  1. Don't look now, but Juan Silverio is raking in the Pioneer League.
  2. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:38 AM) Rory B. Bellows and I shared a few. Did you ask him what the deal is with his signature? I mean stars? Really?
  3. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:28 AM) Homer? Homer Simpson? That drunk? Moe Syzslak is a certified mixologist, I take his word over some bumbling nuclear engineer. Sounds like you found some Purple Drank after all.
  4. Anyone else notice that Vinny Del Negro has another NBA head coaching job?
  5. If the Bulls know they're whiffing in free agency is there anyway the Hinrich trade doesn't go down?
  6. Durham @ Knights Torres Barons @ Montgomery Hynick Greenville @ Intimidators Serafin Billings @ Great Falls Delk Billings @ Great Falls game 2 Burnside BriSox @ Pulaski Petricka
  7. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) He's been doing that all season. Not really. His ISO was in the mid hundreds in April and May, but has been over .200 since the start of June. He's a tough guy to get a read on because he's actually hitting better away from BB&T.
  8. Brandon Short has been showing quite a bit of power lately.
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) Actually, Dayan comes in. And probably more playing time for him coming. I'd guess Omar has to go on the DL for that.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 02:06 AM) ahh, classic soxtalk, state something that is clearly true and the research to act like they are right by bringing info that is false. Yes, wikipedia is great. Congratulations. I wasn't born in 1970. Since I've been born it's been a merry-go-round of the same teams. I'd rather a non-western europe final happen. INSANE. The statement may be true, but Spain has been anything but a power until the last couple years. They certainly weren't a part of this merry go round you speak of.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) I'm a follower. He did it so I did as well. Fair enough. If you're trying to avoid the result at this point, this thread isn't where you should be. I am amazed Lesnar survived the first to win. That was insane. He looked overmatched, but wow. He took a big punch on the chin and several more on the ground (which appeared to wear out Carwin) and still won. That amazes me.
  12. Why spoiler tags? I wouldn't even know how to watch a replay if I tried at this point. The result is all over the internet anyway.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 08:37 PM) cool, it's true they want to move him along quickly, correct? He's supposedly going to AAA by mid-July so he won't be in Winston-Salem long most likely.
  14. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) Seriously? Rose is great but this is like asking if you would trade a dollar for a million, bazillion, trajillion dollars. With no cap, there's no question who you'd rather have. With a cap, the Bulls would be better keeping Rose and other better-than-minimum-salary guys. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) The only way you could have enough cap space to sign three max guys is to completely clear your roster. Three max players is just barely under the salary cap, so keeping anyone on the roster would make it impossible. There's no way the Bulls could get all three, it'd only be two of them. Exactly. You can't get all 3 with anyone on your roster. That said, there has to be a 0% chance the Bulls trade Rose.
  15. For those who don't read the FutureSox board, first round pick Chris Sale made his debut tonight. He pitched the 8th out of the Dash bullpen. Got a pop out, ground out, walk (after being ahead 1-2) and a ground out. Fastball sat 93-94.
  16. 2 pitches, pop out for the first batter. "Sale makes the play on a swinging bunt grounder for out number 2. #whitesox " "Sale walked batter number 3 before getting a ground out to 2nd to end the inning. Fastball was sitting at 94 mph. #whitesox "
  17. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 11:06 AM) As for Melo, he plays for Juventus in Serie A, so I don't know if his family already live in Turin instead of Brazil. The curse of Juve! Ask the Italians how stacking their roster with Juve players worked out.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) Even though the Dutch are ranked 4th in the world, this is still a fairly shocking result IMO. I disagree. I think it's shocking the Dutch came from behind to win in regular time, but I don't think this Brazil team was that good. Offensively, their roster was unimpressive by Brazilian standards. They were just one of the powers to me and not the top team.
  19. Ha the US ends up being the only group winner to lose their round of 16 game. Too bad.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) His numbers haven't been all that spectacular - I would have thought Bellamy, or Rem before he was injured, before Infante being promoted. He has good numbers with a high 90s fastball. They're going to push him because his stuff is better.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 08:19 AM) The original report said W-S for a couple weeks, followed by a couple weeks in Charlotte and then maybe a callup. It's not like Randy Williams is blocking him. Vispoli, MR Director of the Dash, said "Sale will be throwing a simulated game today and is expected to make his debut out of the pen on Friday if all goes to plan."
  22. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) Altidore's upside is a Luis Fabiano striker IMO. But that said, he's got a lot of work to do on his overall finishing skills still though. But the potential with his body size and speed is definitely there. You make that sound like a bad thing. If he became that good, any American would be ecstatic. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) I don't think Altidore has anywhere near the talent/skill/ability level that's required in order to develop into a player like Fabiano. He also comes across as a player with a low footballing IQ. I'd never bet on those players reaching their full potential. I think Jozy's problem is work ethic. He has big talent, but something is there holding him back from being as good as he can be. Football IQ might be a part of that too. He teases us with spectacular showings followed by duds. I guess that's what can be expected from a 20 year old on a maturity level.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:25 AM) I gotta think Gilmore is heading to AA soon. With an OPS below .800?
  24. I think it's partially because of the continued success of instant replay in our sports. I agree, there have been bad calls in the past, though I'm not sure this many goal deciding calls in the span of a couple days. As for the replays shown, I know the video during the games is just the global FIFA feed. Afterward ESPN can show whatever they want.
