QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) I just do not see anyway he gets placed on the 40 man roster and called up this year. You'll be wrong. It was reported that a big reason why he signed so soon and for a reasonable price was because of big league promises. I'd be somewhat surprised if he was up before September, but I think a spot on the 40-man and his MLB debut this year is more likely than not.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) I assume room for him on the 40 man will be made when Jake goes to the 60 day DL. The 40-man is at 39 right now according to what's listed on whitesox.com.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) Um, you're literally always within a 100 yards of a TV here. A lot of people have television hookups at their tailgates. Quite a few people set up a dish too. If you're going to play a midafternoon game, you might as well eat lunch and drink beer while watching football. ISU may suck at a lot of things, but we're pretty good at tailgating. Yeah, but I wasn't tailgating with an RV and a satellite. I don't care if someone I don't know has that. I was tailgating with my fellow broke college students. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) We tailgate early here. I don't know what the problem is in Columbia. One, night games>day games by a lot. Two, you have a TV when you tailgate outside? -
Rienzo has some nice K/BB numbers, but man is he inconsistent.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) ESPN to add a third hour to ESPN College Football Gameday. What more can they talk about for another hour? link Yeah and how many college kids are going to want to wake up at 8am on a Saturday? -

Leesman and Serafin promoted, Santos Rodriguez to DL I wonder if Leesman will go to the bullpen. His numbers certainly don't warrant a promotion otherwise.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) Real nice first couple of games for Wilkins, wonder what took him so long to sign. I'm sure at least partially due to the fact that Arkansas was still playing after he got drafted. Probably wanted to take some time off for a break before getting back to it.
-
QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) But will he be kind of a Mark Reynolds all or nothing player? Can he hit maybe .250? He definitely won't walk. He makes enough contact to hit well above .250. Don't think you can compare him to Reynolds at all. Viciedo will probably have less power, they're opposite with walks and Viciedo doesn't strike out even close to as much.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 09:29 PM) What are the odds? Nobody makes a thread for ages then two at the exact same time. Anyway... Flowers- 3-3, HR, 2 BB. Now that's a line I can get behind. Yeah, go figure. Tyson Corley probably is just organizational fodder, but he had a great debut line for the Knights. 3 IP, R, 5 K, 0 BB, 2 H. Under the context of a debut after a double promotion, I'm impressed. Again, not saying he's great, but that's impressive.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 03:47 AM) What is to be known about this Spencer Arroyo kid? He is 21-year-old lefty who is having a pretty damn good year for Bristol so far. Only 4 starts so far, but so far so good... 21 IP, 17 H, 5 BB, 25 K. That's a 5.0 K:BB ratio, and a 1.04 WHIP. Today's start, he went 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K. The numbers are good, but 21 in rookie ball isn't prospect territory. He's not 'old' for the league, but it's just hard to evaluate him this soon. Rookie ball is weird.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 12:07 AM) I believe the defensive intensity of the Celtics can be greater attributed to the tenacity of Kevin Garnett. Anything is possible!
-
QUOTE (CSF @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:21 PM) Santos Rodriguez with 26 K's in his last 10 appearances, though the walks are starting to creep up too. The walks have always been there. Hard to take him serious as a prospect with those walks. Eventually the Ks will go down as he goes up the levels and he won't be an effective pitcher.
-
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) But he moved he 3B now so his value took a little bit of a hit, if he can manage to stay at SS, he could easily be a top 20 given his age and our weak system. FWIW, his arm strength is supposed to be very good at third so maybe he can become a solid defender there. Chris Carter had a season similar to this when he was the same age. Hit .130 in Kanny in 46 AB and then played for Great Falls and raked. You may question Carter's ability to make it in the Majors, but he's certainly a talented player. It's easy to lose perspective on Silverio because he's been a pro for a few years, but I'm cautiously optimistic that he can go back to Kanny next year and hit.

Haha Marquez is fooling no one. This is why he will be back in the minors by Sunday.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) well i see you are from northbrook and anything i say won't matter, but yes being the annoying white guy on duke has an enormous amount to do with it, as well as spurning illinois/weber He had always been a Duke fan, Illinois never had a shot.
-
QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) christ whats even worse is that douche chill scheyer is going to be on that heat team too What's wrong with Scheyer? Just that he played for Duke?
-
With Silverio I think you have to assume he's the age they say he is and if it ends up being wrong, just don't be surprised. MLB has put a ton of effort into getting this right because it potentially screws over multiple teams. Assuming he is 19, he's gotta be close to the top 25 or so. I'm honestly not sure what to think of him.
-
Silverio with another HR. He's raking: .329/.375/.562. What does everyone think of this?

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) I wonder when they just say, screw it, and send Sale to Charlotte. The report was mid-July so I'm guessing he gets 2 more appearances for the Dash.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) So....Does Sale come out of the pen once a week now? How do they expect to move him up to AAA in a week+ if he only has 1 inning pitched in the 2 1/2 weeks or so that he has been signed? He's already made his 2nd appearance. He debuted on the 2nd, he pitched again on the 5th.
