  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Dan is gonna jizz when he sees this. EDIT: He just K'd so 3-4. Finished 4-5, suck it. He's having a much better year than '09 so I'm really happy. We need a defensive whiz to do well.
  2. Viciedo with HR #10. He's loving hitting in Charlotte.
  3. Indianapolis 9 @ Knights 7 Marquez Barons 5 @ Huntsville 6, game 1 Edwards Barons 5 @ Huntsville 4, game 2 Long Dash 1 @ Salem 2 Sauer Intimidators 3 @ Savannah 2 Hopps
  4. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 26, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) I thought Holden played alright. I believe it was the first time he played a lot of minutes since breaking his ankle. Rogers did good in his time in the match but its just not his time now. The midfield is too clogged but atleast he showed promise. Yeah, Holden is fine. The US isn't deep enough to cut players that are on Premier League clubs like Holden. He is a strong right side midfielder and the US doesn't have a ton of that. Rogers is a good winger, but he's only 23 and we actually have some depth at midfield, especially on the left side. I think the US has a very solid midfield, probably their deepest. Up top and in the back is awful though.
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 25, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) Jimmy Ballinger (flying under the radar here) has yet to allow a run (21 IP) this season. Pretty cool to see, especially for a guy who is in an age appropriate league. I made this same mistake earlier. He has yet to allow an earned run, but has given up three total.
  6. A lot of people have been on the White Sox for not spending in the draft, but their last 2 first round picks were well regarded selections that were not 'going cheap.' The Sox didn't go overslot, but you could argue Beckham and Mitchell were best available so if the Sox have changed their philosophy we wouldn't have necessarily known. Maybe they're willing to spend early (Thompson was a bit above slot). Basically I'm saying just because they didn't go overslot the last two first round picks doesn't mean they weren't willing to considering the players taken. This year's draft will probably show more about the Sox current draft philosophy than the last two years. Taking Castellanos would be a drastic shift.
  7. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 25, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) This pleases me. You're quick. I'm surprised to see this actually. A HS talent that's supposedly pricey.
  8. I always like Sickels' drafts. I did Pittsburgh a few years ago. I always got shut out of the White Sox. I'll pay attention this year if I can, it's good fun.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) I wish I knew more about Infante's stuff - kind of surprised they converted him from starter last year to closer this year. He hit 98 out of the pen recently.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) I'm not sure which is more shocking, Donny hitting 2nd or Viciedo finally getting to bat 4th, when they've had him in the bottom of the order (5th-9th) in BIRM and CHA. Viciedo has been hitting 3rd recently. He's been up in the order a decent amount of the games.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2010 -> 08:46 AM) I don't know if it'd be Hudson being dropped as much as the 21 year old racing the Hell past him. Exactly. Hudson is more of a sure thing than Viciedo, but the upside isn't quite the same.
  12. How good is the Winston-Salem offense? The Winston-Salem Dash have been the hottest team in the White Sox organization and one of the hottest in all of the minors. The reason, for the most part, is their incredible offense. Dash hitters have the top five spots in batting average among Sox minor leaguers. They also moved to new BB&T Ballpark this year. Is the park a hitter's haven or are these hitters just that good? more...
  13. That was implied. The Sox have the money. Laumann and his scouts don't. They don't set the budget and they are the ones in charge of the draft. That's what I said don't have the money.
  14. I think the finances are more the leading factor than the upside/safe type player. It's hard to draft a high upside player when you don't have the money to go overslot. High upside guys generally cost more.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 18, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) We both have been on his bandwagon for a good year now. He was both of our top prospects last year when most people here were slurping Flowers/Hudson. It was hard to defend Viciedo over those two last year. I was starting to doubt early this year. Look at him now. He's killing the ball.
  16. Viciedo .303 overall. OPS .873. K rate still falling (like I said it would). He's outperforming the preseason top 2 (Hudson/Flowers) while being 2 years younger than both (technically a day short of 2 years younger than Hudson, but whatever). He's my vote for top prospect.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 18, 2010 -> 09:10 PM) Jake Rasner with the start - wonder if that was a one-time deal or if they are converting. He started most of last year. I don't think it's a big deal. He's moved back and forth before.
  18. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) I'm expecting someone like Workman or Wimmers. At least this way I can't be disappointed... or I'll just be less disappointed. I'm kind of in the same boat. Those are the only two names that have worried me so far. I haven't picked a favorite, but I certainly don't like the idea of either of these two guys at 13. I also wouldn't be surprised.
  19. Blackwood might get more time in rookie ball this year. It all depends on the draft and how many high profile catchers are going to be in rookie ball.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2010 -> 12:14 AM) The only two untouchables in the system right now should be Flowers and Hudson. Hopefully word has gotten around the league of Danks' supposed stellar defense. I wouldn't have a problem at all if KW traded Danks or included him in a package to get an impact player (assuming we can get back in the race). We don't have any prospects on the untouchable level and we won't and shouldn't be buyers at the deadline anyway. The way Viciedo is hitting, you could argue he's on par with Hudson and Flowers. The walks aren't there, but he's 21 and showing almost as much power as Flowers while posting a much better contact rate.
  21. Good to see Viciedo getting hot away from Knights Stadium.
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 14, 2010 -> 06:31 PM) Ryan's been mainly working out of the pen so far this year. Some control issues though, with 10 walks in 13.1 IP. And now he's been sent to extended spring training.
  23. Silverio joined Buch in extended ST. Silverio's move makes sense. Buch's is likely to work on consistency/control. A summary of the day's moves
  24. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 17, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) Lowe to the DL, look under the Sally League transactions. Ahh good catch. I didn't realize the league transactions would be ahead of some of the rosters. Thanks!
  25. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 17, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) Must mean Lowe is headed to the DL with that groin injury, it did look bad. Lowe and Edwards were starting on the same day, so it makes sense. Edwards did deserve the promotion. Kanny still has an open roster spot. I noticed the Barons are still one over their roster limit with 13 active pitchers. That would make the most sense. Where did you hear about Buch? I see he's not listed on the Kanny roster, but that doesn't mean he went to extended ST. He was doing decent enough to stay with Kanny.
