  1. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) 5 BB/0 SO for Leesman through 4 innings. Ugly. At least he's getting ground balls (7 GO/2 AO). Yeesh, his K/BB numbers in his two starts almost look like a mistake. 1 K/8 BB with an ERA under 2.5? Go figure. I guess that Dash defense is good enough to help make that possible. Obviously, the ground balls are big. Really wonder what happened to Leesman's control though. Jon Gilmore is rocking a .500 BABIP.
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) As a high draft pick the Sox might push him by starting him at Kannapolis next season, but those numbers may force them to take it really slow with him. Suck it Phil Rogers. Thompson to Kanny only a week into the season. Link Odds are still pretty good that he goes to Great Falls once their season starts up. I forgot to post this link earlier, but a good update with video on Trayce. This guy seems to really like him.
  3. Title and FutureSox posted updated for Phil Negus and Trayce Thompson moving up to Kannapolis.
  4. Bellamy to Dash, Hunt to DL Everyone has been calling Kyle Bellamy a possible fast mover through the system. It came as a bit of a surprise when the reliever started the year in Low-A Kannapolis, but after just four appearances with the Intimidators he has been promoted to High-A Winston-Salem. more... Also new today is Josh Phegley's injury. Here's NSS' story on that.
  5. Quite a few hot starts for Winston-Salem. 6 regular starters hitting over .300 (Phegley not one of them). Brandon Short is hitting .333 with an OPS over 1. He's not walking much, but only has 4 K which is great. He's a really good athlete. It's good to see him progressing. Even Gilmore and Greene are hitting, but Gilmore has 3 errors at 3rd already.
  6. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 01:01 AM) Luol Deng has a solid season, making up for the loss of Ben Gordon and the Bulls finish around .500 to get in the playoffs. I was pretty close. Deng had his best season statistically in a few years, though he missed 13 games due to injury.
  7. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 03:36 AM) This is the run home. If Arsenal can get a result at Tottenham, they'll end up winning IMO. See ya. Arsenal only played well for about 15 minutes in this one. They just aren't as good as the top 2 this year. Still like Man City to grab 4th though.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) I want to see his strikeout numbers going down. Like Ace said, his K rate wasn't a problem last year. I wouldn't expect it to be this year.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 01:05 PM) Didn't see that - where did you pick that up? Press release from the Dash.
  10. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) Nice line from Collop: 5 IP, 12 H, 11 R, 9 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO. He'll have some good success pitching like that. You know, coming from anyone else I'd know they were kidding, but with you I think you mean that. Ignore hits and runs while focusing on strikeouts and walks, right? I'm not arguing, just find it funny in this context.
  11. Gonzalez has now thrown out 4 out of 7 would-be base stealers. Boom.
  12. Our relief prospects blowing up today. Nunez and Jones did it as starters. Santeliz doing it now for the Knights. I gotta say, I'm not a big fan of Santeliz. I didn't have him in my preseason top 25. His ERA was great last year, but ERA is so meaningless for relievers. He's got major control issues to fix.
  13. I's lose 4-0. Buch IP, 2 K, H. The Braves seemed determined to run. Gonzalez threw 2 out of 5 would-be base stealers, had a pickoff and Serafin had a pickoff of his own. Good stuff from Miguel.
  14. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) The lack of (easily found) box scores on MiLB.com this year sucks. I hope they get that sorted out quickly. I know, I don't know what that's about. You must have jinxed it. The Kanny box just went live.
  15. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) Miguel Gonzalez with a hit against Teheran in his first AB. Silverio DHing. I was listening online (link here) and the announcer made it sound like it should have been an error, but we'll take it.
  16. Knights @ Gwinnett 6:05 Torres Carolina @ Barons 7:05 Nunez Dash @ Kinston 6 Nate Jones vs. Hagadone Rome @ Intimidators 5:05 Serafin vs. Teheran Rome @ Intimidators Game 2 Doyle
  17. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) I'm with Rock. This Illinois love is ridiculous. Are Davis and Tisdale all the sudden going to realize they need to bring it every night and be consistent? Is Mccamey going to lose the attitude? And Sullinger not a stud? Gimme a break, hes a top 5 pick next year. Yeah, let them think what they want. Illinois was also supposed to be much improved and loaded with talent this year.
  18. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:23 AM) Last year at Busch stadium, my ipod touch could not pick up any networks. I noticed Busch is a black hole of sorts for 3G as well. Cell service was going in and out.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:03 AM) Why did Hudson not start the AAA season for Charlotte? Late game scratch? I figured our #1 pitching prospect would be the #1 guy in the rotation. I assume the Sox want him lining up with Garcia.
  20. Escobar 4-5, yesssss. That Dash defense should be very good. Very athletic outfield (Short, Greene, Williams) and the middle infielders (Escobar and Garcia) are supposed to be very good.
  21. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Holy Moly. A good reason why 'Nova didn't meet expectations: Deadspin says it was a hoax.
  22. Yeah, Vispoli e-mailed us and we've been in touch somewhat. Good to hear your son is doing better.
  23. Kanny preview from the Independent Tribune
  24. Here his FutureSox profile. Gonzalez will start the year in Kannapolis.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) I think there's a major difference. Illinois' team did mesh, they just didn't play well in a lot of games, and they relied on some pretty average to below average players (including freshman). Those average players will be replaced by 5 star recruits (Richmond and Leonard in particular, who are every bit as good as the other top 50 incoming freshman), whereas UNC was just downright awful for the entire season despite having highly rated players. I totally expect UNC to be back next year, but i dunno about elite level. I think you're overstating the difference between UNC and Illinois this year. They weren't that far apart. The ACC is deeper top to bottom and UNC still had some good wins during the course of the year (OSU, MSU, @ Wake). Also, Illinois' team chemistry was just awful. McCamey b****ed and moaned, he wasn't the only one I saw do that. When multiple players are talking back to the coach in big games you can easily argue the team didn't 'mesh.'
