  1. Given Homefront's mediocre reviews and my view of the Crysis 2 demo I'm gonna be picking up Crysis 2 in the next couple days. Fantastic looking game with a cool (albeit Halo like) story. I can't help it, I love my sci-fi action games.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) Notre Dame losing was due to a series of cold shooting games. I believe they came about because the starters got major fatigue at the end of the year due to Brey's unwillingness to play his bench during the season. The team only went 7 deep and the starting 5 averaged 30 minutes a game. That's what happens with a jump shooting team though. Not going to make the Final Four when your best players are shooters. A bad game is bound to happen.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) Also, looks like Mike Anderson played the system perfectly. Let the information get out that you may leave for Arkansas, freak out your current school who likes you in Mizzou, get more years and more paper on your deal at said school. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/article_285...127992bc8b.html Mizzou is stupid for this extension. He was never going to go to Arkansas. Rumors should at least make sense before people start to believe them. The thing that pisses me off is that he got an extension last year and his team underachieved this year. I mean, it's the game you play, but it's BS.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) An officials job is always to make judgment calls. With all of the contact and offenses that take place on a floor, you realistically couldn't go five seconds without calling a foul if you really went by the letter of the law. Lean a little on a screen? Technically that is an offensive foul. Get too much of your hand on the ball? Traveling. Knock into a screener? Foul. Take a shot after the whistle blows? Delay of game. Argue with an official? Technical foul. Go past the coaches line? Technical. If there weren't judgments made every second of a basketball game, the game itself would never get played. That's fine, but if you make the calls there's no argument against that. People are going to complain about a late call either way. If it's a clear foul and they call the foul the only person you can blame is the player committing the foul. I'd rather blame players for doing something stupid than the refs. This seems like a no brainer to me.
  5. The refs shouldn't be put in the situation to make judgment calls. A foul is a foul is a foul. Don't like it? Tell the player not to foul. It's much simpler that way.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) How in the hell is Tyrel Reed a starting guard in D1...and for Kansas? Outside of Morris twins and Taylor, Kansas played awful tonight. There aren't many teams that can both defend and outrebound the Morris twins. They also have enough shooters that one of them is bound to be hot. That said, I agree they are beatable. They're just a tough matchup for so much of the country. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) Well I was right about ND losing, just got the team they'd lose to wrong, ha. You and I both. It's painful being able to say I told you Notre Dame sucked, but then not getting credit in my bracket for it.
  7. So it turns out all those teams beating each other up DID mean they were all mediocre and that conference wasn't actually deep.
  8. Ok I'm gonna pull rank here and tell everyone to end this conversation. This is a pointless argument. We'll have more than enough Illinois talk for the actual game tomorrow so drop this one please. If you absolutely have to argue with someone over the internet then PM each other.
  9. Is Ben Gordon's career a bad one? He succeeded enough to earn a pay day contract.
  10. I'm sticking with my guns saying it's BS. Wishful thinking absolutely, but I gave what I think is solid reasoning against it happening.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 07:05 PM) I really couldn't care less about the seeds, that's not what I was talking about. To say they're both "terrible" teams is crazy talk. Low major, mid major or high major, ODU and Butler are both very good basketball teams. Ehh, whatever. From reading your other posts over the years we have very different definitions of very good.
  12. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) RPI is a joke. "Really Poor Indictator" Anyone that knows anything about college basketball will tell you this. Ok whatever, but I also think calling a team that went 9-9 in conference with a loss to UIC underrated is a joke. They are where they should be. Their talent can take them further, but talent has not been the problem.
  13. I wouldn't mind shrinking the league. That could liven things up a bit for the draft.
  14. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) I keep hearing Mike Anderson to Arkansas. Dan, any word? I'm hearing rumors as well, but nothing concrete. The current buzz is about Otto Porter possibly committing so I don't think it's as close as you may think if you're asking. The rumors don't really make sense to me considering Nolan Richardson left Arkansas on terrible terms and still seems to hold a grudge. Considering Anderson was a long time assistant under Nolan and Nolan has been at numerous Mizzou games since Anderson became the coach, I don't see Anderson going against Richardson's loyalty.
  15. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) As much as I've ragged on Illinois this year, they are extremely underrated. I'll bet that hardly anyone realizes that Pomeroy has them at 16th in the country and Sagarin has them at 19th. That's absurd. The team went 9-9 in conference and lost to UIC. They may have talent, but their RPI sits at 48 which is a more accurate assessment of what the team actually achieved instead of how good or bad they looked doing it.
  16. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 11:47 PM) Well, they won't do it against Kansas but I think they beat a good team tonight and did so handily. And they punished the UNLV pressure which I absolutely didn't think would happen. The last 5 minutes I think they were clearly tired and had a big lead. It was still their best game of the year. With all their struggles Illinois is still much better than UNLV. Illinois didn't need to bring their A game to beat this team, they needed their A game to smoke this team, which they did. Kansas is a whole different story. Unless Illinois gets career days from their bigs, the Morris twins will dominate. It's a well put together team.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 10:25 PM) So I thought the Big 10 sucked and should only get 4 teams in? 5 and 2 in the first round (I refuse to acknowledge the new "first round") and the 2 losses were by a combine 4 points. I thought the same thing about the Big Ten going in, but then I saw the bracket. 5-2 is probably about where they should have been. The 3 favorites won and the 4 7-10 seeds went 2-2. Nothing spectacular there.
  18. WTF A&M? That was an absolutely piss poor job on the offensive end in the last 5 minutes. I thought the Aggies had a shot to beat ND. Not so sure FSU has the same shot.
  19. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) That was a hell of a finish to GMU/Nova Yeah. Nova gifted the comeback by missing the front end of 1 and 1s, but I was waiting for a serious Gus explosion if Nova sent it to OT.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) That's silly. Sorry to bash your beloved mid-major teams, but ODU and Butler were both very mediocre this year. ODU had 4 good wins with 2-3 bad losses. Butler went 15-5 in an ok Horizon League and their only win over a tourney team is Florida State. I guess in Butler's case it's fair that they got a higher seed after getting screwed in the past, but that's not an 8 seed resume to me.
  21. I think it's been a few more than that, but TV is easier and better than online.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) Ky getting favorable calls fueling their comeback Maybe, but Princeton is as unathletic of a tourney team as I think I've ever seen. Kentucky should still win by double digits.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) It was all ball and a great no call. Yeah he got all ball and also all elbow. Destroyed the guy. It was a foul.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) I call do over on brackets. Nobody told me Old Dominion couldn't score. Both of those teams are terrible. For that to be an 8-9 game is a joke.
  25. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 02:56 PM) What a win for Morehead State! Brutal no call. I hate it when the refs let stuff go in the final seconds.
