QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) No kidding. He needs to go to prison for a while and see what it feels like to get his s*** kicked around for a while. You can take the PC route, but in reality Cheaters is a terrible show that is the reason that fight escalated. That said, that video had me cracking up when he kicked through the glass. What would possess him to do that?

The most exciting player in the country, Robert Griffin of Baylor, is out for the year with an ACL tear. Awful news. Link proof -
USA won 10-5 in the final today. 2 straight World Cup wins for the US.

Gonna be fun for the voters this week. Hard to order the teams right now with teams looking great one week and awful the next. -
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) I think anyone who has had 4 full seasons in the minors. Santo Luis, Fernando Hernandez, Derek Rodriguez, guys like that all have to be protected. I don't know about the full list but usually that list is released prior to the Winter Meetings where the Rule-5 is held. Hernandez was already taken in the Rule V in 08.

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 09:44 PM) Other organizations? Yankees and Rockies were the two farm systems ahead of the Sox in wins. This BA link says otherwise. Where did you get your info?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 05:16 PM) There's been several waiver moves as of late even with teams not in contention. Obviously the Sox felt Egbert had no future in Chicago and wouldn't net anything in trade even as a throw in so he gone. Probably its just simple housecleaning. Sure, there's not much complaining on giving up on Egbert. He has a better chance of making it than Broadway IMO, but it is housecleaning. I just think the timing is weird. Maybe there was some arrangement considering Egbert is from Staten Island. The Rule V could put him anywhere. Who knows, good luck Jack.

Top-5 prospects Kenny will trade this offseason
danman31 replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in FutureSox Board
I think Hudson will get dealt and I wouldn't mind it either. He's definitely a candidate for maxed out value. Who had Egbert in the pool? Early win for you, even if it wasn't a trade per say lol. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) I don't know everything but I'm guessing it's time to start thinking about the rule 5 draft in early December. There's probably a couple guys in the minors who are eligible if we don't put them on the 40 man. Right, but the 40-man was at 39 anyway. This would be one of those 'Kenny has something brewing' moves if not for the fact that it's the last week of the season. The move isn't odd, just the timing.
-
Seems weird. The waiver trade period has passed and there seems to be no reason the Sox would need to take Egbert off the 40-man. What's the deal?
-
Wassermann got the save. Pretty sure his future is in the Nationals or Pirates bullpen.

QUOTE (Cubano @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 08:19 PM) Did anybody see the game? I did. I was cracking up at the US reliever that was swearing at the ump when he got pulled.

QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) Boise State beat an Oklahoma team that didn't have a QB.. there is no chance that Boise State would beat a Sam Bradford Oklahoma team.. I wouldn't say no way. Bradford only threw for 96 yards in the first half because of the reason he got injured: no o-line. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) Teams like OU and Alabama had no interest in their games against Boise/Utah. Playing those teams are major letdowns in their minds. The mental aspect is huge in college sports. You think Alabama wanted to play some "mid major" team a month after losing their chance to play for a title? So of course there's a good chance you'll get a close game when one team is playing their Super Bowl and the other team is just there to get a free PS3. That may be a little true, but if you can't get up to play in the Sugar Bowl or the Fiesta Bowl, you don't deserve to have a scholarship. -
The 31 HR from the US is just absurd. Justin Smoak is an absolute stud. Still possible he ends up being better than Beckham.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) There are some small breweries you can check out Schlafly, Square One, Mattingly's. Schlafly is surprisingly decent. Not bad at all.

MiLB's Thompson page Thompson finished below the Mendoza line on the season, but this shouldn't come as a major shock. He wasn't going to be Ryan Sweeney and handle himself at levels well above his age. 41 K in ~113 PA is scary. As a high draft pick the Sox might push him by starting him at Kannapolis next season, but those numbers may force them to take it really slow with him.
-
Escobar finished the season on a tear. He won FutureSox Hitter of August. The slick fielding shortstop finished the year with a .256 average and a .300 OBP. Hopefully his great August is a sign of things to come. He really struggled the rest of the year.

QUOTE (Sox72 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) Is it the jeans sticking to your legs or constant pit stains that you love most about it? June, July and August are rough. The rest of the year it's better weather than Chicago.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 08:03 AM) I saw that Wassermann through 2.2 IP scoreless in the US win that got them to the finals. Finals are this week I think, right? It didn't get them in the finals. They were already going. That was the last game of the 2nd round of round robin. The US went undefeated, but the top 4 teams advanced. 8 teams are left.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 08:49 AM) I imagine Hell is probably a lot like late-August St. Louis. Oh my god yes. It's awful. That city is a pit. My experiences in St. Louis generally haven't warranted anything spectacular, but I've also been in the St. Charles area more often (the Ameristar is pretty badass).

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) "Or if Tennessee had some semblance of a passing game, Tennessee wins that game." I'm not sure I'd go that far, but it was a competitive effort from Tennessee. Their D was impressive, but they have a long way to go. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) HAHAHA. So because OSU lost to USC they have no chance of beating them if they played them in the Rose Bowl? I like your logic. I hope they do play them again with a season under their belt. No, but it's odd to talk from a position of strength when they won in your place. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 06:31 PM) You can see into the future? I can look into the past where OSU lost to USC at home. It's odd to be confident when the Rose Bowl would be in LA. Forget Penn State, not talking about them. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) LOL. Well the odds are it would be either PSU or OSU, both of which can beat SC. So not sure if you thought maybe Indiana would make the Rose Bowl? Can and did not. Nice job OSU.
