The Mets
QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) If they get Delgado... what the f*** is that? Pedro, Beltran and Delgado... probably the 3 biggest FAs this offseason all to the mets and just cuz they have a lot of cash to sling around. Damn I hate it... Chuck the mets up there with the Yanks and Redsox... Angels I guess too. But I feel the Mets are being even worse than any of those others... this kinda thing destroys the game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No s***, how nice would it have been to see Beltran stay in Houston? (For reasons other than we hate the Cubs) The Mets were always like the Yankees and Red Sox, they just spent it like morons and got very unlucky.

Vazquez again...
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) I highly, highly doubt KW f***s with the rotation we have right now, not to mention the make-up of this team is SOOO different from last year, I can't see Garland being shipped off. Just to many fan favorties gone to make the casual fan happy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, Garland's our 5th starter now and he's a damn good 5th starter too.

Vazquez again...
It's gotten to the point where I've heard so much about Vazquez that I don't even want him anymore. Not to mention I'd rather not have my rotation be 60% ex-Yankees.

2005 Regular Season Individual Tickets
QUOTE(Yoda @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Does anyone know if Ticketmaster will have White Sox tickets this Friday? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, if they do, I'm snatching up Opening Day tickets as soon as possible.

Schoney signs on with
LMAO Shoney got overpaid. But what he's getting isn't really surprising. Pitchers have been expensive as hell.

A New Moderator
That's a good choice. I don't think I've seen Goldy even pick a fight with anyone, more or less get into one. I agree.

Ignore Feature

Would you be pissed?
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) The issue is I think it is insulting to my kid. I dodn't take conservative to mean in the political context. He wants to see kids with very short hair styles. He also asked me to inform one of my assistants to remove his earing around the kids. I refused. He said "conservative hairstyles and dress" in the email. He has on two occasions specifically told my son he should cut his hair. My son passed his Eagle Scout board of review with that hair. The kids are coming from all over the area, mostly working poor to middle class. The resident camp costs $140 for the week. The camp has had declining enrollment each year because of the quality of the staff's instruction and the quality of the facilities and food. I have sat in literally dozens of meetings on why Units aren't using the facility for summer camp and the appearance of the camp staff has never been mentioned once. My son's hair is barely past his ears, not even near his shoulder, and not in his eyes except when wet. This guy wears his hair in a crew cut, has a full beard, and a big chew between the cheek and gum. (to his credit, never around the kids) The issue is more if someone says I won't hire anyone like this or that and this and that describes your child, would you be pissed? I'm taking a general comment and making it personal. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What a jackass. Would he hire a woman with short hair? I recently cut all my hair off, but I was one of those long haired "freaks". Having long hair is kind of fun when you're a teenager, because when you're out in the real world and not rich, you'll probably need to have short hair. But some teenage job? C'mon.

Koch back with the Blue Jays
QUOTE(CubKilla @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) Hopefully he's gonna "close" for the Jays. I'll stay tuned in till the last pitch of every game against the Jays that the Sox are losing, no matter how bad, as long as the spectre of Billy Botch entering the game looms as a possibility. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, no s***. We could be down 5 and then up 5 in no time.

Split from the Pyrz Thread
I think he meant the topic won't ever go away, as in the topic of offensive terms. Not this thread.

It Depends How You Define "Quiet"...
LMAO. That guy knows nothing.

ESPN Rumor Central
With all these new rumors floating around, it seems Kenny still has some sort of trade he wants to do. Or some other move other than adding a 2Bman.

