  1. We should start giving Anthony Carter some serious hype. JPN said he hit 98 recently and he has been flat out dominating. His last 12 outings: 16 IP, 0 R, 16 K, BB, 5 H.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) I'll shut up as far as "safe" goes for now. But we still need to devote more money to the draft. Right, the safe myth is busted. However, it's hard to go really high upside without a bigger draft budget.
  3. FutureSox story Holy hell White Sox. Well done!
  4. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) I think it's Chris Sale if he's still there. I would like it too. I know, that's what I'm rooting for. A lot of pleasant options.
  5. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) Callis now has him slipping to the Cardinals. Mayo too. Something freaky going on there.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) Prediction: Grandal Who I want: O'Conner If Grandal slips to the Sox that would be spectacular, but I really doubt that happens.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) Let's just hope whoever we draft doesn't get interviewed by Hawk and Stone and say that he loves to backdoor guys. Ha I remember that quote too. Typical
  8. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 06:10 PM) IsoP is the better measure of power. Home runs are just home runs. Neither is exactly slugging it up but Escobar does have the edge at .099 to Gilmore's .080. Gilmore's ISO for a 3B is absolutely pathetic. Exactly. My statement is more a slam on Gilmore than a compliment to Escobar.
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) Greene with another great day. Promote the damn man! His OPS on the road is .746. He's not doing that well. Escobar, meanwhile, is on fire. He's also hitting for more power than Gilmore and I'm going to keep bringing that up.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) 9 hits in 6 innings, giving up 7 runs to an offense that was really struggling according to ESPNU. In fairness, 3 of the runs were inherited.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) Wojo got roughed up by USC. Hopefully that gets us looking elsewhere. 11 K to 1 BB is roughed up?
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Glad to see Remenowsky getting back to form: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K. He had 3 or 4 bad outings in a row, which I don't think he's ever had. He also allowed 3 stolen bases.
  13. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) Buddle looked very good while Findley came back to reality. Dont know why the Dempsey goal was taken away but Findley should have finished that ball prior. Findley really blew two easy chances. We should have scored atleast 4 goals today. Findley was good at positioning himself and setting up others, but his finishing was dreadful. Missed 2 sitters. Gomez screwed up a 2 on 0. They really should have scored more. 1st half was spectacular for the US, but they were only up a goal. 2nd half was Australia on the attack with US countering and they won that half by a goal. Weird game sometimes, but overall a very good performance.
  14. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 06:54 PM) Workman only working 88-90 in the 2nd. Command was a little off too as he was missing up. Did get a strikeout on a good slow curve though and froze another batter with a harder curve. Had a couple of nice cutters in there as well. I missed the first 3 innings, but he didn't even hit 90 in the 4th. That's quite a ways off from the scouting reports isn't it?
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) They might as well contact the Valley and get it over with. Mountain West more likely. Need a football conference.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) Assuming Wojo is pitching for The Citadel today, he's shutting out Va Tech thru 4. They saved him. Ballsy, but might pay off.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 11:21 AM) How many of these college players do you/we actually get to see play? I doubt anyone on here has seen Loux pitch, and after seeing him in the first inning, all I was saying is that I hope Workman/Wojo are better than he is (especially given his injury background). I actually saw Loux pitch last week in the Big 12 tournament. Not in person, but online video. He destroyed Mizzou twice this year. He's a strike out machine. I'm not sure he's a top 15 pick, but if the Sox were picking 25-35 I'd love him in that range. There's a couple arms I like better than him, but wouldn't be upset if the Sox took him at 13. I saw him in person last year, but wasn't thrilled. He didn't make it out of the 5th. He finished with 129 pitches in 8 innings today...and that wasn't even his season high for pitches. Typically sat in the high 80s which I'm sure would make everyone here hate the pick.
  18. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 08:09 PM) 13 hits already for the Dash in 6 innings. 2 hits apiece for Escobar, Gilmore, Loman and Garcia. 3 hits and 5 RBI for Logan Johnson. That lineup should return to mashing the ball with Garcia and Johnson back.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) Not a chance in hell they go over slot, especially based on how this season is going. It's painful how dumb and accurate that logic is.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) Sick of "safe" picks. It's funny the trend is to say sick of safe picks when the Sox haven't drafted a safe pick in the first round since '06. Poreda may have had a limited upside, but he was anything but safe (I guess that speaks to how bad of a pick it was).
  21. Knights @ Pawtucket Marquez Tennessee @ Barons Edwards Dash @ Potomac Sauer Greenville @ Intimidators Wickswat
  22. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 30, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) Erick Threets and Charlie Shirek activated from the DL, Jhonny Nunez promoted to Charlotte. That gives Charlotte 25 active players, so somebody was released or DL'd. I think Scott Elarton may have been released. Elarton was released. Johnnie Lowe also off the DL for the Barons and Joe Torres released. The Barons are all square at 24. With all of what's going on in Charlotte I can't keep track, but I think they are at 25. I'm missing something somewhere.
  23. Kevin Chapman, 50th round pick by the Sox last year, is ranked as the 81st best draft prospect by Baseball America. The Sox tend to redraft guys so keep an eye on him as a possibility. "Has shown plus slider, fastball velocity, could be first college closer drafted."
  24. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ May 29, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) I don't know a lot about soccer, but the defense looks terrible (got better in the 2nd half, but still). Offense looked dangerous though. The US defense is pretty poor. The only 3 proven and reliable defenders they have (Onyewu, Bocanegra, DeMerit) are all coming off injuries of varying severity. I don't think we'll be able to play Onyewu in the starting 11. He's probably too far away from being back physically to play 90 minutes. I like Goodson, but he's not proven yet. I think today's game is a sign of what's to come. The midfield is class, and they have a few options going forward but will rely on the midfielders to create for the forwards. Defensively, it is going to be rough. Turkey had some great chances that a team like England might score an extra goal or two from. Overall, I'm pleased though. Bradley is going to have to be careful with his lineup, they don't have the depth to be situated incorrectly.
  25. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 29, 2010 -> 04:17 AM) I guess in an ideal world, Serbia and Australia make it out, but we'll see. In an ideal world maybe Serbia shouldn't lose to New Zealand.
