  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 10:43 AM) 12 now. I say $100 for first, $20 for 2nd. That's good. 2nd should profit.
  2. I hope people are sending transfers for the pay pool. I sent my ten.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) I disagree on Colligan - I think his ceiling is much higher than the others you mentioned. His problem has been work ethic and putting his talents to use, from everything I have read. I'm surprised about the work ethic considering the guy is built like a football player. I saw him in college and he had the biggest arms of anyone I'd seen in any college game.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) People hate Dukies, moreso than anything else, for being elitist snobs. Hill writing a piece like that in that form will do nothing to help that. Everybody seems to be jumping on Grant Hill's back here, but doesn't Jalen Rose get credit for being succesful too? And he wasn't exactly born into circumstances that anybody could do well in like Grant Hill was. I think both sides have a point in this debate. Being black and two parents and getting an education like Grant Hill is not a bad thing at all. But the success Jalen Rose has had coming from tougher circumstances can't be ignored either, and the fact is a LOT of people (black and white) feel the way about Duke that Jalen Rose did/does. Rose doesn't have a point at all. Just because Hill was given more than Rose had Hill is automatically a b**** for taking advantage of what he had? What is Hill supposed to do? Sit around at home and wallow in his parents' money? Jalen Rose came off as a total prick in that documentary. There's a reason why he was the most used interview. He was a controversial asshole the entire time.
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 09:57 PM) Um, they aren't play-in games. They are the first round. Think of it more like 60 teams are getting byes. Shut up, that's stupid. Look at the crowd for UAB Clemson and tell me that's a real tournament game. You can't.
  6. If we can't get more we could open it up to non-soxtalkers just to have a solid pool.
  7. White Sox System Breakdown: Outfielders Thompson and Mitchell are the two most intriguing storylines for the Sox minors this year, but who of the A ball outfielders do you guys think can break out? I have a feeling one of Ciolli, Shoemaker and Colligan will take a step forward, but I can't pick who.
  8. So how are we supposed to do the transfer (assuming we get enough people to do it)?
  9. White Sox System Breakdown: Infielders Gordon Beckham was a gem for the White Sox infield. He rushed through the minors and made an impact with the big league team not long after being drafted. Once Beckham graduated to the bigs the minor league system has lacked depth around the horn. Brent Morel and Dayan Viciedo (if the outfield experiment doesn't work out) are good talents at the top, but there are also some interesting names in the lower minors that could add that depth. Who else is worth getting excited about? ------ Who does everyone like among our younger infield prospects? Escobar is an easy pick, but what about the recent draft picks?
  10. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) NU with a home game. Now how the heck do they distribute tickets? I would have gone, but I'm working Wednesday night. Glad they're finally getting a home game though. It's been a while.
  11. Anybody hear any buzz on Homefront? For some reason the story pulled me in, but I'm not about to drop $60 without reading a review.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) Every single bracketologist has them in. Usually as a 10 or 11. But if Dayton wins the A-10, Boise wins the WAC or Penn State wins today, Illinois could be looking at one of the play in games.

    The Gathering 2011

Let's do a bar thing for the west coast trip in May (6th-15th). Have a gathering and watch a game at the same time.
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Wow, ND looks better every new game than they did the game before. The tough thing with them is that I think they can lose to just about anybody if they have a bad shooting game. It's hard to rely on shooters so much.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) I really hope people are watching the Jimmer show. Is that on anywhere? I don't even see it listed on ESPN3.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) And the only possible scenario that could keep Illinois out of the tourney might be happening. Lose today, MSU beat Purdue so MSU, Illinois and Michigan are all close (and I think all 3 get in). PSU currently housing Wisconsin (albeit a lot of time left). IF PSU was to win today and tomorrow it is possible that Illinois is the Big 10 team that gets left out (although any of those 4 could get left out or all 4 could get in). And the A-10 might be taking a bubble spot away.
  17. I'm also expecting big things out of Trayce. I think Wilkins doing well wouldn't be a shock. I think all of our catching prospects will have bad years (with Blanke probably being simply average).
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 05:36 PM) You shall not take his name in vain. For as useless as he was in the NBA, the level of dominance he displayed in Ames was sickening. Unfortunately for the Bulls I think his amazing tourney jumped him at least 10 spots in the draft. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) We strongly strongly disagree then. 7 of the 10 in last year's class have all-star potential. 5 of them have superstar potential. I want what you got because I don't see 7 all stars in that list. I don't see 4 in that list.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 04:10 PM) It's not his height, it's the size of his ass. He also has a good midrange game he hasn't shown in college. He's also a very good rebounder. He'll be a good PF in the NBA but not a star. Could be a 20-10 type of guy at his peak Elton Brand-esque. Consequently Brands draft was about as weak as this one will be. Sullinger's ass isn't going to be as effective in the league though. Brand stat wise is a fair comp, but I think Brand's a step quicker. I remember him using that step and athleticism to get points when he was with the Bulls. Sullinger is athletic for his size, but that extra step he doesn't have could be a difference. I see him as more of a solid NBA player than a top 5 caliber pick. Sullinger probably could use another year in college, I bet he would get picked higher if he showed off more moves and range. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Sean May. Good comp, but scouts like Sullinger a lot better than they ever liked May so we must be missing something.
  20. I got crushed for this last time and he had a fantastic game so I'll probably get crushed again, but which of Sullinger's skills translate to the pros? I see most of his college dominance coming from a size advantage. What does he do that will still work against NBA bigs?
  21. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) Maybe, but I think we all know Illinois is not actually a tournament quality team. And I am not sure they will make it in. Using ESPN's bubble watch as a guide, there's like 10 spots for 14 bubble teams (unless I miscounted). I can easily come up with 10 bubble teams I'd take over Illinois: Utah St, UAB, Georgia, BC, Saint Mary's, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Colorado, Nebraska, Alabama I agree that losing to Michigan could make it interesting if enough auto bids get snatched by teams that wouldn't be in, but Nebraska? That's a major reach after they lost to Oklahoma State. I was thinking how sure I was going to have Mizzou lose in the first round to whatever 7-10 seed they play and then I looked at bracketology for those seeds. Holy hell those teams are bad.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) BTW, Colorado punched their ticket today. The bubble sure is brutal this year.
  23. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 04:12 PM) Just saw the highlights of this... That's as bad of a loss as you'll see. Yep. Absolute disgrace. I don't think I've ever seen something so pathetic. Every chance to fail in the last minute they did. The worst case scenario was every play. Unreal.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) Speaking of compliance, how does every school get away with giving every player a set of 300 dollar headphones I don't know if the school has to be the ones giving them, but I know the players get gifts for making it to certain tourneys. The Preseason NIT and CBE final fours for example. Maybe others too, but I know those for sure. It's similar to bowl packages. I'd also join the pay bracket.
  25. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) He will fit in well at Northwestern then. LOL what?
