reliever, the results aren't there but if they can get his walks under control you have something. Hes got a big time arm. And then of course the draft pick, a LHP prep arm who alone I would have rather had than some reliever throwing 50 innings on a 120 loss team. The other thing to consider here is Santos threw a whole 5 innings for the Mariners this season and who knows if he will ever do anything close to what he did in 2023 again.
  4. The Santos trade was a no doubt successful trade. 100 loss teams have no use for good relievers so getting essentially 3 prospects for him is an easy win.
  5. Yep, that's pretty obvious by how nothing at all has changed since he took over.
  6. Oh boy, this team is so bad and the future is so bleak. They literally need starting MLB caliber players at 8 of 9 spots on offense and the one they have (Robert) isn't making a strong case for it.
  7. No kidding. In trying to not waste a year he probably ended up wasting 3+ years. The decision to hand over control to an in house unqualified GM has set this organization back so far its not even funny. Its likely that JR never sees a winning Sox team again in his lifetime. And its no ones fault but his own.
  8. lol I don't even know if you can count 50 people in this picture.
  9. I don't see them winning 9 games over these last 30. @ Baltimore (3), @ Boston (3), Vs. Cleveland (3), @ San Diego (3), @ Detroit (3) is 15 games against people still fighting for playoff positioning. I think Baltimore, Boston, and San Diego all sweep them at home. They take 1 from Cleveland and Detroit to go 2-13 here. Vs Texas (3), Vs New York Mets (3), Vs Oakland (3), @ Los Angeles Angels (3), Vs. Los Angeles Angels (3) is 15 games against bad teams that are still way better than our bad team. 5-10 here. That puts them at 38 wins as my guess. It will be very surprising to see them get to 40 wins.
  10. So I guess were just going to roll with Nicky Lopez leading off the rest of the season and giving at bats to Gavin Sheets instead of seeing what some of these kids can do on this team that's 70 games under .500 in August...
  11. Well of course, those coaches don’t give a s%*# about those kids it’s all about winning that LLWS
  12. Can't say im surprised to see how well the majority of these guys are doing after leaving this horrible organization.
  13. They had the first game against the Cubs that was interesting and then the 12-2 winner against the Yankees, otherwise its been the same ol s%*# of no offense at all and the bullpen imploding.
  14. I wish they would format it so the wildcard is a best of 5 and all other series are best of 7.
  15. You don't have to like the guy, but Stone is no dummy. He's a very sharp baseball mind, and I can't imagine its enjoyable to sit here and watch this terrible team play 162 games just completely screwing up the simplest and basic fundamental things. Much like the other night when Bellinger scored when he should have been thrown out by a mile, that just can't happen on a major league team. That's little league stuff that 8,9,10 year olds are learning.
  16. The trade looks like a bust so far for the Sox. Im not trying to argue the trade was good. Trading Burger, was absolutely the right move. Last time I checked, the Marlins were 30 games under .500 I don't think they're running a victory lap about this trade either.
  17. Here's the problem with the White Sox and what I believe happened. Kenny and Hahn were not going to get fired in season, but after the deadline things got so bad that JR was finally forced to do it now. Pedro and his buddies weren't going to be fired in season either, but then they lose 21 games in a row and again JR is forced to make a decision now instead of waiting. There is no other plausible reason why you would let someone run your trade deadline and then fire them a few weeks later. Same deal with the Vargas thing where apparently someone suggested him and then was promptly fired a few weeks later.
  18. Which do you think is more likely; the Marlins chose to not make Burger available as he is a piece they want to build around OR his atrocious performance to date coupled with his age, streakiness, injury history and positional flexibility netted little interest? I think the safe assumption is the latter.
  19. Seriously, he has 23 HR's total in the last 3 seasons combined.
  20. Yeah, the return on that trade doesn't look great at the moment. Either way, you just saw the Marlins have a complete fire sale at the deadline and my guess is there weren't many takers for a streaky 28 year old DH who was terrible up to that point.
  21. Ok fine, he has a 1.3 fWAR. This is still not great. Being Mike Trout for 28 days doesn't erase the previous 90 days from existence. The Fletcher trade really has nothing to do with Jake Burger. They don't play the same position, they aren't even remotely similar as players, and it was two different regimes. That trade sucked too by the way. The fact remains, Jake Burger on the 2024 White Sox doesn't change the outcome of this season one bit. Jake Burger would never have seen the next competitive Sox team no matter what.
  22. Jake Burger has 0.7 bWAR on the year. This includes this stretch for the last 28 days where he has had a 1.200 OPS. If he wasn't traded last deadline, he would have been traded this off-season/deadline. If he wasn't traded this deadline, he would have been traded next off-season/deadline. There is no scenario, ever, where Jake Burger is a building block for this team. 100 loss teams don't keep or build around 28 year old DH's.
  23. To the shock of no one, the Sox make a managerial change and the team starts playing better. Maybe if they had done this months ago we would only be looking at a bad season and not a historically bad season. Just add it to the list of bad decisions this franchise keeps making.
  24. Benintendi sucks, I wish they could strap him and Crochet onto a rocket and fire them into the sun for all I care.
  25. f*** off Garrett. This dude can’t be traded soon enough.
