QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 24, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) They're better. And they're going to be better for some time. That's been obvious since the day they signed with the Heat. Just because they had a slow start to the season doesn't mean they aren't the favorite in every game they play.
-
Sammy Sosa seen cheering for the Heat. Some icon he is.
-
Guess that means we get a rerun of the 2006 Finals. Bet it plays out the same too.
-
Rienzo with one of his best start of the year: 6 IP, R, 8 K, BB, 5 H. Upchurch responds to moving to the rotation with his worst outing of the year. Damn
-
Agree on Kljestan, but I don't think he's too important. I think Diskerud and Bedoya both were left off because they are in season and Bradley seems to try to avoid club conflicts as much as possible. Torres didn't have a great season so I think that's why he didn't make it. It's an in-form side, or at least relatively so. Hopefully guys like Bradley and Altidore can have a good tournament. They need it.

QUOTE (NHDadUmp-RI @ May 23, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Per the Saturday Barons audio broadcast, Gilmore went back on the DL for a "knee problem". Thanks for the info. Glad he has two injuries to deal with now...

It bothers me that most of the tennis discussion on here is because a Serbian is doing well and not actual tennis discussion.

2011-2012 NCAA Basketball Thread
danman31 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Northern Illinois got Niles North star Abdel Nader to commit. I saw Nader play a few times and even talked to him once. He's a tall and extremely athletic player that looked like Lebron in the NBA against these high schoolers. He was bigger, stronger, faster and could jump higher. He's not going to dominate as a freshman, but he took Niles North to a sectional final. I think that says enough about how big of a coup this guy is for NIU. -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 22, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) How long before Wes Whisler gets the ax? If he can't get guys out in A ball, then he surely can't handle AAA. A 28 year old pitcher in High A with a 67.00 ERA is not good. Give him a break, he just came off the DL. Maybe he's still hurt. His assignment to the Dash was basically rehab anyway.

Damn beat me by a few minutes. Mitchell back in the lineup, already with 2 hits.
-
Thompson responded well to moving to third in the order. 3 hits and a HR so far. Kanny going nuts on Delmarva.
-
Brandon Short is on a 13-game hit streak. Rebounding from a slow start.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) Wait, this is Terry Doyle's father? How cool! Can't wait to finally have a starting pitcher to follow in B'Ham! lol, AA was so barren w/ anything good on the starting pitching end. Axelrod and Leesman don't do it for ya? I'd say they're on par with Doyle and Leesman probably ahead simply because he's a lefty.
-
Heh. That was definitely Harrell's start. Harrell got 5.1 innings, Infante 1.2. They just combined the two. It got messed with.
-
Toledo @ Knights HRs from Viciedo (6), Escobar (3) and Restovich (2) Barons @ Jacksonville 3 hits from Kuhn and Short, who has a 12-game hit streak. Griffith rocked again Dash lost 3-1 Santiago complete game Kanny won 6-1 Buch 5 IP, R, 3 K, 4 BB, 2 H
-
QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) Zaleski, but mostly due to age. He's 29 and spent all of last year in Charlotte's rotation. He's a solid pitcher for the high minors. What about Axelrod? Have you seen him this year? He's got good control from the numbers.
-
Toledo @ Knights Montgomery @ Barons Leesman 6 scoreless innings Remenowsky rocked Dash won game 1 6-3 Martinez HR, Gac 2 HR Rienzo 6 IP, R, 6 K, 6 BB, 2 H Pelicans @ Dash game 2 Kanny lost 4-3 Thompson, Blanke 2 hits Wilson 4 hits

6 walks in 55 May ABs for Viciedo. It's almost not worth joking about anymore. Almost.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 16, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) Blanke 2-4, 2B I'd like to see him and Petricka in W-S in the near future. Agreed. There's a few guys that should be pushed to see if they can handle it. The first major promotions (for guys who aren't relievers) should be coming soon. Hopefully we don't have to wait until the first half of the season is over for all of them.
-
It's a clever way to get more people interested in some of their exclusive franchises. Infamous 2 comes out in June so the timing couldn't be better. Give away the first one to get people interested in the second one.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) I just had a Mike Ditka flashback. I did too. Fair comparison too. Ricky Williams was a damn good running back, but worth all that? Ehh. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) And when Strasburg, health permitting, is racking up CY after CY you'll change your tune. That dude is special. If he gets hurt, so be it. That's the ONLY thing that can stop him. Impossible. The dude better win 5 of them to even give you an argument and I'll bet he doesn't.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) I would trade the entire White Sox franchise for Strasburg. Mmmk. Good thing you don't have a job in baseball.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) We should just make a Bryce Harper thread. He was 2/4 with a HR yesterday. The Nationals picked the right years to f***ing suck. Strasburg just had TJS. I wouldn't put him in that category yet.

Christian Marrero is the new David Cook.
