QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) Thoughts? Probably your most ambitious effort. I like that it's very different from the last one. After a month of having it as the background you stop noticing it. Having something drastically different from the last keeps it fresh.

QUOTE (OilCan @ May 1, 2011 -> 07:26 PM) So I take it he's starting the year in Bristol?? http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=544838 I doubt that's 100% settled, but it's very likely he'll start with one of the rookie affiliates.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) So why does every hate Nebraska so much? I'm assuming there's more to it than just hating conference rivals. Hahaha. Go there and find out. I'm sure we'll be hearing from the Big Ten fans here within a few years with experiences to share. Before I get into the bitterness, their passion for football (and most other sports not named basketball) is spectacular and the stadium is impressive for its size alone. It's a trip worth making just to check it out (though I was more blown away by OU) and Lincoln is a fairly large town with a nice downtown. You don't feel like you're in the sticks other than the residents. The problem is that they will let you know that they are the most passionate fans when really they're just among a somewhat large group of big schools with dedicated fan bases and they get violent when they lose. The self-proclaimed classiest fans in America (or whatever they call themselves) are no different from any other. I remember going there in 2008 when Mizzou's NFL-talent filled offense whipped their defense back when it was one of the worst in the country and the stadium was half empty in the third quarter. I remember getting constantly harassed by Husker fans after the game when we went to get some late night food downtown. I liken them to Notre Dame without the religion (I'm not saying that's better or worse, just different). -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) Nebraska kicked out of the AAU today, showing that the N really does stand for knowledge. Well played. We can finally put to rest the notion that academics played any part at all in the Big Ten thing. It was, and always was, 100% about football and having a championship game. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Already changed the old debit card. I felt like my dad circa 1992 going to get money for the weekend today. Yeah I saw that news today and ordered a new card immediately. I'll probably stick to prepaid cards for PSN from now on as well.

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) Mallett's a raw talent, but why draft him? They don't need a QB. Because that's how they want to develop QBs. Think Aaron Rodgers, or before him, Tom Brady. It's a great pick because he has Pro Bowl talent at the most important position and they got him in the 3rd round. -
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Drew Lee is absolutely beasting in Kanny. Yes it's a small sample size, but I'd like to see him face more age appropriate competition. He has his 3rd HR of the season tonight. I didn't realize he was 23. Can always use some extra middle infield depth. Peavy's rehabbing for Charlotte. Box score

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) I know what the results look like so far, but it seems strange for a kid that was being written into Chicago's pen by many, to end up down in AA. It makes me wonder if the brass saw something they didn't like. It is a pretty unusual move by the Sox honestly. It's strange, but I don't think it's strange enough to raise concerns about Infante. It's not as if he had been with Charlotte and then moved him back down to AA. He's never pitched in AAA.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:19 PM) You might want to look up Matt Ryan's college numbers. He was the ACC player of the year in 2007. Freeman got benched his last year at K State. Freeman was an atrocious college QB. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) Brees,Ryan,Freeman,Newton. Which one doesnt belong? The only one that couldn't hack it in college, Freeman. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) That'd be one terrible baseball team. In fairness a Major League team has players from more than 10 years in the draft as well as foreign signings, so it's unfair to expect a competitive Major League team. If you include all active players you get Jon Rauch, Matt Guerrier, Aaron Rowand and Mark Buehrle. That becomes a pretty solid pitching staff and Rowand fills out the outfield nicely. Still lacking with the lineup though.

White Sox All-Draft Pick Team A 25-man roster from the last ten Sox drafts. Thoughts?
-
Knights lost 8-5 Viciedo with his second HR in as many games. Danks with a bomb. That's two games in a row with two hits, a walk and no strikeouts. Turn it around Jordan. Dash lost 4-2 Martinez 2-4, HR. Time to promote this guy already. Wilkins also with a dinger. Barons and I's postponed.

Messi saves the Champs League semi with a pair of goals, the second of which was absolutely mind blowing.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) LOL, your link to the Kanny game is actually a link to Thompson's profile. Ha touche. I can't contain my excitement about him haha.

Now it's completely like the gold medal game. Why did Olczyk have to mention that on air? The late equalizer and the OT loss. Damn
-
Charlotte lost 8-5 Viciedo with a HR and Danks with a good day. Barons lost 7-3 Leesman 6 IP, 0 R, 8 K, 0 BB, 3 H Dash won 3-2 Rienzo with a decent start. Martinez stays hot with two more hits. Kannapolis won 13-6 Thompson 3-4, HR. Drew Lee stayed hot too.
-
When I saw the score I decided to watch the 9th instead of the Bulls for a minute (must be a glutton for punishment). That was a heck of a wave and was the second time all year I've actually gotten into a game. Well done Lillibridge.

Knights lost 4-3 Harrell started Barons @ Huntsville Edwards start Marrero with a couple of hits and Kuhn with a HR. Frederick @ Dash Martinez with a couple of hits and Wilkins with a HR. Intimidators @ Lexington Drew Lee 3-4 with a HR, hitting .714 for Kanny ha. Thompson 2-5, 2B, K.

If you haven't followed the minors yet this season, this is for you. The best and worst of the first couple weeks. Make judgments at your own peril. FutureSox link Also, I wrote a piece about Trayce Thompson about a week ago. I didn't post it here so if you missed it click here.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) Thanks to you guys who contribute to the minor league games. I look forward to Future Sox posts. Hopefully you also follow the FS twitter. We have daily box score highlights and try to pass along good links and point out hot and cold streaks. Stuff like that. Not all of it makes it here. It's nice to bury your head in the minors when the Major League team is struggling.