Family Guy
- Division Champs?
I think this group has a better chance of succeeding than the old group. The old group beat you by the home run. This new group could beat you in a variety of ways, like smallball, home run, and pitching even. I just think that this team has a better chance of not crippling under pressure like the past groups.- What happen to the post???
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) I'm not gay, I'm offended by the usage. Perhaps you don't mind if your aren't the one being insulted. When you are being insulted, do you want everyone to adopt the attitude of it isn't me, so why should I care? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, actually. That'd be nice. And how is someone calling a football player gay or posting the Are You Gay? thing relevant to that poem? No one I know is coming for the gays.- What happen to the post???
QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) I've called myself gay here many times. That's not an insult. But I remember the word meaning homosexual at least 6 or 7 years ago.... so I think you're wrong on that point. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does my signature offend you, winodj? (the text [be honest]) If not, I find it rather funny that people who are not gay take offense to the word, but someone who is doesn't. It's hysterical, really!- What happen to the post???
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10576&hl= <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BMR hit the nail on the head in that thread. I didn't like his attitude so much, but goddamn he was so right.- What happen to the post???
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) I really don't understand what is so hard to understand about this. The admins and mods get together and made decisions, most always approved by Jason and that is how things are done. Who is anyone else to come on here and question the decisions that are made? If you want to use the word gay or any other bashing, start your own website and have at it. This site is so lenient about what we allow, yet when anyone is asked to do something like remove a signature for its content or not to use certain words, it's like we are asking people to walk on water. Everyone should understand that it is no one's right to post whatever they see fit on this site. You are fortunate that Jason provides this public forum in which we can all have these discussions. To constantly bash and second guess decisions that are made is unnecessary and also disrepectful to those who put the thought and time into making them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Then I think it's about time you made an Rules forum and put them all into it. Not just the one that you guys made awhile ago, but all the unwritten rules you guys have. 1. Don't use the word gay. 2. Don't question our authority. 3. Don't call anyone names. 4. Don't be an annoying jackass. 1, 2 and 4 are written nowhere on this site. I suggest you write it down so no one makes the mistake again. How are they supposed to know that the word gay is wrong when people are flipping each other off with smilies and using the word f***? Then they post it and a bunch of people freak out on him.- What happen to the post???
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Recapping, we are complaining that there's a debate? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uh... no...- What happen to the post???
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) Ach, it's not a new term when used to mean stupid. It was used that way when I was in HW wwwaaaayyy back in the caveman days of the 80s. But the fact that that is one common use for a term IN NO WAY means that it has to be condoned or allowed here if the 'official' decision is that the board is better off without that or similar denegrating language being used. There's a gajillion porn sites out there but it doesn't mean that this site is going to allow the posting of similar graphic content, and this is the same thing. There are all kinds of forums in which anyone who wants to can converse that way, or any other way they choose. The high school halls still seem to work, so keep it there and rise above it here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not particularly mad about the word gay not being allowed here. It's how when someone uses the word gay, everyone freaks out like he just said "OSAMA BIN LADEN IS BOSS". If some new guy slips, who gives a f***? But no, there's always the guy who'll say "You know, that word isn't allowed here" and then everyone flips out and then another huge debate on the word gay happens.- What happen to the post???
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) Actually i'm 23 years old. I also disagree with you. When I was in high school I never used gay to call someone stupid. I used stupid to call someone stupid. The rule is no personal attacks. Gay applies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now what made me think you were a teenager??? For the record, I have NEVER seen anyone call another poster gay on this site. I've seen people call other things gay, but not as a personal attack. Gay is a new term. It came along like 4 or 5 years ago.- What happen to the post???
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) It's the point that it's a sign of disrespect. I mean do you really have to do it. Just let it go. It's a rule. FOLLOW IT! Your lucky your allowed to post here at all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's only one rule on this site, and it mentions nothing of the word gay. If you're going to have all these unwritten rules, WRITE THEM DOWN for godsakes. Jeckle, you're a kid, you know this. Gay is in this day and age, a COMMON term for something that is stupid. Adults can go on all they want about "you dumb kids need to let your vocabulary grow". GAY grows on you. So many f***ing people use it that you eventually start calling things gay.- What happen to the post???
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) It's quite another thing to just go and insult someone. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, but I'm sick of all this protecting gay people. There's only one f***ing gay person on the board, and he doesn't even care (or so it seems). He's never the one saying "Guys quit using that word please", it's the admins. I don't know why there's so much protection for it, he's probably heard every gay joke in the world, some guy calling a football player gay on a message board isn't gonna make him freak out. - Division Champs?
