Is Maryland really a notably better job than UConn? -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) TJ surgery is usually 8-9 months of rehab. If he had the surgery 2 months ago say, October he should pitch again toward the end of this season to get his arm going again and get ready for 2012. Good point. He probably would have himself in respectable shape for the start of short season in late June.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 07:32 PM) At least in my opinion, TCU and Boise State are totally different situations for two reasons (Yes, I know Boise beat TCU last year. s*** happens) : 1) TCU doesn't spend like a little guy. Their football spending was over $20 mil last season, good for 11th in the country. Boise State, by comparison, spent only $6.85 mil. 2) TCU gets a lot of very good athletes from Texas and convinces them to play defense. Boise doesn't have the same kind of recruiting foothold. I agree, especially about the talent in Texas point. TCU can recruit almost by default. Of course, with Dalton gone it will be interesting how good they are when they actually join the Big East. How often in history has TCU been able to say they were the best team in the state of Texas? -
Link? I searched everywhere and couldn't find anything.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) Parseghian was 36-31 at NW before coming to ND. Devine was a losing NFL coach Faust was in HS Holtz was 10-12 at Min before coming to ND. Davie was a coordinator Willingham was 44-36-1 - mediocre Weis was a coordinator in the NFL I guess Willingham was over .500, but barely. So 36-31 is better than 44-36? Holtz was 31-11-2 at NC State and 60-21-2 at Arkansas. Also, Devine was 27-3-1 at ASU and 92-38-7 at Mizzou. To complain he was a losing NFL coach is like saying a college program wouldn't double over to hire Pete Carroll right now. -

Texas Tech just tried an onside kick up 21 late in the 3rd quarter. Didn't work. Well played Tuberville. Too bad it won't matter. -

Compare ND's academics to Florida, Texas or USC. Those are all very good schools. Michigan too. It's not that rare. -

Yeah Notre Dame crying they have a disadvantage? That's ripe. It's typical ND too. We only struggle because our school is too good to get any player we want! Wahhhhh -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) Those would be some neat matchups. Kansas - Ohio State would be a lot of fun to watch, as well as Baylor - Purdue if Baylor cared enough to show up. Mizzou/Michigan State would be a blast, and Iowa State and Northwestern would be of interest to no one outside of Ames and Evanston. That sure looks better than the Big 12 Pac 10 yawn fest. Getting stuck with Oregon two years in a row is lame. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) Big road win for Iowa State at Virginia, 60-47. Hard not to like this group of guys. According to KenPom, the Big 12 is absolutely f'ing loaded. Only 2 teams outside top 100, rest are in top 75. Six teams in the top 50 with Iowa State on the bubble (Nebraska is in the top 50? WTF). Gonna be a fun and painful conference season. -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Ha, okay... That ending was bulls*** and you know it. Lucky f***ing rule saved your asses. NCAA needs a run-off on penalties like that. No excuse for there not to be. Oh, and on that long reception at the end, that was clearly not a helmet to helmet hit. It was a correct PF, but I don't think that was a catch. Tennessee is the unluckiest team. When the ref says 'the game is over' and you lose, wow. Also, woo Big 12. Though, I gotta say I loved Nebraska losing, the conference is stinking it up against inferior competition. If ever there was a game that proved how BS bowl games are it's the Holiday Bowl. Nebraska clearly was better and f***ed Washington in Washington this year and lost in the bowl. Bowl games are exhibitions. Don't evaluate teams on them. -

I just want it noted that I'd take 40% from 3 every game. That's above average for sure. -

Man, Mizzou is sure getting hated on for a team that won 10 games. All they did was lose an exhibition last night. It's not like it was a meaningful bowl. It shouldn't drastically change the opinion of the team. Top 20. Any team from 10-20 is more or less the same this year. -

It was an absolute gift of a game either way. It's pathetic that Iowa was even close enough to win by the benefit of 2 or 3 calls and bounces. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 12:10 AM) That was the definition of inconclusive evidence on that call. I can't believe it was overturned. Yeah how do you look at it for two and a half minutes and say it was conclusive? It's whatever, if Gabbert doesn't make that dumb throw they win by two scores. Of course, there was also a hold on the pick six. So many ways Mizzou should have won. They are so much better than Iowa, oh well. That goes in the category of 'only Mizzou loses a game like that.' -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) Anyone know if Crean is getting much heat for a terrible year 3? They haven't resembled a competitive team in a LONG time. Even with the Sampson stuff, you'd think they'd be a little better than they are. I believe I asked the same thing a bit ago and the answer is 'recruiting.' I think IU is dropping the ball here. Maybe they realized their time as a top tier program is long since over. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) According to the Eastern Iowa media, tomorrow nights Mizzou-Iowa matchup is really one for the ages, it's just hidden in Arizona. I hope I don't eat my words on this one, but I really don't see how the line is so small. 2.5 points for a 7-5 team that lost to Minnesota and is without it's top WR and RB? Excuse me? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Between his attitude and his lack of perimeter shooting, that's why his ranking dropped from top 10 after his soph year to the 25-40 range by the time he graduated. He's more of an all-around player who will likely never average more than 10-11 ppg in college. Wow really? I'm not necessarily going to argue, but that would basically mean he barely improves in his time in college. Of course, he could go pro early and then you might be right. -

I figured recruiting was the answer, but in his third year on the job you would expect an Indiana coach to have made the tournament. I understand he started with nothing, but he now has 3 years of players. My point about Calipari was that he only needed one year of players. I feel like recruiting isn't a good enough answer though. Having these players is great, but if Crean can't field a decent team by the third year I have serious questions about him.
